A while back there was a thread talking about these giant "gas-stations." Came across one in Florida & had to stop. We spent entirely too much money in there.

I thought they were all out West. I've yet to try any of the snacks we bought, like the beaver nuggets, jerkey, etc.

This one had FIFTY TWO gas pumps.

I think there’s going to be one at the Menge exit on the coast, somewhere near there soon. I don’t think there are any others in MS.

52 pumps for them is a relatively small one I believe

They are something else. I haven't had a chance to spend too much time in one because I was always traveling when I hit one here in Texas but they put one just north of Austin on 1-35 I will make a journey to when I am bored this summer. It's truly amazing everything they have in those things. It's like DisneyWorld for the traveling motorist.

fifty two gas dispensers. You went to a tiny one. Many have over one hundred.

There is one in Robertson Alabama my family and I visited a week ago on our way to the beach. It was insane. I didn't count gas pumps but it was shoulder to shoulder inside.

The one in Leeds Alabama is relatively new. When we go to in laws in Savannah Georgia it’s a must stop.

Unfortunately, I think that was a politician running his mouth. I don’t think Buc’ces ever formally committed and I understand the golf course on Menge Ave is trying to block the sell of that property.

Seems like a weird time to be installing so many gas pumps. Kind of like buying a bunch of standard def TV cameras in the late 90s. I guess they can be converted to charging stations over time, but 52 still sounds like too many.

There was an article about it recently in the Sun Herald, so that’s a pretty ****** job of them if they didn’t fact-check themselves. And the property is across the interstate from the golf course so I have no idea why that would even been an issue.

I saw someone’s FB post a couple week’s ago. He said I don’t know how many they have, but I’m on pump 218. This was one in Texas I think.

Correction.

Just realized that I mathed wrong. I counted pillars, multiplied by two (for each side of the pump) then by two again (for two canopies).

However, each pillar had two pumps on a side so I left half off.

104 pumps.

We have one in Denton, Texas. I don't usually go by there unless I need ethenol free gas, but when I drive to Mississippi, I always stop at the one near Tyler off interstate 20. Can't beat the clean bathrooms.

The wife and I passed the one just outside of Gulf Shores on our way home this past weekend. I kid you not there was a quarter mile long two-lane wide line to just get into the parking lot of the Buc-ees. I was fiending for some beaver nuggets but not that bad.

Despite what you may hear in the news, we are many years away from a majority of cars being electric. It has nothing to do with manufacturing the cars or the battery technology. It’s the power grid. The current grid is nowhere near being able to handle charging up everyone’s car right now. And it will take many many many years to get there.

They number them differently than most places. 218 does not mean number two hundred and eighteen. It means the second dispenser on row 18.

I have probably been to over 20 Buc-ee's locations due to my job requiring me to drive all over Texas for the better pay of 15 years. They are the best kind of overdone. Most have to be in the 100 pump range. The biggest I saw was in New Braunfels outside of San Antonio. The Smallest is in Pearland, Texas felt like a small Pilot/Flying J without 18 wheeler parking.

Best buys for me.

1. Coolers, tumblers, etc. Man they had all the Yeti style stuff long before anyone else with a huge selection. Had to be the first place I ever saw RTIC. Good price and selection. Best value in the world is $.99 for a 20lbs bag of ice. I'm probably 1500 miles from the closest Buc-ee's yesterday at a national park and had a little Buc-ee's cooler with our picnic stuff in the back of the truck and 3 different passerbys commented on how much they love Buc-ee's. 24 can zip up cooler that holds ice better than a Coleman, $15.

2. Pecan Pie Kolache. Everything that is great about pecan pie and donuts mixed together.

3. Boudin Kolache. Not as good as you can get at Slovacek's in West, TX... But it will do in a pinch.

4. Cheesesteak Burrito. I had to look this up to see what all was in it. Would be number one if it didn't make me have to drop a deuce in 90 minutes or less after eating. It's the Philly favorite, wrapped in a tortilla with two types of beef. Tender beef fajitas and roast beef are dressed with grilled onions, peppers, Monterey Jack cheese, and an out of this world jalapeno mayonnaise.

5. Pastrami Reuben and homemade chips. Pretzel bun, sauerkraut, fried onion crisps, delicious...

6. Brisket Sandwich... No problem wit this being higher on someone's list. It's just that in TX I could get a good brisket sandwich a lot of places, so at Buc-ee's I usually opted for other goodies.

It's a big ol tourist trap that you must stop at every time you have a chance on a trip.

We stopped at the same one and all 52 pumps were taken with lines behind most of them. There was a fuel tanker unloading with two waiting to unload. We went in and there were lines at each checkout that had to be 40 people deep. The bathrooms were the same way. We left and grabbed pizzas at Mello Mushroom an exit or so west.

Average length of time an american owns a car is 7-12 years.
Development time for a new car is 5-7 years (which is why Hyundai has a 2040 target for eliminating gas cars)

If only we had a president that wanted to update the power grid and infrastructure....

To Make it relevant to the OP, do you think you could spend 30-45 minutes in a buc-ees during a electric car charge? Think there is enough to do, eat, drink and see?

Yes. I' not sure if the hundreds of vehicles are willing to wait to spend 30-45 minutes for a charge though.

I'm a big fan of EV tech. But until there's a battery that can give you 500 miles on a 15 minute charge at home, its not going to happen in Middle America.

I don’t get the love for the beaver nuggets, they are cheese puffs with Carmel corn instead of cheese on them.

You've evidently never had them. I can tell since you used the word "instead". Truth of the matter is they are puffs with caramel AND cheese on them.
