Only ourselves to blame
As late as the mid nineties our undergrad was way ahead of PSU
Then we dropped standards to get bodies and this is the result

Soo the dude insults the academic institution in the state he's going to get paid the play in? Good thing the football worked out. What a dope. Giants better tell him to shut up and play.

Giant fan who hopes Barkley is the new Jimmy Brown. He's a fine young man and I hope he excels for the Jints. Lord knows we need it.
I'm telling ya Skillet I just don't like the pick. It's just too high for a RB. I said the same about Apple and Mama Lavar. psu running backs for some strange reason rarely pan out. If he does he'll be breaking a trend.

As to the academics aspect, like @madchuck said he damn well knows his decision had nothing at all to do with academics. He's just spinning some real bullsh*t here.

Funny I read somewhere after he committed he grew up an RU fan and whose family were from NYC moved out of NYC for the kids sake with or without the dad and dad followed ?? It took PSU a long time to figure out what we knew and offered first....kids have zero sense of real loyalty today !?!

Shouldn't have brought academics into it. It had nothing to do with that and he knows it. Just say they have a better football program and Rutgers had Flood and move on. That's the reason. Stop trying to act like you went there to get an education. It's not like he graduated.
I'm all in on Ash, but how many recruits has Ash beat out Franklin?
And same for Schiano? How many recruits chose RU over Penn State?

It's a long shot, but it would be poetic justice on so many levels if Robert Martin moved past Barkley on the RB depth chart.

Cut the guy some slack, he did score an 18 on his Wonderlic test after all. Frankly, he’s doing the best he can with what he’s got.

Not that blame anyone for ditching Flood but that was a douche comment.

Also, it's harder to get to RU and RU is ranked higher in quite a many publications.

The thing is, he could've torn Flood to shreds and if anything, would've GAINED support among RU alums. Attacking the school's academic rep though was a big mistake.

That's my thought. I don't think UMD even recruited him and bringing them into it just made him look even worse.

I feel the same exact way about that situation. Good example.
There’s a bit of a difference. One person did absolutely nothing for Rutgers. The other gave RUFB some of its most successful years before bolting. Insignificant, I know, but just a tiny little difference.

I think Penn State is ranked higher than RU, but anybody who’s met a substantial number of PSU grads know that they are basically doing the same things as RU grads. We’re not talking RU vs Northwestern here. So stupid comment by Saquan, but clearly he bought into the hype.
I have seen that in one or two rankings where they are ahead of us (but not all) but having visited there and knowing some kids from our high school who went it does not get the best and brightest. Sure they have some bright engineering students, but even kids from PA i know who are your typical B+/A- honors class types do not have it as a first choice (Pitt seems to be the more desirable destination these days). The one thing they do well in Happy Valley is recruitment. Kids who did well in school don't seem to have a problem getting a job. RU just needs to figure out how to play this rankings game a bit better and there is no reason it should finish behind Ped State.

Looks like the first legit test for the new mods in how quick they purge trolls.

You guys realize that for athletes the academics is not about the school rankings or acceptance rates or the stuff is normal people look at when evaluating schools.

It’s mostly about academic support, graduation rates for athletes, and alumni networks.

Looking at it through the shoes of an athlete you’ll find that PSU is far ahead of RU in this respect.

"The shoes of an athlete .." That's where Saquon's brains are apparently.
