If he can get through the order once I'm satisfied. Anything more than that and I'm elated—especially if it's vs. Troy
Hopefully Boaz can give us 5 solid innings and turn it over to the pen.
100%. Perfect set up would be 3 from Boaz, 3 from Globe, 3 from Duff.
If the offense could produce and build a lead, may could turn to Matty M or Padgett to steal a few innings and save the high leverage guys for the weekend. Also have Rose in there to use as well.
If he gives you anything more than 3, then you're playing with house money.
Agreed. I think 5 is the absolute most that we can hope for from him.
This is the right path IMO. When you're in the winner's bracket, it's not the time to start asking guys to do things they haven't all year, which is what you'd be doing by going back to DeCaro this quickly. And I'm not burning Glauber for the next 4 days in a non-elimination game.
Boaz for 3 —-> Rose for 3.

Think Forbes will pull him quickly if he gets in trouble. MM could be a positive factor, but it has been a while.
Think matty came in to finish the VCU game for his last appearance if I remember correctly. He looked good in that one

Actually depending on the situation I can actually see Jackson Rose coming in relief of Boaz

also, 5 would be icing. If he can give us the outing he did in the regional final, you’re happy with that.
Really rooting for the kid. Would put us in a great spot for the weekend if he can give us solid innings and we win

He hasn’t pitched like that very often either. I cannot fathom starting Boaz in such an important game. If we lose tomorrow we have to burn DeCaro on Thursday
Literally in his last start (in the exact same situation) he gave us 3.1 with 4K’s and 1 run allowed.
this is the regional all over. The only difference is you only have 2 days until the next round and not 5.

Agreed but I would not be worried about using either/both of them out of the pen IF we win. Two days off after gives them enough rest to be ready for Saturday assuming neither goes too long. I assume Forbes will go all out for the win Wednesday if we have a lead

I’ll say it like this and I’ll leave it alone. He has not been good this year and I will be stunned if he pitches well enough for us to win the game

This sounds like the classic oh his ERA is 7 so he isn't good. I agree he didn't have his best year, but his stuff has been looking good towards the end of the season. I think he rises to the occasion
Why not start Rose? He has been lights out and pitching his best in the postseason. I didn’t realize stating I didn’t have confidence in a pitcher with an ERA over 7 pitching well against a good team in Omaha was such a controversial opinion

While his earned run count was low, his WHIP was very high and he left the bases loaded for McDuffie in the 4th. Thankfully McDuffie slammed the door with a DP. Rose came in for long relief

I appreciate you optimism and I hope I am wrong but have we watched the same guy pitch this year? Glauber basically had to pitch a starters workload on Sundays this year

More concerned about Globe than Duff.
7.1 vs USC last Sunday, then throwing Friday, and Sunday. It’d be a lot if he throws again tomorrow. Not saying we shouldn’t use him per se, but would love to give him an extended break, if possible.
I will note, the 3rd SP position has killed us all season. Let’s hope it isn’t what undoes this magical run (will need a 3rd SP if we make it to the finals too)

That's a fine option. But Rose hasn't started a game since May 12. In his last two starts, he's combined for 3 innings and 3 runs allowed.
I'd rather start Boaz and go to Rose in the middle innings than the other way around. Fair if you'd rather start Rose. But acting like that's a no-brainer when he hasn't had a start as good as Boaz's last one since April 14 is weird to me.
The only thing I'm pushing back on is you cannot "fathom" a top-5 team continuing the same path that got them to this point.
