Read today’s article before popping off would be my suggestion
I love Folger, but I would be shocked if that happens. Hopefully I’m wrong though. I would be thrilled with three. I just want Caden ready to go at the first sign of Folger struggling.Hopefully Boaz can give us 5 solid innings and turn it over to the pen.
I mean seriously… people think he’s gonna go 7.Do you guys think Forbes is going to leave him in there for 8 innings or something?
Certainly a fair opinion.I’m glad for the kid that he’s getting a chance in the CWS after getting passed over in the Supers. Having said that, this is a mistake. When you have a chance to pitch your best starter two more times on four days rest, you have to do it.
He wasn’t bad in the regionals…..I think Boaz will be ready. He hasn't pitched in a while and ready to erase his bad mark from the regionals.....I think its a good decision
Big facts!!!If he gives you anything more than 3, then you're playing with house money.
If you win the first 2 games you don’t need a 3 SP in the finalsI will note, the 3rd SP position has killed us all season. Let’s hope it isn’t what undoes this magical run (will need a 3rd SP if we make it to the finals too)
Since when is allowing 1 run, with 1 BB and 4 K in 3.1 IP a "bad mark"? I will take that in a heartbeat tomorrow.I think Boaz will be ready. He hasn't pitched in a while and ready to erase his bad mark from the regionals.....I think its a good decision
Nope, WVU will likely be all hands on deck tomorrow.my question is would any of us trade pitching staff situations with either WVu or Troy tomorrow? I wouldn't. If any combination of Boaz, Rose, Matty M can get us through 9 innings giving up 5 runs or fewer we should win. and if we don't it will be on the offense. We will be facing a non-elite pitching staff playing their 4th game in 6 days. Offense needs to put up big numbers
Fair questions that I don't have the answer too. I hope Forbes does--he sure has so far.Certainly a fair opinion.
Do you think you’re going to get the best version of him throwing him on a schedule he’s never done twice?
Is there any guarantee there’d be a game 3 if DeCaro doesn’t throw one of the first two?
I DON'T see this happening, actually, but just my opinion. Rose is another lefty, and while they don't have the same stuff, it's close enough to not make WVU adjust to something different. Just don't think if Boaz gets in trouble, Rose will be the first call to put the fire out... I'm sure he could be used later, but I'm guessing it's MM, Globe or Duff if the game is competitive as the first call, and if it's past the 3rd inning and still competitive, I'd take MM out of the equation for first call. Forbes want to win tomorrow and that has been done by using starters, Duff and Globe. Doubt that approach changes.Actually depending on the situation I can actually see Jackson Rose coming in relief of Boaz
It's pretty simple and Forbes has discussed it this year, when a lot us thought Folger was headed to the pen later in the year due to his struggle period. Because Rose is effective out of the pen. Folger is not. The only way you can keep the possibility of both helping you win is to start Boaz. Why not start Rose? He has been lights out and pitching his best in the postseason. I didn’t realize stating I didn’t have confidence in a pitcher with an ERA over 7 pitching well against a good team in Omaha was such a controversial opinion
Hopefully, we won't. Win the first two and there's no third game.I will note, the 3rd SP position has killed us all season. Let’s hope it isn’t what undoes this magical run (will need a 3rd SP if we make it to the finals too)

He started him in an elimination/ winner goes to the CWS, loser goes home for the summer game (with also the knowledge that the win would also get your whole staff at a minimum 4 days rest). Tomorrow isn't that. While he'll do most anything to win tomorrow, the goal is to win the whole damn thing. Wasting Globe as a starter tomorrow (and him being done for likely the whole possible championship series) even in a win just isn't an option, and it shouldn't be IMO.To be fair he also repeatedly said he'd rather use Globe in relief across the weekend and then started him. Things change this time of year
I agree with your post and Forbes' decision. Was just pointing out that I wouldn't go solely off of what Forbes has said before because this is a different time of yearHe started him in an elimination/ winner goes to the CWS, loser goes home for the summer game (with also the knowledge that the win would also get your whole staff at a minimum 4 days rest). People really need to understand this... WVU will be selling out for the win. They have no choice. We will get all their best pitchers not named Yehl and Montesa - including all the guys who pitched Friday against Troy (Korn and Chanson, who are basically their Friday night combo). Runs will still be at a premium and thinking they're going to throw their 4th starter and other non regular guys is just a pipe dream.Nope, WVU will likely be all hands on deck tomorrow.
Even if we lose tomorrow, we still have Jason and Walker available on Thursday.
I’ll take our chances with Boaz, Rose and Caden tomorrow.

I’ll be happy with 3 innings. If he gives us six and we’re in the game… that’s icing. Need the bats to give him some helpThey are making the right and smart decision in my opinion. We see how it works out but it's the smart decision. We don't need Boaz to have a 2 ERA as a starting pitcher we just need him to give us five or six innings today and give up 2 runs . This time of year it's not about averages or ERA just be a 400 hitter today and throw strikes today.
This.Trust Forbes
lolBest part of waking up is Folger's in your cup. Unless you play for WVU because that means you probably took a HBP to the family jewels.
