He did say he had to find more minutes for him and now he's getting more minutes lol
That will be Livingston next year when he transfers and explodes.
So happy for him that he found a place to get his opportunity. Seems like a great kid.
Add him to the list with Wiltjer, Matthews, and Juzang as guys who were totally misused here.
If Calipari were a doctor he would’ve sued for malpractice for the Bonehead moves he’s made the last few years with players. Another reason to show him the door
Hopkins was out of shape and lazy last year. He didn’t want to put it in the work at UK. Has nothing to do with Cal but people will blame him for everything I guess.
Part of being a leader is knowing how to motivate different people.
Hopkins had obvious basketball skills. He could shoot the 3, he could pass, and he wasn’t afraid to rebound. He had some baby fat but at least he wasn’t a stick figure like Collins and Toppin, afraid of contact.
Cal preferred Brooks and Toppins athleticism to Hopkins skill. Looks like Cal guessed wrong again.
Who on UK’s team is better than Hopkins? Only Oscar? Cal lost players to UCLA and Providence that clearly should have had more minutes when at UK.
They all do good when they leave getting out of Cal's system....
He's destroying Marquette right now too. 20 and 16 heading into overtime. If only UK had a 4 man that productive...

22 and 18 boards against Marquette now. 8-13 shooting. 0-1 from 3. Also has 2 assists, 3 steals, 1 block and 4 turnovers.

Hopkins is a 4-man that can get his own offense. Man, we could use a guy like that to go with Oscar.

Yep, and that’s precisely the kind of 4-man this team needs … as opposed to the offensive dead zone combo of Toppin/Collins.
Great job, Cal. You fvcking numbnuts! Good Lord, it’s so embarrassing having him be the UK coach. I sincerely mean that too. 
Just a fantastic all around performance. He is now SO much better than any forward we have on this team. So damn frustrating…

He finished with 29 pts on 8-14 shooting and 23 rebounds, leading his team to a win over a ranked Marquette team. That’s gotta be near the top of the list of the best individual performances in all of college basketball this year.
And, oh yeah, he did so playing exclusively at the 4 spot … you know, his natural position where Cal did not want to play him.
