Cal better start working his *** off trying to get a big guy to reclassify. We're not winning a title with Montgomery, Richards, and Sestina in the post.
Well when u thro Brooks 6ft8 in and Whitley 6ft7 with a 6ft10 guys length aren’t going to contribute down low? Lmao sure ok! All Richards has to do is learn to stay out of foul trouble without improving at all if he could simply stay on the floor his per 30 stats are like 8 points 8 rebounds and 3.5 blocks a game. A guy who blocks anywhere near 4 blocks a game is a game changing elite rim protector who other coaches scheme around and other players alter their shots around. His 8 points aren’t much but he has the potential to effect the game by 20 points towards us. Throw in EJ can rim protect as well plus Richards is our best ft shooting 5 in a long time. So obviously with 30 min he most likely scores 10 a game! EJ has the potential to be one of his top 7 guys he has that kind of skill and u think cal is just lying about that?

Dangit guys.

Evan Daniels posted on the VT board (free thread, go check it out) that it is between UT and coming back to VT. Doesn’t even mention UK. Where do we turn from here?

I find it really hard to believe that ED is posting on a VT message board.

And Holy Hell, you've posted only 4 times in 10 years? Interesting.

IDK, I just feel like minimal effort was put in to get this guy.

Why did the Blackshear's cut the visit short?

None of this makes sense. If he wants to get to the NBA, why is Tennessee, Arkansas and Florida even on his list???

And now we're hearing that UK is fading? How?

This should have been a slam dunk for Cal, the only way this kid goes elsewhere is if he didn't feel comfortable or wanted while on his visit. We heard he wanted to go to UK (KY wants him and the Blackshear's have a mutual interest in joining the UK family). How did it change? Did Cal shrug his shoulders and act like we were fine either way?

We aren't "fine" if we whiff on KB. KB has a ton of dog in him, EJ and NR have none, they don't have that edge you have to have to win big.
We were the first in on him immediately had a sit down with KBJ and his dad and u think it was a minimal effort? Like I said the leaving early was probably planned like that and since our coaches and the Blackshears don’t talk it sound like a lot of speculation and an outsider doesn’t understand Cals commitment to players first and helping them thru the whole process! Hell its my opinion that if anything Blackshears saw him leaving for the draft of proof he keeps his word why he left early is guessing by the gurus and they are guessing wrong. Gonna be honest he goes to UT then they bought him and Cal doesn’t mean take part in that as we all know so not sure what else can be done if that was the case and we still maybe grab a reclass

The he shouldn't have run his mouth saying he cared about winning a championship.Makes him look like an idiot when he chooses UT.

Where's the quote of him saying that? Don't believe anything that is inferred from "sources" who magically have had him leaning to every school he was about to visit, about to commit/had committed on the visit, and nobody has any quotes from the actual player. If he hasn't stated anything, why should we believe what was written in regards to what he was looking for by people who have been proven to be incorrect?

When it comes to players and especially this position, playing time matters. They say it doesn't, then they are lying as much as Pro athletes that say "It's NOT about the $".

The only thing more automatic and becoming a real consistent problem with larger program are "sources" being actual fans on Twitter who know nothing. It's one thing for a media member to say something and go off that, but to think a fan who DM's another fan who reads premium recruiting info and then is lauded for being a "Source" is ridiculous.

There's a lot of speculation about that in-home visit too. There are rumors that Cal went, rumors it wasn't Cal and rumors that there never was a visit by anyone at UK. Actually, that last one wasn't a rumor, KB's dad said it didn't happen.

All I'm saying is, losing this recruit, who wants to get to the NBA and has 1 year to do so, to Tennessee, VT, Arkansas or Florida… .. is a real head scratcher.

How would you explain it?

If he chooses other than UK..so be it. The longer this goes on the more some posters hype him up to be all world. There'a reason he didn't stay in the draft. He still has work to do

The only thing I can say is that if KB goes anywhere but UK it is a bad decision, and we will likely be significantly worse than last year with Montgomery and Richards as the starting front court.

So it has been two days since his visit to UK and in that time your telling me VT is all of a sudden a player when they haven’t been mention at all since Blackshear started looking for a school to go to?

Yeah, if he goes back to VT or heads to UT, it tells me he has no interest in NCAAT success OR going to the NBA.

I agree completely, my only thing is at least UT has been considered a threat for Blackshear’s services these last couple of weeks, VT hasn’t been mention at all since he started these visits as a threat to land him so I’m questioning Evan Daniels and his “gut-feeling”

Especially since he is deciding tomorrow we believe

No, I don’t think the perceived rumors have anything to do with Florida. Just my opinion, which isn’t worth much.
Yeah, me either. I was just trying to lighten the mood. I will say this, if he does indeed pick ANY school over UK in his situation, it will go down as one of, if not the, “weirdest” business decisions I’ve had the opportunity to witness.

But then why would they be upset with Cal?
If he told them the same thing he just told the media:
if we add someone, fine, if not, fine.
Then I can understand why they would cut their visit short and also why we are hearing it's down to VT and UT.

I'm still not convinced Florida's out of the picture, despite a lot of rumblings saying they are. It'd make a lot more sense. Home state school. Glaring hole in the middle. Final Four caliber team with him. May as well stay at Virginia Tech than go to Tennessee.

I read this twice, what source said the visit was cut short?

Am I the only one who thinks
Like this;

I like my team. Really, really like my team. Great guard play expected(which is obviously huge in the tournament), some experience back, plenty of talent, sick freshman crop, high expectations. Yes blackshear puts us in a position to be the top team all year long vs top 5, arguably top 2. But without him we will be fine. Ej will take great leaps this year, Sestina will surprise us, and Nick will improve enough. A reclass would be nice, but I’m ready to rock with this team. Michigan st is the only team at this point I would even remotely say is possibly better than us. If Kansas stays healthy their bigs should be tough, but our guards are way better.
Screw duke.
All of this being said choosing orange over us just seems stupid.
Will Tennessee prepare you better for the draft...NO
Will Tennessee hive u a chance to win a champ ....no
Is it’s closer to home...technically yes but not enough to make a difference. If it was Florida I would at least understand this.
Its just a head scratcher for me. You might play another 5 minutes a game there but does that matter?
If he does choose ut I can’t wait to kick his *** twice. Of course if he chooses us I apologize.

I'm not sure what you think he should tell the media.Should he say we are screwed without adding another big?How would that make EJ,Nick and Sestina feel?He has to count on them since he missed on so many bigs and destroying their confidence sure won't help the team.

Blackshear isn’t getting drafted no matter which school he plays at. So why not go where you can play the most and be the featured player.

He's got to decide between exposure, deep tourney run (UK) and numbers (UT). Its that simple. I think he'll be a late second rounder next year either way. It will be interesting to see what direction he takes.

Kerry Blackshear Jr! Listen to me clearly!! UK is the only logical, no brainer option you have! Everyone with half a brain for the business knows this! Enjoy your weekend, before you pack for Lexington. TIA
