You and everyone else in this thread was keenly aware that NE is NOT part of the AAU. So wouldn’t you think fans from schools that ARE part of the AAU would know?
But what’s the real reason Hunter?

Good luck to you. If Appalachian state can upset Michigan and shock the world….then I guess miracles can happen and Michigan can win.
Jesus, how many years ago was that? Just shows how much jealousy there is out there for the team with the most wins in college football history. Let that sink in. One more time. The most wins in CF history. GO BLUE

Very true, but man that was truly an epic, one for the ages upsets.

I mean, if we are playing the hypothetical game...I would rather be back in the Big 12. Where road trips did not take a minimum of 8 hours.

Great road trips to UCF, Houston, Louisville, WV...

FWIW, Wolve1972 is an Ohio State fan who spends his days pretending to be a Michigan fan for "laffs". He has been a fixture on the Penn State board for years.

Well I agree it’s not a common topic to discuss, but pretty sure most fans are aware. I think you’d be surprised.
I would be surprised if 1% of students applying to or graduating from...knew if their college was part of the AAU. So would you.

****...50% of the students can't even tell you what conference he school is in or who the next game is against in most sports.

I said fans, not students.

But I agree that your average 18 -22 year old student couldn’t care less, but I bet most older B1G alumni sports fans from top universities are definitely aware.

Not really. But I've learned to switch my allegiance when the situation calls for it:):). I'll slam OSU on the Michigan boards. You have to admit - these boards are hilarious. The "Wolve" was my given nick name in HS and has stuck ever since

Good luck with your road trips in the Big 12 when it blows apart or combines with what's left of the PAC in a couple of years. Oh, and for those complaining about the B1G, I forgot to add that Nebraska is the only school in the conference that isn't an AAU member. What a great addition
Elaborate why a commoner as yourself beats the drum of your school being an AAU member. I mean for ***** sake do AAU members have like a cool handshake or a neat treehouse to hang in?

It's a secret handshake that I'm not supposed to talk about.

Not so sure he's an OSU fan as he slams OSU on other boards. He just tries to get a reaction depending on what board he's on and can be quite funny at times.

I don’t know what the reason is that NE is not a member of the AAU. Don’t worry about, it’s not THAT big of a deal. Plus I’m sure your ****** career is almost done anyway.

They are not. Because once you leave college, unless it is an Ivy league school, your affiliation to that school has everything to do with sports and your kids attending. There is not an alum anywhere that has an "Iowa AAU" hoodie.

When most people hear AAU they think HS basketball.

7 straight losses deserves more respect. Did no one tell these people we were the best 3-9 team of all time?

Nebraska medical school wasn’t on campus and was on the Omaha campus..
You can google it yourself but were too lazy.. Might want to read the second reason and educate yourself why your making this more than what it is..

Sure...just like all of us are "aware" when it rains. But it doesn't mean we talk about it all the time or care about it.

When I went to NU they were in the AAU and I never knew it and none of my friends or people in class or professors ever once mentioned it.

Look, the first rule of holes is to stop digging when you are in one. So, stop digging.

Who said anything about talking about it. I said “aware”, which most fans are. Now go back into your hole.

2020 (Northwestern Big Ten West Champs) Bowl Results, 2-0
Northwestern > Auburn
Wisconsin > Wake Forest

2018 (Northwestern B1G West Champs) Bowl Results, 4-1
Northwestern > Utah
Iowa > Mississippi St
Wisconsin > Miami
Minnesota > Georgia Tech
Purdue < Auburn

Guess the SEC, ACC & PAC suck more
Go back and look at the matchups…I’m to lazy to do it, but if your argument is that the B1G is a stronger conference, literally nobody who knows anything about football agrees.

It is amazing how you keep telling us how little importance you place on AAU while trying to tell us how important it is.

It went from being super important and an embarrassment
Then
It went from fans talking about AAU not students
Then
Just sort of being aware about it.

I'm not sure about this, but the AAU status at NE is not about academics, but the amount of grant money the University receives. Nebraska's grant money is low because the grants for medical research goes to the Nebraska Med center which is not considered part of the University. Am I right about this?
Partially, but that’s just one factor.

last year Georgia opened their season against #3 Clemson in prime time Week 0

here are the non-con headliners for both leagues this year:

SEC:
Florida hosts #7 Utah
T A&M hosts Miami
Georgia vs #17 Oregon in Atlanta
Alabama @ Texas
Arkansas hosts Cincy and plays @ BYU
LSU hosts Florida St
Tennessee @ Pitt
So Carolina vs Clemson

B1G:
Ohio St hosts #5 Notre Dame
Nebraska hosts #9 Oklahoma

Wisconsin host Washington St?
iowa vs iowa st?

There is also 1 cross-over game - Auburn vs PennSt

it is a myth propagated by loser B1G fans that the SEC plays nobody in the non-con

B1G programs (except Nebraska, OhioSt and PSU) rarely schedule marquee games because they are cowards and know they'll get boat raced
Maybe someone pointed this out and I missed it but you’re kind of leaving out some important information.

Illinois plays Virginia.
Minnesota plays Colorado.
MSU at Washington
Indiana at Cincinnati
Rutgers at BC
Purdue at Syracuse

Seems like every team has another P5 team scheduled. How good those teams are going to be when they actually play is a different story.
