“Tucker may start” ...lmao ..yea we waited because Knox was our first option. Hell be ready far before his junior season ( if he doesn’t transfer) ..or my expectation plays out and he figures it out this year ..He is pressing as of now and he has a long line of players ahead of him ...not like say goldwire ..he’ll be ok

Which part?

Tucker certainly isn’t starting anytime soon. If he becomes efficient with his offense he’ll play. He’s not on the team for any other reason than to score. That’s what he does. He. Isn’t. Ready. No matter how hopeful you are. He just isn’t ready.

The thing is, Tucker can be a good college player. He’s got the size and wiring to score effectively. It’s just too fast for him right now. Maybe he does get it before his junior season, I’d love it if possible. We need another steady shooter this season.

Trent is a player. Bagley is a freak, and Carter is so solid. Grayson just looks so smooth out there. Those 4 really clicked well together.
I realize it was just an exibition against a very weak team, and I know the season hasn't started, but from what I saw Bolden should stay for his junior year. Not trying to be critical of him at all, I think he's going to help Duke but he is not nearly as smooth as Carter.
This team is big and very athletic, and I like how they looked out there. Duke should be tough to beat, and if they improve come February, watch out.

Glad you got to see the guys Mac! Theres no place like Cameron. Thanks for the report sir!

I meant that’s what some said here before the season. (Him starting/ being big part of rotation). My (lmao) was how based off 2 games/ minutes of seeing him play, you coming to the conclusion he won’t be ready untill his jr season ..and basically saying u knew and now know why we waited so long to give him an offer when In all respect have little knowledge, if any of it...Knox going to Kentucky and us going straight after him soon after (imo) makes little more sence...yea he wasn’t a Knox , but I’m sure that wasn’t ks thought process... little premature imo..ur passing everything off as a fact and expect us to eat what u serve ...everything people say here is an opinion in all respect . Guranteeing impossible Tucker will be fine Goodnight god bless go duke

I can't wait til the MSU game to see how we match up. It should be a heavyweight bout, and I'm curious to see how the freshman handle it.

I like the 7 you mentioned, with spot minutes for at least one more.
We have 2 real games that should hopefully get us ready for a huge battle on the 14th with Michigan State. That is when we will find out what we're made of, then the next game after that one will show what we learned from it.
I like this team a lot, but we need to see how they respond to getting punched, and Izzo's boys will punch.

Maybe Jack White gets some minutes on the wing vs. MSU as he seems to like physical contact. Nice luxury having Bolden, Javin (and Vrank if needed) off the bench.

Not spoon feeding anything. An opinion is an opinion. And no I’m not in the office with K getting info, but based on conversations and putting together some educated inferences, you can see that Tucker was added after Knox declined. You can also look at Tucker as a player, add in the wings Duke is bringing in next season, and boom, there’s another clue that Tucker not only was brought in to contribute down the road, but also his junior year is the most likely time for it. As I mentioned before, I’d love for it to happen this season as we need another shooter. It just doesn’t seem likely. Maybe by February he proves me wrong which would be cool.

You looked at my post strictly to pick a fight. The “passing it off as fact” crap is a tired message board game that has been played longer than you’ve been around, bud. Try another angle next time. Maybe you can go with the age old “Virginia Tech/Duke” burn that people try from time to time.

I think this is the most likely rotation as well with spot minutes for Goldwire and Robinson/White. It looks like JRob is earning something unless that was a gift from K to give him more time in exhibitions. He looked good while he was out there though.

That suspension couldn’t have been timed any worse for Goldwire. Regardless of Tre being out or not, he would have gotten some tick yesterday. With Tre out, he would’ve run more with the top squad (Grayson would’ve stilled played some point).

Get your stuff together Jordan, we need you!

I’m the (one ) on here picking fights? ..Maybe glasses is a good idea idk. And saying the guys were bringing in next year lol are another sign tucker won’t be ready untill his junior season is laughable! K will try to get the best players reguardless who’s already on the team and their progress. Have you not seen what we’ve done recently or just see what (u) want. But since you can read ks mind I’ll bow down. ur right ..we’ll see tucker his jr year...sure he’ll be here and content unill then ..won’t transfer or anything . Sure k told him that the day he signed also as well. Good day :) lord...

I think we ultimately go 8 and I think the most likely candidate for the 8th spot will be Goldwire. This is for a few reasons...
1. We are deeper up front, pretty simple, if our 6th and 7th men are gonna be a wing and a big, we must bring in a guard.
2. Grayson (obviously) and even Gary are ahead of Trevon right now, we may need someone (not Grayson) to run our offense 8-10 mpg.
3. When Grayson or Gary need a blow, we can always slide Marvin to the 3 because Marvin can do just about anything.
4. A month ago I would have picked Tucker for the 8th spot, he hasn't shown anything to make me think he will play this year. Ditto with Jack.
5. I would have JRob ahead of Tucker and Jack on the depth chart, but again still Goldwire as the 8th.

