So Markwayne didn't go to college and didn't serve either? In TrumpWorld that makes him the perfect candidate.

ok, with all due respect for Rep ryan's military service, but he was a combat intelligence officer, and while I'm sure he experienced the smell of war, in my experience, intelligence officers were not at the pointy end of the combat spear.

Now, to be clear, Mullin should not be acting like hero, just say what you did and be honest about it.

And to be clear also, if we're going to measure our government officials by military service, a lot of them won't measure up

Ned: Although you merit a fair amount of deference with respect to issues like military service and claims relating to such service, I gotta remind you that Markwayne Mullin not only did not see any military combat, he did not even serve in the military AT ALL. Had he worked in a military press office like that drunkard Hegseth, it would have been ridiculous for Mullin to wrote about the smell or taste of war. But he did not even serve in a military typing pool or run a PX. The whole thing is absurd. It reminds me of former NBC broadcaster Brian Williams talking about beng in a helicopter that was taking on enemy fire, when no such thing ever occurred. GTFO with that kind of nonsense, I say.

Not only did he not serve, he doesn't even have a Bachelor's degree. He's literally a plumber who is failing up to be the head of the 3rd largest agency of the most powerful country on earth. If you were objective, that should concern you.

He's already a senator and he threatened to pound some dude during a session in the Senate so he's OK with me.

Outside of Tuberville, he is considered the dumbest senator and fake bravado isn't a job skill.

He probably heard the gunshot when they killed the protester. This looks like common sense to me.
But "threatening" a guy and not doing **** makes him qualified to run the 3rd largest agency in our government?

I know, right?! Becuase that's obviously how U.S. senators should comport themselves, particularly in committee hearings in the U.S. Capitol.

Dems shouldn't be calling anyone dumb.

😅🤣😂

Why tell the truth about anything?
Lying is fun!
  • The post spreads misinformation by falsely claiming the University of Delaware denied Jill Biden a PhD; no such statement exists, and the cited dean, Joseph Barron, is not affiliated with the university, which lists Rena Hallam as interim dean of the College of Education and Human Development.
  • Jill Biden earned an Ed.D. (Doctor of Education) from the University of Delaware in 2007 after completing her dissertation on community college student retention, distinguishing it from a Ph.D. though both are doctoral degrees.
  • The claim echoes a 2020 Wall Street Journal op-ed criticizing her use of the "Dr." title, fueling partisan debate, with the post garnering over 8,000 likes and replies largely mocking her credentials while some users note the Ed.D. distinction.

I'll respond to you and Bear at once. First, I'm not sticking up for Mullin. He shot his mouth off and deserves to be called out for it.

I'll respond to you and Bear at the same time. I'm not standing up for Mullin. He shot off his mouth and deserves to be called out. I just don't think Ryan is the guy to do it. There are others in Congress who have served in war zones and have actually smelled war in combat.

Concern me about heading DHS? I don't think that half (just an out of the air number) of the people are qualified to head cabinet level departments...Hegseth, Mayorkis, Granholm, Bacera, our current SecLabor I could go on adinfinitum. Most of these people have never run a candy store and we appoint them to run departments with 5 or more layers of management with multimillion $$budgets. Is it any wonder we don't know where our money goes

Trump is no different, IMO, but at least he has appointed some with business/management experience. I have posted many, many times that the federal government is incapable of managing all these programs. Part of the reason is that the Heads of the departments have no experience beyond being a congressman or senator who principally need to manage getting to the office on time and a fundraiser in the evening.

Somebody posted "the government is not a business". True..but for some reason we talk about revenues, expenses, deficits, debt, hire and fire, extend CAPEX, and manage 100s of thousands of employees. We do financial audits, which we never pass, and give away money with no idea where it will end up. Government is not a business but it requires management. And appointing people with no management skill of experience just seems dumb to me
