there are rumors he is coming back and choosing between staying at vt , uf ,uk and A&M but they are just rumors for now. I would think UK has its front court .

I honestly don’t think we need him! It’s time for Richards and EJ to play and work threw mistakes so they build confidence!

OR

They can show they know how to play in practice and earn their minutes. You should develop your game in the off-season and in practices.

At Kentucky, the standard should be higher than allowing players to play through constant bad play despite having better people on the roster.

I will never advocate for not getting elite talent and just letting the guys we have play through their mistakes.

Blackshear - Richards
Montgomery - Sestina
Whitney - Brooks - Allen
Maxey - Juzang
Hagans - IQ

Let's go Joker style and have "tryouts".

I don't understand this comment. Was this sarcasm?

Cal wouldn't think twice if Blackshear wanted to come to UK. We absolutely need a proven post player.
I think we have different perceptions of “need”. I don’t think we are desperate for a post player like I would’ve felt without EJ. We could still win a title with our current roster next year. I’d love to have him, but “need” is a strong word given our current roster. Of course if he wants to come, Cal should take him (and be actively recruiting him).

I would like to see him at Florida. I think it would be a good spot for him and a definite need for Florida.
I’m a fan of Florida and several other conference schools.

I can't really see the appeal of why he would go to UF. He comes to UK, Richards and Montgomery get some minutes slashed. Sestina would be the only true "loser" in that scenario imo.

At UK, you play for the runaway favorite in 2020 to win the title and have the best chance to get a college basketball ring (if that's important to you).

You play for John Calipari, the coach who has had by far the most success getting guys NBA contracts and has helped guys like Josh Harrelson (who nobody ever saw having a chance at an NBA career) make the league. You also are in the limelight night in and night out playing for the best fanbasr in college basketball.

I'm not bashing you for wanting him at Florida, but just based off his comments, UK makes much more sense (assuming that what he has said is correct) than Florida.

UK will get him ready for the NBA. Florida will get him ready for a gig in retail.

Bro he averaged like 20 and 10 last year in a P5 conference.......if he isn't getting drafted this year, it's doubtful he does next year. Especially since this year is a weaker draft.

Aside from geography and family ties-

Florida has a loaded roster other than the center spot. He would get huge minutes with really no competition - leaving the court only for a breather. He’d get 30mpg at UF, and his addition would turn Florida into a final four contender.
Kentucky is already a final four contender and has much better frontcourt personnel already in place than uf.

Playing for Cal at UK least gives him a chance of the effect giving him a slight boost.

Maybe not.

If he really wants to be a pro, UK is definitely his best place to have the potential of better odds.

Ridiculous statement to make. We have no physical post presence. Before nick and ej announced for the draft everyone said we had to have him. Now we are fortunate to get ej back and that’s all we need. Getting sick off this run around.

I don't know anything personally about Blackshear, but I don't know why family ties or geography would figure into the equation.

He has played 3 seasons in Virginia. His goal is to play in the NBA where he might be playing in Toronto or LA and if he doesn't make an NBA roster, he may play overseas. 9 months of good geography and being close to your family when you may hurt your chances of reaching your ultimate goal of playing in the NBA may suffer is that important?

Also, that's kind of exactly my point about UK vs UF. At UF, he would make them a potential FF contender. At UK, he would make them a dominant team and get the same or approximately the same minutes at either place.

It just seems like a no-brainer to me, but I've learned to never take what these guys say to heart as many recruits do things that are completely illogical to me. I appreciate the info you provide, but just hope you're wrong on this one lol.

Don’t be a homer. The only reason he would go back to college is to become nba quality player. Uk and it’s stage is the only school to offer that exposure. Florida is no better than va tech for exposure. Every uk game 20 scouts and constant feedback. Florida doesn’t have it

The UK frontcourt is still a mystery. It consists of two five star bigs who haven't proven anything yet, a grad transfer, and an incoming small ball four man who who wasn't a composite top 15 player in his class.

If that intimidates Blackshear, than Blackshear hasn't been paying attention.

Homer?
I’d have been happy if Kerry picked Kentucky had EJ stayed in the draft.
I suspect if he returns to college, KBJ will be at Florida. If I am wrong, feel free to remind me.

Im not sure intimidated, but there would be a more significant sharing of minutes than at Florida.
But it may be more clear if you look at it from a different perspective— Do you not think EJ made his decision with the knowledge of who might be on the roster?
Anyway, I have no interest in convincing anyone. Afterall, we will all find out eventually. And it’s possible I am wrong.

We definitely could use him. Plus with fouls and Richards gets called for fouls just breathing on guys half the time. Plus do we really know if Sestina can play in a tougher conference and our tough schedule. Hopefully he can dominate but I guess we will find out. I think Brooks is the key in the frontcourt

I've always appreciated your demeanor and information, but I don't understand how you deny you're a Florida fan first. When pressed, you come up with ambiguous lines (like the second one in the post I just quoted) about how you cheer for UK and other SEC schools.

If there's eight SEC teams in the Elite Eight, which one are you hoping wins the national title?

He’s not going to UF if his goal is to get to the nba. Florida doesn’t have the facilities, the exposure or the stage. It would be a lateral move from va tech.

My answer to your final question would depend on who the coaches are at the time. Mike White would have Florida toward the top of the list.
But my list changes. I very much like Mark Fox. Tom? Not so much.
