Teddy KGB would have had this recruitment wrapped up long ago.

My friend is a Virginia Tech graduate. He is long time friends with an adjunct Tech professor, and his nephew is on the campus police force. Again, I hope this info is wrong. I would love for Blackshear to be a Cat!

I was at Rupp Arena the day it was inaugurated and they brought out the recliner for the Baron!
We all believe you, you are no doubt the greatest fan to have ever fanned. Adolf Rupp's personal whistle polisher no doubt. Thank you for your service!

Because professors and campus police are the very best source for basketball recruiting info. *roll eyes*

Close friend with ties to Virginia Tech saying that decision is likely today by Blackshear. Supposedly, it's between Virginia Tech and the Vols.
Great job and thank you. Not sure why you waited so long to reveal this very inside information though. Possibly, you were too busy. Thanks again.

Surely someone on this board has a friend who’s a UK professor, or has a distant family member that works for UK campus police? If so please check with them to verify the info on Blackshear’s decision. TIA!

Blackshear saga is theater at its finest as always with recruiting and draft decisions. It is keeping this board active on an otherwise boring and dead time of year for college basketball post-draft.

So after all this it's likely that he's just gonna stay at VT? What a freakin waste of time!

I do but it’s a lie just like most of the people predicting stuff on here.

I graduated from Va Tech and went there while Blackshear was there. I have 100s of friends still there. By your reasoning I’m more qualified to know where he’s going. FWIW I’ve heard Oregon but only time will tell

Blackshear graduated from VT and has been pretty busy since then traveling to NBA tryouts and college visits. He likely ended his relationship with VT when announcing a possible transfer and probably will never set foot there again. His coach is no longer there. Yet he's making his intentions known around VT and these random VT employees know what he's doing? Yeah, right.

I've heard from TwitterBook that Millersburg Military Institute has made a late push . Hid dad's ex step cousin in law likes the way Kerry looks in uniform and said his walk is made for the military . Should be official by 21:30 .

Campus police would certainly have reason to be "in the know" on basketball recruiting. And the adjunct professor is just icing on the cake.

it just shows there is more to the story....He obviously does not want to be on our team and if we succeeded in persuading him to be on our team, I would not be happy with the decision because he obviously does not care about winning. There must be other motives. You turn down "the" top program that does well for players entering the nba and we just happen to do well in our conference and in the ncaa tourney......that shows other problems that we do not know about.

Nothing against you and blackshear could end up going elsewhere without a doubt but im not concerned about a student, professor or cop at virginia tech and their insight into what kerry blackshear decides to do. Doubt they know much if anything

Inquiring minds would like to know...remember that movie "Blue Chips"?

Wonder if that type of atmosphere is prevalent in college ball at the moment.

We were hearing initially that it was: aTm-Ark-UK-UF or stay at VaTech.

It was reported that what he was looking for was:
1. Closer to home (Orlando).
2. Solid Academics for his Masters.
3. Need at his position.
4. A chance for a deep run at the Dance.

1. UF is close enough that he could drive home for supper if he wanted to.
2. UF has a Top 10 rating in Academics.
3. UF's biggest weakness the past 2 years has been the front court.
4. Mike White has 4 consecutive 20+ win seasons, with 3 consecutive Dances, none ending in a one&done, best an Elite-8. Also, his last 2 recruit classes have been Top 10's and he has 1 open ship to give.

This made me believe that the Gators at least had a decent chance at getting him, in the ballpark anyway.

And I came here this morning because I figured that if anyone would know, it would be UK B-Ball fans....

It did indeed seem to go from Florida, to Arkansas, back to Florida, to Kentucky, to Tennessee, then possibly a stay at Virginia Tech.

Which tells me one thing: this is one of those rare situations where the player is probably legitimately torn.

Best thing about living in the west coast is by the time I wake up I have plenty of comical reading every morning while I’m on the *******.
A professor or a cop lol. I’m sure they would know so much. The blackshear family tells those types of people before anybody else knows.

This made me chuckle. I just moved to the west coast a month ago, and I have found when I get up in the morning theres already fresh news to read. While I sit here on the toilet I found your post that just wrapped it all up.

Call me crazy but I have a feeling wherever he goes he fizzles out. Meaning he doesn't play up to his potential. Sometimes changing teams, coaches, and a new style of play can slow down a players game/style. I do think he is good enough to continue those numbers or get better but sometimes it just doesn't help. My blue shades are on so I do think coming to UK he will benefit from Coach Payne and our good guard play.

Completely disagree. He will be the best center in cbb this season. If he goes to UK he make the best front court in the SEC even better and if he goes to UT then they willl have a chance a t making the tourney. Really there is no choice if it is between winning and the NBA or losing and wearing ugly orange .
