The drive we had around 6 mins left in game we had two big drops (one WR and one RB right after) both of those were big chunk plays. That's when we threw the INT I belive which got the ball back out to the 20 - we then held you guys, got a great Punt Return to 29 with 2:42 and tried to run and not get out of bounds and not call any TOs (which was mind boggling).

Yes, McGee got through a couple of time, harassing the quarterback, once for a sack. But he didn't beat the protection. Rather, the line inexplicably left a big gap for him, and he rushed right in. He's a handful, no argument, but someone missed an assignment. He's only a sophomore and, if he's not injury prone, he will terrorize 7A for several years to come.

You are correct, someone missed their assignment as he was let right in. I'm guessing the RB unless it was supposed to be a bang/bang play but it didn't seem that way
Both teams made more mental mistakes than I would’ve anticipated. Maybe it was the gravity of the game.
I don’t think we’ve seen the best play from either team yet this year. Hopefully everyone who got dinged up can recover quickly in time for playoffs and maximally represent the CCL well on both levels.
Normally I would agree with you MS4ever but East defense blanked MS at home 40-0 and East starters have yet to allow a point. I have only been to 1 game this year but the defense looks to be solid. Different but very good and is opportunistic. The offense is on another level and it will present a problem for any team. If they meet in the playoffs or final it will be a great game.

It mostly just pisses me off he can’t spell Phoenix…
LW-East has played 1 ranked team so far and it was in Week 1. Since then they have not been tested and won't be until probably at least the quarterfinals. Having your starters play 2 quarters a game so far makes me nervous. When they are finally challenged in the playoffs and have to potentially play from behind, play 4 quarters, and have to protect Jonas from better defenses will they be able to step up? If you have been to any games they have pretty much abandoned the run compared to last season. Last few games I was surprised by some of the situational play calling then I was told they are going for records. I just hope this doesn't come back to hurt them in the playoffs when you need to be 2 dimensional against legit opponents.

I know you are joking, but seems almost certain that LWE & MC will be 1 & 2. Even if MC is 8-1, their playoff points should put them at #2.... I don't see any other 9-0 teams in 8A
Spoke too soon. If Fremd beats Barrington, can finish 9-0. But in that case, I think it's still either 1) MC 2) LWE 3) Fremd, or 1) LWE 2) Fremd 3) MC, so LWE and MC still opposite sides.
I was just about to make the Fremd/Barrington thread now that my Plainfield North thread is complete. We need a Fremd W for all things that are good.
The IHSA doesn't place teams anywhere in the bracket. 8A is seeded 1-32 based on wins and playoff points. If MC ends up #1 and LWE #2 or vise versa they would be at opposite ends of the bracket.
Nice close-up summary of the game. Rice has a great edge rusher, but MC rushes the whole damn team.

Rice got some good production from their tight end, who scored twice, but of Gray's three shots at the end zone, two were deftly defended and one critically intercepted by a revamped MC secondary. The red zone stands by the Caravan drew a bright line in the sand for everyone to see. Dowling continues to excel, and pass-catching running back Nate Samuels has added a new dimension to the offense.

Every year is different. We won’t really know until the playoffs so until they play let’s just enjoy the season.
