Y'all are just making stuff up now. I've been posting here for YEARS, no one has been clamoring for Tony Bennett.
His name has been on the list but not recently. People are crazy for even thinking about Bennett as a replacement

Sharpe has only been practicing like 1 week right? Unless he just catches on super fast and does everything well and dominates the first team offense playing with the backups I doubt he plays this weekend. I am hopeful he is playing in the next 1-2 weeks.

You need him to have a shot as he provides depth and gives us 5 guards that can split that 120 minutes between 1-3...and honestly some at the 4 if Cal would have the guts to go with 4 guards for 2-3 minute stretches here and there. If Sharpe is 6'6 then he can play the 4 in small stretches and we can pressure and go 4 out with Oscar inside...I think that line up would dominate, but what do I know? Probably nothing.

You would admit that it’s only been against inferior competition to this point? I’m hoping we unload on an equal. Waiting for that.

I mean everyone has been playing inferior competition for the most part. There are a handful of teams who have several more hard games, but everyone has played a fair share of cupcakes and now getting into conference play.

Plus the computer factors all that in, I think?

Agreed. Will definitely get the chance. Teams like Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, etc will run and gun with us and not try to turn it into a rock fight.
I’m excited for these next two weeks. We better crush these teams with our juggernaut offense.

I know it is in jest...but honestly I do find it funny people rip on Cals offense and it is Top 10 in country.

But, whatevs.

At this point the super duper anti-Cal people are more upset over politics than Cal’s offense.

Currently in top 10 in the country in offensive efficiency, leading the SEC in scoring offense, and have a team that plays unselfish basketball with better ball movement and spacing than we’ve seen in quite some time, yet these same clowns continue to ***** about offense. I’m not even going to mention the love affair for Oats and f’n Bruce Pearl after their teams played a glorified playground game filled with ISOs and 3-jacking the other noght.

This leads me to believe the issues some of these posters have stem from something outside of basketball.

I get it. We’re averaging 65.5 points/gm against the two ranked teams we’ve played.
Averaging almost 83 ppg overall.
Of course that average will drop some against the better teams especially when you are missing your starting point guard and assist leader in one of those two games.
Offensive firepower will not be the problem in games this team loses. It will most likely be defensive lapses, foul trouble, shot selection, poor matchups and injuries.

People still use points per game to assess how good offenses are? lol

Regarding Bennett tho he would never end up here but yeah his style would definitely be unpopular. Then again if he won a championship here with that style I'm not entirely sure anyone would care all that much lol.

I don't envision any fanbase being "well yeah we won the title but my god we did it in such a boring fashion" lol.

I just don’t see why Men’s BBall account would be interested in posting these types of things if he wasn’t going to do play, and play soon. I say we will be seeing him on the court very soon. And I’m all for it.

Yeah maybe I'm wrong but I'm not buying anything Cal is saying with this. Maybe he just doesn't want to give it away to opposing teams but I have to imagine this guy is going to see the court sooner or later.

This right here is the key.

How so? The first game against a ranked team was the very first game of the season and we scored 71 - not fantastic, but not terrible either. The second game we lost our starting PG 4 minutes in and then our other backcourt started struggled with injuries for a good chunk of the second. Besides, most of the teams we play aren’t going to be as good as LSU defensively so I don’t know that’s a better measure or the “key” to accurately evaluating our offense. I’m willing to wager most teams’ PPG drop when they play ranked teams.

The only thing I can see is this team is playing some really good basketball right now and maybe Cal doesn't want to tinker too much with that. But I think that's all the more reason to play him IMO. You can play him in small spells during the game and let him get used to things. He doesn't have to come in with any expectations that he's some kind of savior.

Our offensive performance against ranked teams is a small sample size, but based on how we lose in the NCAA Tourney over the years with Cal as coach it is a valid concern. I think we score way more against LSU if Wheeler is healthy, but we cannot know that for sure.
And keep in mind, LSU has given up 70 one time in 16 games. They’ve given up 60 only six times. They’re long, quick, and physical. They are a hard team to score on.

It's because there is no argument lol.

Not this season anyways.

Currently 8th in offensive efficiency.

We are 23rd in defensive, yet no one seems to focus on that lol.
