In a few years we’re going to find that out for real. I’m rooting for you to be right
Yes we will. I know Iowa isn't LSU but I do think ours is a high-tier P2 head coaching opportunity at a program that's in the upper half of the best conference in the country. I think we're going to get some really exciting HC candidates and trust BG to make a solid call.

Bowl reps will be very valuable for a Defense that loses a great deal to graduation.

For the #2 QB Hecklinski, and for the projected starters of the 2026 OL.

Like another said, will help the coaches decide which holes need plugged by the portal.

Actually they'd be in line for the Citrus and then ReliaQuest ahead of Iowa.

The reason they probably won't is because the B10 is gonna have 12 teams to find bowl destinations for, and the old Pac 12 bowl contracts still need to be fulfilled..........

You know that attending or watching the Bowl Game is optional, right?
You are absolutely correct. I'd add that being a Hawk fan is optional. I wish many of these negative posters would give it a rest.

Most aren't Iowa fans, they are only .
here to stir the pot.

I'm hoping for Tampa / St. Pete. Would be nice to warm the bones before the really cold stuff gets here.

Not Texas! Arch will throw for 500 yds and 6 TDs vs this pass D.

I love this logic.

"Hey, if you want to see Iowa football reach even greater levels of success than it has under KF, then you're not a real Iowa fan."

Lol.

Would want Texas, otherwise boooorrrrrring. Texas would prolly have some guys opt out. Quite a disparity in NIL with lil ol Iowa v Texas
Vanderbilt would be different, and they're pretty damn good. I definitely don't want Tennessee again.

In 27 years under KF we've played in 3 CFP/NY6 level bowl games, and won 1 of them.

That's 1 CFP/NY6 bowl win in 27 years.

Yeah, I think Iowa football could be a lot more than that.
I guess reading that out loud, I can see your point. It sure “feels” like it’s been more often than that, but the 2002-2004 run is pretty distant memory, and heck, the 2015 season is now as well.

What’s interesting is we’ve really never experienced the low-lows like MSU, Wisconsin, Purdue, Nebraska, etc. And it seems almost every year we are in the hunt for a possible BIG title game or playoff discussion for the majority of the year. Even this year with the general thud we’re experiencing here at the end, we were legitimate playoff contenders until the heartbreaking end to the Oregon game.

That, to me, may sum up KFs tenure the best. So may “almosts”. If just one of the tons of “almosts” would have broken our way…. For me, it’s the 2015 BIG championship game.

Sure, just like Indiana, and Oregon, and USC did. OOOPS . . .

Have you watched Manning? Have you watched Iowa? I hope the answer to both is no, otherwise I'm left to draw some sad conclusions . . .
manning sucks. the people here in austin are ticked off. they thought for sure they were national champs. to play iowa would be a huge insult. they would make fun of iowa. that might be fun

I don’t get why many fans seem discontented with KF, but we’re apparently pleased as punch with Fry.

Fry got very fortunate to go to 2 of his 3 Rose Bowls. KF neither had the benefit of playing in the old Big Ten(Big 2, Little 8) nor the benefit of a tiebreaker rule that rewarded the team that hadn’t been to the Rose Bowl for the longest. Fry likely only goes to 1 Rose Bowl in 20 years under the rules KF had.

To me, they are very even coaching wise. Very different styles, but very similar results.

The 2 big differences:

1). Fry turned around a long standing losing program, and thus got the benefit of the doubt for pretty much the duration of his career. Once KF built the Iowa program back up, it wasn’t just good enough to replicate Fry’s success, some fans expected him to improve upon it.

2). Fry coached in the non-internet days. So he didn’t have to deal with near the heat, criticism that KF has to deal with.

You’re talking about potentially 2 HOF coaches that had the equivalent of Big Championship seasons 4 times in 47 years.

Now enter whoever the next coach will be. There is 47 years of data suggesting what the probable level of success will be.

Except, he won’t be coaching in the old Big Ten and he won’t be coaching in the KF era of the Big Ten. He will be coaching in the new Big. So, if anyone thinks it is likely that he will outperform Fry and KF, well we better hit a home run hire to even have a chance of that occurring.

So….you would be actively rooting against Iowa? Because that’s what it basically is.
I would agree with you if ISU was playing any other team. But Nebraska is the team I will always want to lose the most. And ISU beating a ninth-place B1G team wouldn't improve their recruiting profile much
