Need to get these young fast WRs going. Last game was a good step with Malachi.

Wouldn't it kind of make sense that if you have so many teams with bad offenses in a conference that the better teams would be leading in defense?Top P5 Defenses - opponents ppg

Wisconsin until just recently has been very good. Lots of NFL players. The best defensive player in the NFL is from Wisconsin. If not the best, the most talented RB in the NFL is from Wisconsin. This is why I was and have been on the 9 wins as a floor campaign.
The west is horrible and the teams in the west pretty much have no desire to actually be great in FB, they have a desire to basically make a bowl game every other year and roll around in TV money.
They recruit like MAC teams, they have lame attendance and a lot of the schools are used as bait for real schools and now as farm teams.
In your lifetime have you ever seen Minny or PU or Illinois or NW or Wisconsin or Iowa actually be "good"
I don't mean having that "magical" 10 win season, because most of the wins came vs other West teams and then Indiana, MD and Rutgers, but I mean actually good. Where they were 9-0 and going on the road to play a west team and the line was NOT something like -6.
We'll be better than Wisconsin when they play one of the better teams in the east.Way to cherry pick stats. Thread is about B1G WEST. Also, not sure where you got your numbers, but here they are according to the NCAA...

Do you think we beat Wisco in Madison? I don’t, we probably get beat by double digits, hope I’m wrongWe'll be better than Wisconsin when they play one of the better teams in the east.
Ehhh, they had two seasons with only 1 loss over the last 25 years or so, the rest were all pretty much 3 losses on average. Bo did that and we hated it.Wisconsin until just recently has been very good. Lots of NFL players. The best defensive player in the NFL is from Wisconsin. Not everyone hated it!Ehhh, they had two seasons with only 1 loss over the last 25 years or so, the rest were all pretty much 3 losses on average. Bo did that and we hated it.
In fact over the last 20 years, they have averaged 3.5 losses per season.
I was referring to the scoring defense stats. I don't know if we can beat them or not.Do you think we beat Wisco in Madison? I don’t, we probably get beat by double digits, hope I’m wrong
A couple of reasons. Rhule wasn't going to throw players out there that didn't know the offense. He has stated as much. Putting in fast WR on a couple of plays per game wouldn't be a surprise at all. It would be like lining Derrick Henry up in the wildcat, everyone know he is getting the ball the only difference is Nebraska QBs needs a tail wind to get the ball downfield enough to take advantageThey could have been doing that all season. No reason to not put speed on the field and take a few shots a game when you suck as bad as we do. What can it possibly hurt?
I think we may be would have won a lot of games the last few years in most other conferences.
Except Coleman has been on the field over the last 4 or 5 games. Most Nebraska fans just want the best athletes to play....I really don't care if it is a freshman or a senior. The bottom line is that those types of plays take very little knowledge of the offense and can sting a defense and change the momentum of the game in a heartbeat.A couple of reasons. Secondly, if Nebraska throws out two freshman WR at the start of the season, all the know it alls in this fan base would be screaming that Rhule isn't trying to win, he is playing for the future. That he is tanking to get "his players" experience and all the other BS that comes along with playing players that aren't ready to play. With the Big Ten West down, more would be screaming that this division is winnable if he would have just tried to win.
Last win over an out-of-conference Power 5 opponent was 7 years ago. And counting.I think we may be would have won a lot of games the last few years in most other conferences.

The cradle of Quarterbacks does reside in the big ten west though. Tanner Lee was a 6th round pick. Not 4th.In the last 10 years, B1G west has produced 4 QBs who were drafted
Highest went in the 4th round
2 were 7th rounders from northwestern and the 4th was Tanner Lee who many believe was the worst QB in Nebraska history
Least talented division in cfb
Or the Big 12 minus Oklahoma and Texas.I agree. We would have looked pretty good in the AAC, Mountain West, CUSA, MAC or Sun Belt
I don't think "most" Nebraska fans just want the best athletes to play. If that were the case, we'd start players from the basketball and track teams. We want the best PLAYERS to play, and I don't think Rhule disagrees. Coleman was not one of the best WRs at the start of the season because of inexperience and the fact that he's only 18 years old. Now with the players hurt and more experience for him, he is. Pretty simple.Except Coleman has been on the field over the last 4 or 5 games. Should be run multiple times a game. Not just the play action but the quick 3 step fades. The concept of "complex offense" is the only kind of successful offense has been debunked over and over. If it's to difficult for your best athletes to learn and run...Then stop making it so difficult. It's always about Jimmies and Joes. We've done a ****** job of recognizing that over the last 20 years.

It is. I totally misread that. Haha whoopsreading if fundamental
This is what we should all want
It’s a blood bath every single week. No days offShows just how deep and competitive the B1G west is.
semantics on the players/athletes comment. You know what I mean. Coleman is not on the 90's Huskers squads. He was sitting behind marginal players who were not producing, that's different then LP sitting behind Benning and Childs. And QB and a WR two vastly different knowledge bases. Again not comparable.I don't think "most" Nebraska fans just want the best athletes to play. If that were the case, we'd start players from the basketball and track teams. TO didn't start Frazier until like game 7 of his freshman year. LP and Gill didn't get a start until they were sophomores. Rimmington not until his 3rd year. Coleman is a great athlete and he could become one of the best WRs in the country, but he's not Marvin Harrison from last year, at least not yet.

Coleman and any one else who can make plays should have been playing early in a hand full of packages. I've coached for a long time. You don't sit talent because they haven't mastered the playbook. Coach em up, tailer your game plan, design elements within your base packages to get the ball to guys who can make plays, find mismatches. Pretty simple!
I’m going with its great we have the fast kids and the fact they have to play now when they are prepared to do so is the best outcome given the circumstances. Those kids are fast enough that a missed tackle in space could mean 6.A couple of reasons. Rhule wasn't going to throw players out there that didn't know the offense. He has stated as much. I don't have a problem with how the young wide receivers were handled. I think all or most of them had minor injuries during fall camp and all had certain plays designed to get them or try and get them the ball. For instance Lloyd's carry in the first game.semantics on the players/athletes comment. You know what I mean. Coleman is not on the 90's Huskers squads.
