Choose my words....... you just remember this conversation if the powers that be bungled their fiduciary duties and the University winds up on the hook for big dollars because the Athletic Department can't generate enough cash flow to service/ extinguish the debt.
Populous designs stadiums and assists in planning their construction and estimating cost It has little to no input in how it's paid for.
Don't know about the intramural conflicts that exist at Penn State. But the University CFO, not Kraft or his financial guy, presented the numbers for the project. I see no political excuse for a proper analysis not to be done here.
The entire presentation - and the cradle to grave of the whole process - was fantastical. I am abundantly on the record with the many ways it was so.
The folks who approved the project were, at best, operating in the dark/with incomplete and misleading information. That is the best case scenario. Whether that was "despite their best efforts", or by design? Who knows?
Much more could (and has) been said, but it is what it is.
All the typical fan cares about, if anything - and, frankly, could be expected to care about - is "do I have a shiny new thing to look at".
Other folks have a responsibility to care about the "other stuff".
