Big problems ahead via Kylin Hill

And FYI, Tate can't do anything. He can't unilaterally change the flag. The legislature can though and then Tate could either sign the bill into law or veto it.
Our anger should be at Gunn and delbert.

Gunn is trying to put it to a vote. Delbert is the one who put it in committee to die.

That's already happening, has nothing to do with the MS state flag, and is something I'm 100% against and I think will ultimately be overturned.

I disagree on this one Drebin. If you want change - Kylin and a lot of other African-Americans hold some big bargaining chips. It sucks for us as fans. But I guarantee you if there isn't college football because of this, I will be more pissed at our state government than the players standing up for something they believe in.

Several times in my life, for several different circumstances I have decided one day that I was not going to put up with the **** that was bothering me any longer - not one minute longer. I'll give our black players the right to feel exactly the same.

Our legislators are do nothing cowards. They need to place there hands where their balls should be and make this happen. I could not care less what our flag looks like, only that the present one alienates a large segment of our population.

Which is why it's really annoying that Hill pitched a hissy fit on twitter. He's might have to either go back on his claim or leave, b/c I don't think the NCAA or SEC's actions are going to get 2/3rds vote right now, and I'm not sure Tate is going to call a special session. I think a special session is "only" around $80k for the first day and then $50k for each day thereafter, but if we won't be missing out on any fall events and can get a vote in the next regular session before any deadlines for spring sports, then I think Tate can probably justify not calling a special session for it.

Yea, if enough players threaten. Great if it happens. But I'm not sure if it will or not. Pretty much all the players have been dealing with (or probably more accurately ignoring) the flag for years and probably aren't willing to sit out a year or transfer over it. They are mostly playing college football because they like football and want to play.

Also, if you don't play you will have to transfer and hope the NCAA allows you immediate eligibility. You can sit out at your current school if you want but if you do you will not keep your scholarship and you will be paying your own way.

Why should that point have occurred years ago? Why can't it occur now? Why is it not ok for a young man to feel confident enough in himself, with the help of the support of others around him, to speak out?


Maybe he felt this way about the flag but lacked the confidence. Maybe he'd just flat out never given it much thought cause thats the way it had always been and it didn't seem like it would ever change. It's possible there are plenty of reasons why he didn't say anything before, and it's possible there are plenty of reasons why he's saying something now.

RE: him making a statement years ago on signing day: he has the ability to have a MUCH larger impact now than then. Playing in MS and being the SECs leading rusher, and speaking out carries much more weight than another 4 star high school RB from MS leaving the State, but giving his reason for doing so as "the flag is racist".

All that could be true. It could also maybe even be as simple as a 21-22 year old man having more self awareness and a more complex world view than they did when they were a 17-18 year old high school kid.

That’s not his only option. He could enter the NFL supplemental draft and go ahead and start getting paid. Him returning for his senior year at the 11th hour likely indicates that he got a late-round / undrafted grade anyway, so there’s a pretty good chance his ceiling is only 4th / 5th round at best even if he plays and catches 100 passes next year.

Nobody cared what Kylin Hill thought when he was in high school. Now that he's considered the top running back in the SEC, he has enough clout to make a difference, or at least plausibly try.
