@BJB - I support you completely. You have done nothing wrong; you have struggled and that is natural for a freshman to do. You have done nothing to embarrass the University. I understand you are trying hard to be better, and to be a good team mate. I appreciate you choosing to play here at the University of Kentucky. I see good days ahead for you. Keep going, keep moving forward, hard work pays off.

Whether he realises it or not his tweet is seeking sympathy to fuel his self affirmation. It's working, just read the replies. He's young, when I was his age I did a lot of the same internal monologue, self affirmation type stuff.

Right now he needs support, and also a little bit of humility wouldn't hurt either. He'll learn as he gets older.

In essence it means he doesnt pay attention to what haters on this board say about him.
Listen... I do not think there is one hater, not one necessarily. If you come in and play not only for yourself, your future, you family, your past, your demons, your hopes, your prayers, and everything else we all have dealt with in our own world... when you loose sight of your own hard work, the ones who pulled you along... even though to sometimes for their own advantage, when people want to see you do good for your own good...

when you start focusing on “
It sounds to me like he is just trying to take responsibility for his poor play.It must be frustrating for him to be struggling so much.I really do hope he can start playing better.
Me too! I am rooting for him, not against him at all! Just join in BJ, join the team now! Help lead us... no longer about where you are going, it’s about where you are at now!

Yeah here’s something new. Why don’t we get behind him rather than projecting our frustrations on him.

If he and Clarke get it going then add Brooks this team could be dangerous. Team showing some life. We need some wing firepower.

We were all 18-19. Away from home and no older UK experienced teammates to help him out. It’s a game. He’s an underdog now. Help lift him up like you would your kid.
So, still think only three players leave at the end of the season?

sk, I don't think any fan on here hates this young man. Some may not be happy with his playing, but hate is not the word they use. Your the one using it.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!
I ask that you take a minute and review remarks made about this kid over the last 3 weeks. I recognize it as hate or very strongly worded dislike. I am pulling for this kid in a big way. I support every kid that chooses to play for UK and I do not care who starts. I think there are about 10 posters on this board that try to outdo each other in crudeness and being mean spirited when talking about Cal and some of our players.

I tried to listen for the boos last night for a 2nd time and still don't know where they took place at. 1st half, 2nd half, I don't know.
Late 2nd half when the game was very close. 15+ seconds on the shot clock, no passing, Boston just stepped inside the 3pt line and took a really bad shot. I mean, his form was awful, he was leaning back, had 1 foot off the floor and totally bricked it.
We're 8 games in and he has to know by now that it's shots like that, that put us at 1-6. Why he would take that shot again is beyond me.

Well said. Sad that the lay of the land these days (at least at Kentucky) is that you are a failure if you are not a superstar from day 1.

I doubt Cal ever seriously thought he'd be in this position at UK

and consequently, the cumulative effect of his system , from his definition of it, to the implementation of it, has helped create this environment where its hard for some fans to see a player like Boston as just a 19 year old kid.

They know he is marking off the days on the calendar before he can get out of here, and that started the second he set foot on campus. They also know that his contributions have not matched the hype he had coming in - and when you only have 28 or so games with him, we're 1/3 into the season with his contribution being negligible to the extent we can't have him on the floor at end of game situations. It also doesn't help that the fan base was proven right about their demands to decrease his impact on the game while increasing Dontae Allen and Cal attempted to justify Boston with an almost non-sensical defense before relenting- then admitted that Boston reverts to his AAU style of play when things don't go well.

I hate that the kid got boo'd , but this situation had been boiling for awhile.
Its hard to have the tolerance for a mercenary mentality, especially when they don't deliver early - and fans have come to believe that regardless - whether he helps the team or hurts the team, he looks to put UK in the rearview mirror after his last game here this season.

He's the alpha of the group so heavy is the crown.
Solid post

Didn’t like the booing but not surprised.

Being out of state don’t often get to Rupp but I distinctly recall being at Mich St game at Rupp when Prince blocked the final shot to preserve a 1 point win.

During the game there was a nearby fan talking to his pal who obviously was not familiar with the team. He said pointing out a particular player, That’s Saul Smith. He’s the coaches son and is a (7 or 8 expletives deleted) I had brought my son for his first and only trip to Rupp. It was extremely embarrassing while at the same time enraging.

But there’s’ bad apples in every group of any size.

Apparently it’s toxic to call a selfish bad shooter a selfish bad shooter. Go figure.

honestly, most of the criticism has been on Cal for giving him such a long leash. He’s a kid who needs discipline and as his coach that is Cals responsibility in all things basketball related.

kinda like when you see a mean kid in elementary school. 9 times out of 10 it’s the parents fault.

Let's not complain about booing. There's a small fraction in attendance compared to 24,000. Just be glad you're not stinkin up the joint with a full house.

He is a kid in the sense that his frontal cortex is still underdeveloped and thus he does stupid things for stupid reasons, even moreso than an average adult (which is saying a lot).

For that reason, he should make every effort to be humble and coachable, and adults should leave him TF alone on Twitter.

-This is Cal’s fault. He has built this monster and now it is coming back to get revenge on him.
-I would never boo the kid publicly, but I am sick of what I am watching from him
-we all know he is only here to use UK for his own benefit which I am fine with if we as fans get a benefit in return

i hate it happened but it doesn’t surprise me in the heat of frustration. Now, if the kid gets booed during introductions then we do have a problem. However I would expect Cal better get ready for some boo birds next time his name is called at Rupp.

Yes, that's where there was a smattering of boos. I will say, I took it as not ugly/mean spirited, more like a frustration boo with the bad shot selection...like ah geez....you really took that shot?

Don’t know what got Boston’s panties in a wad. Don’t know what the boos were for. Don’t care. Adults should not be on social media with kids, period. That said, I refuse to coddle him, he will be a millionaire in a few months. Time for him to man up and perform.

Cal is to blame. Too short of a leash allowing Boston to take horrible shot after horrible shot with no consequences. All the while playing tons of minutes.
This would never happen if we didn’t rely on freshman every year.
As Cal says “I can’t hide you” and he didn’t try with BJ. Hopefully he pulls out of it, but maybe he should concentrate on defense and passing to wide open teammates. Don’t see people get booed for that.

Wouldn't it be too long of a leash?

No, Cal doesn't need any help with that.

Do you even realize just last year Cal was named Best coach and Best Program of the last 10 years? Yes this year so far has been hard and bad but your take is stupid and shows your ignorance.

Some of you folks are just merciless and heartless. That's my opinion. And yes, he's talking to you. I would love to see this kid succeed, but whether it ever happens here or not, we do owe him some support and some grace. Some here obviously believe they have a right to be cruel to him. And I suppose you do, but maybe you should ask if this were your son how you'd want him to be treated.

If he were my son I wouldn't be letting a documentary crew follow him around. If I were his dad I would think that might be a bit much and a distraction.
