Follow the logic. Why would you move from a P5 school down to a G5 school? What's the career goal with this move? It's simple he wasn't retained allowed to find another job 1st then a mutual parting of ways. It allows the coach to save face.

We needed a change. DL recruiting has been abysmal, and we need big time improvements in DL play overall but especially in the pass rush department. Maybe having Mimes slip away was the last straw....

I don't buy your theory. He's a Florida guy and has young kids....he recruits florida......once he hitches his wagons to Heupel, he's going to have at least four years of job security in Florida. They'll probably give him a raise, even from Rutgers' Big Ten money.

Burnham was from Florida so it may be wanting to take his family back home for a period of time. He recruited Florida but it doesn't look like we got many recruits from Florida in the last 2 years.

Colorful personality. If Ash is smart he brings in a DL coach with strong PA or NJ connections.

Working with Fleck in Minnesota I believe.
Correct. Quality Control.

Wonder where he resurfaces. He was put in a bad spot with Flood.
His bio says:
"He was the special teams coordinator at Rutgers from 2012-13.

In 2013, Rutgers scored four special teams touchdowns, including two kickoff returns and a punt return. True freshman Janarion Grant earned All-AAC Second Team honors as a return specialist.

The Scarlet Knights put together a strong special teams unit in 2012, ranking first in the nation with eight blocked kicks, ninth in kickoff return yardage defense (18.09) and 34th in kickoff return average (23.21)."

That's when special teams was special at Rutgers.

Please offer the job to Panagos......energetic young guy the players love....energy level off the chart. Very good recruiter at a position where we haven't been that successful.

Ash has the opportunity to retain Panagos but let him go. I doubt he'd be interested in coming back.

Banks issue had nothing to do with Burnham. It was just an odd situation that nobody can wrap their head around.
I wouldn't say that nobody can wrap their heads around it. Even some folks from DePaul.

Sometimes you know what feels like a good fit, and what doesn't.

Then you would be wrong. He was at the end of his 2 yr. contract and not retained. And I bet you also thought Mehringer left being an OC on his own volition to be a glorified WR coach again.

My only hope is that as we move forward, we IMPROVE the quality of the coaches. It doesn't matter to me if they left, or were fired; only that the new guy is better.

Now, let's get us a better coach, and yes, spend if we have to.

Why are some folks overthinking this. Burnham has moved on. Does it really matter other than for some folks to feed their ego etc. Tne important and big thing is who will be his replacement. As several people has already expressed Panagos would be a very good choice. Might even flip Banks but I guess he signed early.

So when do we find out if Ash's Assistant Salary pool has been increased? We now are looking for a new OC, DL Coach and 10th assistant...

Would love to see Panagos back but extremely unlikely IMHO.
