No matter how many years this will never get old.

You have to wonder what his dad said after seeing that. No way it would have gotten done if Cal was asked about it before Brad grabbed a $50 bill and pimp walked out the door to the tat shop.
And the stuff he wears on the sideline with his line beard have me laughing as well

Could we have paid an equally unqualified coach and gave him 22 million to make it as a 7 seed in the ncaa? I never coached in my life but also think i could draw up something better than the...throw it in the outstreched hand of your teammate out of bounds play. 1/70th the price for such smart coaching...just sayin! 1 game and 1 year and this nightmare will be over....
Bring in Brad

People need to realize that despite Cal’s waning performances, Mitch Barnhart and the boosters sabotaged the last few years for him, keeping the NIL wallet strings pulled shut. And then these jackasses give $22 million to the dope just to end up 9th in the SEC! What a joke. They have egg in their faces right now. What are they doing to fix the mess they helped put us in?
You are 100% correct. Mitch and the boosters keep us from a final four simply by refusing to get Hunter D which would have taken us very far in the tournament. Then to give Pope 22M for what. We all ave egg on our faces for what they did. Then we give Mitch a Golden parachute. Should have given him a kick in a** on the way out the door.

Yea when I say Mark isn’t any good, I mean at a level far above a regular joe. I’m comparing him to great coaches which is what Kentucky hires. Compared to his peers he’s terrible. Compared to Radom guy who manages IHOP obviously….

Mark also climbed into coaching late and moved way up fast. He’s no idiot. I will say, however, a lot of his rise did have to do with knowing people like Mark Fox, and being Mormon. They don’t have a lot of coaches to pick from and he was decent at Utah Valley, basically a Mormon school, and BYU was Mormon in a smaller conference so he moved up. I don’t think BYU today would come close to offering pope, unless there was not another Mormon coach and they just did it. Pope being Mormon is the main reason he’s here, without being Mormon I don’t think he could have risen like that. Without playing at UK he wouldn’t be here either.

So yes Mark isn’t an idiot he’s good compared to average people or low level coaches sure. But mark is also at the same time the luckiest guy ever associated with Kentucky basketball. Really wasn’t good enough to be on that 96 team, could be replaced with a lot of players, and coaching here was a very lucky situation and he wasn’t qualified. Being Mormon and a really bad AD really helped him out a lot.
I don't know him to say if he is an idiot or not. I doubt anyone on here knows him enough to know how smart he is or if he truly a good person. I know several people that try to give the illusion of being smart and godly that just are not either. That aside I know he is not earned this job through exceptional results and if you are going to replace a legend you better be getting a legend or this happens. This job is not easy so you can't hire someone that is a good person or a popular former player. You have to hire a stone cold killer of a coach. Someone that stops the aau games when he walks in the gym. Someone that doesn't need to college gear because everyone knows who he is and wants to step up their game when they walk in the gym.

There’s probably plenty of Mormons still coach D2, D3 and high school and would love to reach Pope’s level. Even the “Cal cant coach” stuff is honestly ridiculous. Very valid to be frustrated with Pope but people talking like he’s incapable of walking and talking simultaneously are really taking liberties.
I think he has mastered walking but the talking part can be off putting, a little confusing and turn people off sometimes.
