Interesting you mention coaching. This morning, I read in our Herald News a Shaw Media article from Hub Arkush. In the article he points out, through close resources, George McCaskey has been directing things from the top. From the decision to start and play Fields Fields, to the things Nagy has said only to backtrack a day or two later. I believe it. Now some of Nagy's actions seem to suggest he was getting orders.
The article goes on not to say Nagy should be kept or defend him. It does, however, point out the fact the Bears ownership have, again, set yet another coach up to fail. Try to get ahold of that article if you can because it's excellent.
The weird thing this is this. I have close friend who suggested this about six weeks or so ago. Again, the failures always go back to ownership regardless of who plays or coaches and whoever the GM is.
What this does, to me, is to call into question everything Nagy has done...even the play calling. Think about it. COULD it be true? Absolutely, I think knowing the McCaskeys.
And why do you think George McCaskey wanted Fields to play? This is my theory. I think McCaskey wanted Fields playing because he felt, even if the Bears were losing, more people would come to see Fields play than Dalton. He didn't want Fields to play because he gave the Bears a better chance to win. But because Fields would put more asses in the seats. I believe that 100%.
Always remember, the McCaskeys are all about attendance. Even over success. Years ago Mike McCaskey said, in a moment when he swerved into the truth, "the goal is to be competitive every year." He never said the goal was to win a championship. That's all anyone needs to know. Happy Thanksgiving, my friend!
