Wrote a letter urging Eli to reverse the decision on Barnhart’s retirement gig.
The decision should be reversed. If Mitch Barnhart is unwilling to continue as Athletic Director, the University should settle the contract and allow him to move on without leaving a lingering shadow of criticism and cronyism over an institution that so many care deeply about.

In typical UK fashion, it will all be ignored until it just goes away. Much like the Billy Clyde contract, swim team scandal etc… And Mitch will sit back and count his money.
If Mitch is done being the AD, then he needs to move on and relinquish full control to his successor. We don't need Mitch hanging around and screwing things up by playing the role of shadow AD. The guy has already been allowed to screw up too many things in his time here. Just cut him loose and let him go on his way. We need entirely new blood in charge of this athletic department.

I love it! Everyone should speak up about this nonsense! This man has ruined our major programs and spent decades too long in his role. He doesn’t deserve this golden parachute for all these terrible hires and wasteful contracts!

I actually don't read both. For me, it was informative. I dismiss a lot of stuff on this board because of the source. Random posters very often give blatantly uninformed opinions and distort facts to push a narrative. However, in this case, we have a big money booster raising some serious concerns. I am glad it was posted.
We shouldn’t let it disappear, in fact we should bring up the Swim team every chance we get. He should be held accountable for that!
I will never donate or spend a dollar on UK sports as long as this in play, he already made millions off mediocrity, same for Pope.
I don’t think we should allow Mitch to wait until June and he should be fired if he doesn’t fire pope before end of day.

Is this letter considered part of Eli’s “listening tour?” If so, take note and tell Mitch thank you for your service but it’s time to move on for all parties. We need new blood.
He’s enabled a lot of the nonsense that’s gone on in athletics. From Mitch’s dumb hires, terrible contracts to Stoops, Cal and yes, Pope (extension for a S16
), scandals, coverups, JMI 25 year deal, talking down to fans, alienating the average fan, game day atmospheres like the Opera House, no alcohol until recently, taking away the tailgating areas, etc. Enough is enough.
