Sorry, seems like you just don't understand. No one is happy if all we ever get to in Elite 8 but if we were to get to Elite 8 this year I would say that is the minimum people would be satisfied with for this year. I didn't take the OP's post as a question for all time moving ahead, just this season for Pope and crew. That's my final attempt to explain this to you.

He’s simply the dumbest person to ever be on here or he’s being a dumbass on purpose. Either way, he’s so far removed from how smart he thinks he is, it’s embarrassing for him. He just doesn’t realize it.

What does everyone think our results would have been the last two years if we had hired Bruce Pearl? I'm not saying I know the answer to this question and I'm not saying that it was even possible, but I think (for me at least) it puts to test the theory that all our recent struggles can be pinned to the current era of NIL, etc... Because I think Pearl would have killed it here with access to our resources. If this is it for Pope we need to be looking for the "Pearl" types next. Guys who are ferocious, even difficult pain-in-the-*** strivers who would walk 100 miles over broken glass to get the keys to what this program offers in the right hands. If we're making this decision next spring it will likely decide if we return to past form or slide into a malaise similar to (god forbid) IU.

But you're saying UKs standard is currently E8. That's it. Future and past are irrelevant.

An E8 shows progress and it likely means we we're a top 15ish team on the year. No one wants that as our ceiling, but its progress.
