I think there are officially enough folks who dabble in the sportsbook for a thread like this

bowl season + gambling go together like mashed potatoes + gravy

In my (extremely degenerate) opinion, the most fun bet of bowl season (and hit 67% winners last year) is the OVER on the "longest touchdown scored in game" prop

will be available for all of them, will be somewhere between 48 and 62 yards, and these bowls produce tons of crazy plays

good luck out there! post picks/thoughts/opinions here if you'd like. judgement free zone!

first 2 games of bowl season kick off on Friday:

Miami Ohio v UAB (-11) in the Bahamas (notoriously windy venue), o/u 44.5
#24 Troy (-1) v #25 UTSA in Orlando, o/u 55.5

Easy, if you live in a state that allows sports gambling, give that longest TD prop a shot

it's a really fun way to get into these games, especially the really bad early ones

I think last year there were 3 opening kick returns for TDs in bowl games. nothing like a winner on the ticket less than 1 minute in!

kong, this looks to be a fun thread for those who like to wager on bowl games.

I enjoy the bowl games, sometimes the minor bowls are way more entertaining that the upper to big bowls.

With the idea that many key players will bypass the bowl in favor of preparing for the draft, games that look "easy" suddenly aren't that easy. I would suggest anyone who wants to "wager their opinion" with real money, take the time to visit some of the bowl team websites to see who may or may not be playing.

Then you need to decide "who actually wants to be there." Sometimes it's easy.

You take the Alabama v. K State game. Bama is clearly more talented, but they would rather be in the CFP, so that plays a factor in their overall motivation. Then there is talk that Bryce and Will Anderson are considering sitting it out. Clearly, the former Heisman sitting out completely changes Bama on offense, and Anderson is near the most dominant defender in college football. Neither can be adequately replaced for what they mean to that side of the ball.

You know this will be K State's game of the Century, so a great effort by them is in store. Klieman was almost orgasmic when he said after the TCU win, "we're Big 12 champs!" May have been his career highlight even though he won a few FCS titles at North Dakota State. No doubt he will try to have the Cats razor sharp.

*edit* It's possible years ago in Fargo that Klieman, in his wildest dreams, would have never thought he would be coaching a team that would go up against the mighty Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Enormous motivation to have his Cats show well.

Seasoned gamblers know this stuff as part of their wagering strategy. The un-seasoned sometimes could require reminding.

FWIW

Bet every double-digit favorite.

Bet the higher ranked team.

While you're at it, bet every ranked CBB road favorite, too 💲✨

Double your money by folding it and putting it back your wallet.

In all seriousness, as the OP elaborated. These games are really hard to bet anymore in today's current CFB landscape.

I would add, if your book has live betting and you loved a certain side, (esp a favorite that gets behind) there can be some good value getting them at plus $ on the ML or a very good low spread number. Can be labor intensive and you need to be watching the game. But, it's probably one of the best ways to find value if you're patient.

Most I "gamble" is entering a free NFL pickem contest and traveling expenses/entry fees to enter chess tournaments with decent purses. 😅 So yeah I'm a noob lol but will follow this thread just out curiosity and will probably place a bet or two in the future. Just seems like a fun diversion to undertake on occasion.

Curious to see how the lines/game unfold especially with all the opt outs. Taking Kentucky in the Iowa-Kentucky game would be intriguing at Iowa -2.5 for instance.. then you realize Will Levis has opted out for Kentucky. Though I suspect that line would be flipped if Levis was on the field

bumping this now that we're in full swing with bowl & Holiday season (mail it in time in the corporate world)

couple games today:

Idaho Potato Bowl - 3:30pm ET
E Michigan vs San Jose St (-4) , over/under 54.5
it's cold in Boise so give me the +4

Boca Raton Lane Kiffin Bowl - 7:30pm ET
Toledo (-4) vs Liberty, over/under 52
lots to deal with for Liberty, but also probably have better players. this game has a history of wonkiness, so I'm taking the over as well as Toledo's team total over 28.5

E michigan at +4.5 Under 55 E michigan got a pretty stud RB will probably be a pound the ball run the clock game
Toldeo at -4 (Liberty down bad the last 3 games and don't have a coach)

Good pick. They need him to run well. When he doesn't they lose. Gonna be a boring game I feel like
I don't disagree. somewhat contrasting styles, might start snowing in the 2nd half

then again it's a bowl game and weird sh*t usually happens

I went with you on the parlay but I took EMU on the ML. These defenses are supposed to be pretty good but I’m not seeing it.

I haven’t paid attention well enough, how would your longest TD scored be doing?

Baylor -3.5 vs Air Force tonight in basically a home game in Fort Worth, over/under 42.5

Falcons have had a great season, but they haven’t seen the kind of athletes Baylor will bring tonight

I’m taking Baylor moneyline -165. Think they win a tough one

I took Air Force ML. Cold game. AF controls the clock. I’m struggling so far this bowl season. Need a win 😂

So, since u hate the B1G 10 what do you think of the gophers -9.5 over cuse?
Lot of points but fleck uses these meaningless games against lame duck opponents to pad his win totals

Also B1G does all its bowl winning nice and early

I think gophers win but not sure I’ll lay the 10

bowling green -3.5 vs new mexico st in Detroit starting in an hour. over/under 50.

I'm laying the points with the MAC school. nmsu have been historically bad in recent years & they just don't grow 'em in the southwest like they do in the midwest (very scientific, I know)

pretty square pick, but o well

Jerry Kill did a good job getting New Mexico State to a bowl game after a terrible start.
