It seems like the division is really on the upswing. Almost every team in the division has reason to be optimistic about next season. Obviously some will sink and some will swim, but the coaching and talent in the division could be the highest since we joined the conference, next year.

Nebraska: Played good football the second half on the season, 4-2 with close losses at OSU and Iowa. Return a stud QB, best recruiting class in the division. A lot of early Top 25 talk from national writers.

Purdue: Brohm is back, Moore is back, they are adding two big time WR's (Wright and Bell). Depending on QB play, their O could be very good and Brohm can flat coach.

Minnesota: Played good football after firing their DC, beat down Wisconsin, Purdue and GT, Fleck is a weirdo, but he can recruit and his teams play hard.

Iowa: They are still Iowa. They will be solid and will think they are great. The return alot and will find a way to win 8 games, exactly 8 games.

Wisconsin: Lose their QB, lose most of their OL, but return most of their defense and Taylor. They will still be Wisconsin.

Northwestern: The defending division champ. They seem to do it with smoke and mirrors, but they are well coached and physical. Thorson is gone,, but they bring in a 5-star transfer from Clemson, so their offense might actually be better. I'm sure they will have some tiny white guy we can't cover on 3rd down, in the slot.

Illinios: What can you say about the Illini? Lovie has a great beard. Rod Smith is also a good OC and they had a good rushing attack last year. They also bring in some nice skill people. Williams at QB is a 5-star type athlete and Beason and transfer Jeff Thomas could be scary at WR.

To be taken seriously the west needs to win its fair share of conf titles

Since formation in 2014 the west has never won the conference. The divisions are judged nationally by their top teams. Until it proves otherwise the teams in the west are playing for the right to lose in the conf championship to the east representative.

Don't count out Wisconsin once the oline starts on the peds they'll be ok

While this is true it doesnt change the intent or validity of the OP. The West does seem to be on an upswing of what it was.

Don’t sell him short. This is the same guy that just said Benhart doesn’t have any offers from “OL schools”. Because ND, Michigan, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Oregon and Tennessee don’t count.

He can take a lickin and keep on tickin.

Wait until people start making their "way too early 2019 top 25 projections" after the bowl games are over. I'm sure we will make some of them. Not sure we will actually be preseason ranked, but we should be getting votes, and should be able to get in at least after a 4-0 start, which we should be able to do.

Purdue fans can't be too excited after watching today's game. My wife is an alumni. Auburn is scoring every time they touch the ball. Something definitely is going on with the Boilers and it is not good.

Good writer, no doubt, but if hes wrong it will be a splash comment no one thinks of 2 minutes later and 1 does not equal "many". You can find one person in this world saying just about everything.

There are others who have said very positive things. Danny Kanell said after the Ohio State game that we would be competing for conference titles as soon as next year. Kirk Herbstreit has made positive comments about us too. People who think things are really looking up for us aren't hard to find.

They have been an odd team all year, really. Laid down and got rolled by Minny, but beat OSU.

Not some random guy, Brett McMurphy and there have been plenty of others. And immediately got crushed? GTFO with asinine garbage. It is pretty clear that many in the CFB world believe Frost has Nebraska headed for success (yes there are plenty of articles that can be linked), just because you don’t want to hear it or don't agree (not that you are exactly impartial or knowledgeable) doesn’t change that.

It’s pretty dumb that the east gets its reputation from names and the conference championship. What division do the last two teams to beat OSU play for? Iowa has been essentially finger tips from beating PSU two years in a row. NW barely lost to Michigan this year. Nebraska stuck with OSU this year as well. The difference in the divisions is very slim but because of one game.... I’m probably preaching to the choir but you get it.

I do think the division is indeed getting better yet with some good coaches. The new coaches have all shown to be human though.

You referenced Iowa vs Penn State above, NW v Mich and Nebr v OSU. The west was 0-4 in those games you referenced to go along with the 0-5 in the conf championship games which pits the best teams from each division.

Yes Purdue and Iowa beat OSU because upsets happen. You will find no one who would argue that either of those teams were better than OSU other than in those games.

The east has 5 conf champions to zero in the west. Since the divisions were split east and west - the east has had 11 teams finish in the top 10 at the end of the year and the west 3 teams.

I want to start by saying I wasn't over here for Purdue stuff. I live in NE and come over often to see what's going on with Nebraska.

But as a Purdue fan, I wouldn't say today was super disappointed. I kind of saw it coming. 90% of purdues talent is underclassman. Between the iu game and today, Purdue's starting defense went from what it was to starting two freshman DT's, a LB at DE, and maybe 2 freshman LB'ers as their best was injured and played limited I think. Plus their safety played for the first time in 2 months after getting a staph infection and losing 25 pounds and their best corner was injured last week and didn't play.

The future is bright at Purdue as there was a lot of young guys playing and it looks like Purdue is bringing in a top 25 class. The future is super bright. I honestly think the winner of Purdue and Nebraska could decide the west in most years.

Minnesota has been the most impressive team to me because of how they finished their season.

Brohm is making it long and athletic. I don't think he's signed a DB under 6 foot. Most of the d-line is 6'4+. The d-line is getting some serious talent this next year. Issue is, your going to be asking a couple true freshman to play big minutes. Granted, one is a top 100 recruit, so maybe you should expect him to play? Not sure. It's been a long time since Purdue has had a top 200 recruit. This year they might get 3 assuming David Bell goes to Purdue.

The defense returns a lot, but it's still only going to have maybe 4 or 5 upperclassmen starting I think.