I’m just saying I’m not ready to give up on a player “(especially just contributing)” and slap a junior year destiny on him as talented as him after 2 exhibition games and based off who were recruiting.that is all .especially based off past player history here and the goat teaching him.agree to disagree .Duke!

Anyway, I agree that we go 8 deep this year. Just tough to keep some of these guys out of the lineup. Additionally if the two exhibitions were any indication, coach wants to pressure and use our length. In order to do that and keep guys fresh for the whole game, youll see a lot of different lineups.

I was really impressed with the three bigs yesterday and how they played off one another. In a reverse way they are making the game easier for the guards, when its usually vice versa.

As for Tucker, i was one who thought he would crack the top 8 because of our lack of depth on the perimeter. Hes a very good shooter and solid athlete. Its been two exhibition games, lets see what happens.

Agree 100% on the pressuring with length. Bagley at the front of our 1-2-2 three-quarter press is downright scary!

I'm not getting the Justin Robinson playing over Jack White thinking.
Of the two, and having nothing to go off of with Justin and very little on Jack, and from what I saw, Jack can be a good role player. He didn't look that bad yesterday, of course Justin didn't look bad either, but I think Jack can help a little more due to the position he will fill. The kid is athletic and thick too.
We will see, but in my opinion, Jack fits the 3 better, and the possible 8th man.

I don’t see us pressing much imo. I think we’d get back as quickly as possible set up our D / zone whatever and use our strength with our length to make it as difficult as possible to score , other then taking chances with our bigs having to move a lot and giving layups every now and then .make the team shoot over you everytime! To beat you..that’s just me ..Our bigs can move really well though so maybe can recover well enough to do it ..I see a much deeper rotation if indeed we do... with the 8th spot rotated to who’s got the hot hand each night ...or 9th that is...I think tucker is gonna break out soon if he gets a chance. All it takes is a great play . Couple good shots and bam..maybe he has a nagging injury who knows ..u know how duke is about that ..

Agreed, i thought bc of his shooting prowess with the lack of depth at guard he would be in. Love how much competition there is. Very good news for us.

I like the fact that we seem to have 10 or 11 options at this point. Of course we won't go 10 deep but depending on the game and match up we can plug in guys like Goldwire, White, Vrank and JRob knowing these guys can give some positive minutes. JRob did some good things yesterday. Not getting carried away but he doesn't look lost out there. The flip side is we haven't seen these guys against an MSU or an IU. I guess we'll find out soon. :)

I like this team. I’ve always been a fan of playing big and getting easy shots in the paint. Shooting the 3 is cute but you when you have an inside presence you have a chance to win every game. It’s not often big men have bad nights shooting layups. We have 3 players that can legit score in the paint. Grayson and Gary will both probably shoot 40% from 3 as long as we continue to play inside out. People will have to double the post.

After these first two games I’m starting to really believe Wendell Carter is the best player on the team. That dude is a monster. He’s okafor but more athletic and a dawg on the boards.

Bolden will end up being a 3 or 4 year player. I just don’t see him being effective in the NBA which means he may not go first round. Next year will be his breakout though. He will be the main big man. It’ll probably be he and Javin starting at the 4 and 5. I don’t think we get Zion. Don’t really need him if RJ comes.

Bagley might be the quickest jumper I’ve ever seen. That second bounce is lethal. When we go big people will have a lot of trouble on their hands. All 3 bigs can pass and a perimeter player has to check Bagley on the block. I CANT WAIT!!!

While we can certainly state who our most important players are, really hard to justify who our best player is currently, given we have only played 2 exhibition games. With that said, Wendell has been the most surprising and honestly has looked like our best player, way too small of a sample to say that with certainty though.

I have watched almost every Duke game since 1998. This is one squad where you can get a little carried away if you want to. Don’t feel guilty. We have an insanely good starting 5 (maybe just a half notch below 2001), with Tre Duval being discussed as a potential weakspot. The nation’s top PG prospect may be our Achilles heel, sounds like a Duke kind of “problem”. If we trotted out our second 5, say Goldwire, OConnell, Tucker, Javin, Bolden, that’s a team that could still hang with ranked opponents, and might beat lesser ACC teams. Then you’d still have three capable subs in Vrank, White and Robinson who would be playing real minutes at Pitt or BC.

I’m fully expecting a 4 loss season or better. I think there’s at least a 1% chance we go undefeated.
