will be cancelled. I say buy.I just read an article that oysters are invading a waterway in Tokyo that is being used for rowing and canoeing competitions which could put those competitions in jeopardy. Between that, Covid and God knows what else, I don't see how they pull this off.

I'm a cautious Sell. At this point they seem pot-committed to move forward. I'd be shocked if 1 or more entire events are not unable to finish. Could wind up being Fyre Fest 2.0

Toyota just pulled out of their sponsorship deal. They were one of the primary sponsors. All it will take is for one corporation to pull out because "they do not wish for their brand to be a part of a covid spreading event". Many others could follow suit as a cheap PR play. If that happens, I could see this thing getting shutdown mid-flight.

Seems like just pushing it to 2022 or 2024 would have been best for everyone. I get that most athletes only have a small window in their career to compete in the Olympics but the atmosphere with empty arenas will just be not great.

Toyota is still a sponsor; they pulled their tv ads in Japan. Still a big deal.

It seems like every Olympics has some late/last minute issues.
Oysters in the waterways, too much raw sewage in the waters off Brazil days before the start, too many stray dogs in Russia shortly before Sochi games, too much air pollution shortly before Bejing, etc etc.


As for covid- based on the narrative of a few on here, the pandemic is over so no worries there.

I lost interest in the Olympics when they placed a cap on the number of points Simone Whatshername could receive during a competition because she's "too advanced." She's busted her ***, 17 them and anybody else that is going to punish her for doing so

Slight sell. I think they go ahead though there will almost certainly be some disruptions. I really don't care one way or another. I never have been big fan of the Summer Olympics.

From the articles I've read, this oyster is a delicacy in Japan so they don't want to disrupt them as they are worth a lot of money. In addition, it appears in rowing there is some rule about waves not interfering with competitors. Japan has put some type of equipment in the waterway that helps reduce waves or the waves impact to competitors. The oysters are attaching themselves to this equipment and sinking some of this equipment.
