Why is a win in January & February less fun than in March? The only difference is a win allows one more game in March. I enjoy a win in November as much as I do in March. A loss in Nov Dec, Jan, and Feb is much different than it is in March. That is why March wins are more important. I'd had to have a shvt regular system and then have a run in March. I want and enjoy ALL wins. To hell with only March Madness being important.

This isn’t about you, I clearly said this is how I feel.. 🤣🤣🤣

I couldn’t care less what you enjoy or don’t enjoy…

Mine isn’t just tournament success. Sweet 16 on I think is good. I’m tired of:

-Double digit loss seasons.
-Not being a 1-3 seed in the tournament.
-Not competing for the SEC title in the regular season.
-Having our fans pack Bridgestone only to be bounced before Saturday in the SEC tournament.
- I’m also tired of just having games where we get dominated start to finish like Gonzaga, Alabama, Ohio State and Michigan State last two years.

A 24-7 or 25-6 season where we make the 2nd weekend and are legitimate contenders in both SEC title races is what I want. It’s been too long dating back to the end of Cal and Pope.

Personally, I’m not a tourney or bust guy. I like SEC regular season championships. I like SECT championships. We haven’t sniffed either with Pope.

I joked about a scenario where UK is an 11 seed in one of the first four games, and Pope makes the final four but the team doesn’t score the first ten minutes and losses the game by 40. That’d be the most Pope run ever.

My point is, if you can’t win the SEC how TF can you expect to win the NCAA?

No more double digit loss season and an elite eight. If either of those are not done then we should make a change. Hopefully J Batt is putting out feelers already just in case. If he isn't then he needs to be gone too.

You can have realistic expectations for a team without lowering your standards for what you want for the program.
But the question is what results will make you happy or content. If you're happy or content with E8s, that's the standard you are setting.

For this year's team. You make it sound like the standard will just keep getting lower. Next year will be judged by the makeup of that team with the hope that they can win it all. It's not complicated, you're just being intentionally obtuse.

Agree. I’ve always been a “get me to the elite 8 and let’s see what happens guy” Of course I want to win championships and love when we do but a championship or bust standard is ludicrous.

Note: There are exceptions to my elite 8 deal. 2010 and 2015 are a couple of examples.

But it does keep getting lowered when fans become happy or content with an E8. You're saying we are okay with that. That's who we are now. UK 20 years ago would have never been okay with E8s.

With Noah hurt I think the best case scenario is just making the tournament as an 12th seed. I'm a huge critic of Pope and didn't like the injury excuse the past two seasons but if Noah is out an extended period of time I think you'd have to give Pope another year.

Agreed 100%. Noah being hurt means the team likely doesn't break .500.

It's also funny how Pope explicitly acknowledged the massive hole at the 4 position and tried to get Mark Mitchell to play all those minutes. And now Pope, in what should be his make-or-break season, is just going to go into the season with the two players he hardly wanted to touch the court, and everybody is supposed to say, "I love this roster. They won't contend, but they'll be 'really good.'"

You’re conflating expectations for a specific team with expectations for the program. You keep trying to put words and intent in my posts that are not there. I bet you catch a **** ton of objections in court lol.

The standard has already been lowered year by year. That's why we're in this situation.
Bro two weeks ago when people thought we were going to get Mitchell everyone was talking nattys and final fours so no, your point does not stand.

That is now the expectation of the program though. You seem to not want to understand that. If you read the thread, you'll notice others are seeing and saying the same. That should tell you all you need to know.

Not really. The ones that do occur are typically easily defeated using rules and case law

Let’s go guys. If we don’t repeat this in every thread our standards are DONE!!
That really should be the standard. Or at least Final 4, SEC Championships and tournaments.

When you have 38 E8s already you don't settle for that and be okay with it.

And none of that has anything to do with lowering the standard. For the first time, people had hopes that the CEILING of this team was a Final Four with Mitchell, but that doesn't change the minimum expectations of the fan base for a coach not to be fired.

Mitchell wasn't the "15th player." He would have been the best player on the team. Yes, adding the best player on your team in the 15th roster spot would dramatically change the roster.

Friendly reminder that strawmanning isn't an argument. It just makes you look like you can't properly comprehend arguments.

It wasn’t a strawman argument or an argument at all but an example of how ridiculous some of you are. There is no lowering of standards.

A poll from twenty years ago wouldn’t look any different than it does today. Maybe a little worse.

We havent had any real success in 8 yesrs - fan base is starved. EE and top 2 SEC thats acceptable right now . 16 and top 4 sec I will want Pope gone but he will stay . Less than that hopefully Batt has a big enough pair to fire him

Sweet sixteen and fourth sec and I say we’ve given him his chance and move on. However, that would more than likely be the nightmare scenario.

The expectation for this specific season is not the same as the expectation for the program in general. If you can't wrap your head around that it's on you.
