There he is! Right on cue. Tell us how we will lose 13 games next year like you do every year.
I hate to be that guy but it’s looking more and more every day that Sarr isn’t getting eligible so 13 may not be far off

So they probably land Baldwin also. That's Banchero, Baldwin, Coleman, and Brakefield at PF. Look for at least Brakefield to opt out. If BHH goes elsewhere and we only have Ware next season at the 4 Cal will be in scramble mode again and we may see another big man reclass.

Cade, Paolo, Zion, Barrett, Reddish, Wiggins, Jaylen Brown, Bagler, Carter, Chandler. I can keep going if you want.
what, Cal and UK does not get every single, mother effing player they want?

Damn, we are so lucky, to still end up with top recruiting classes every year..

UK will return everyone except Boston and Clarke*. Banchero knows this. We’re all good!

Nike is killing Cal & UK on the recruiting trail. It's probably retaliation for Cal stiffing Phil Knight and Nike in the Nike 80 tournament. Things have kinda gone south since we, as a major Nike school decided not to play in Uncle Phil's tournament.

100% he reclasses now! Which is good, because if he does, fat chance he plays CBB for Duke.

Aside from the obvious, I’m sure the, “the officials will target you at UK” card is one K goes to a lot!

Since he was the one to create it!

Cade, Paolo, Zion, Barrett, Reddish, Wiggins, Jaylen Brown, Bagler, Carter, Chandler. I can keep going if you want.

Different stories behind each guy:

Wiggins for the Adidas Signing Bonus and All Star Circuit ended the likelihood of UK with him not connecting with UK signees. $2.5M signing bonus from Adidas is hard to pass up.

Cade would've been Kentucky but we all know the brother at Oklahoma State angle.

Zion was not going to UK and at no point did Cats ever "lose him". Only thing you could link to Kentucky would be his comments he'd end up where Immanuel Quickley went, but never had any UK buzz/feel around it aside from those comments made during an Italy trip of Adidas players. Kids say things like that all the time--and look at Chandler/Banchero as proof how often it happens. Now you want to notice the common theme in breaking up the package deal, that seems obvious. lol

RJ Barrett was one I had several members here get upset when I reported he would not be a Cat and had eliminated him shortly after his official visit. Got word from friend and it was best for both parties. People really got angry about that, but like I said, if I hear something, I pass it on and that was 100% true. He was a Duke lean.

Cam Reddish and Wendell Carter were never considering anything but a Duke leans.

Kennedy Chandler was recruited by UK more for his connection with Paolo Banchero. They land Sallis, it's an upgrade and win for UK. I think Sallis is a better '21 guard prospect. Chandler is a fine player, but this isn't one I'd place as a huge L. Unless.......

You choose to connect it to Paolo Banchero's decision today. Again, I never had a great feel for this recruitment and didn't hear much about it. I know that I never felt Tennessee was leading and felt UK was in better position at this time a year ago then now, but him selecting Duke stings for certain because there's not a lot of talented bigs out there. Duke is likely landing Patrick Baldwin Jr in addition to AJ Griffin so the #1 class is pretty well locked up for them in '21. If Baldwin Jr didn't select Duke it would be stunning to me.

Jaylen Brown was directed to Cal by Shareef Abdur Rahim--who also attended Wheeler HS in Marietta, GA and went to Cal. He was an Agent at the time and this was how they got him to go there instead of UK-which proved to be a big blow as he was missing piece on that '16 team, the '15 class.

Bagley Jr wasn't going to be a Cat--a lot of ties to Durham family wise and it was more of an Arizona/Duke battle with Nike wanting him eligible--once he left Ayton's school it was obvious he wasn't going to end up at Arizona.

UK took an L today, but this one doesn't hurt as badly as knowing you had Wiseman, Cunningham locked up only for circumstances to change late in the recruitment (Penny/Brother). Or guys like Dante/Cisse being directed elsewhere without them having any say in the matter.

Tell us your thoughts on 21

As far as season/team or recruiting? Recruiting wise, a lot is up in the air right now and quiet--by design. I'm not as down about this as others, I think Banchero is one of the best players in '21 and great get for Duke, but never felt like a lock or someone who was about to commit to UK. Think Payne leaving as a development guy hurts as much as him as a recruiter--but this was Barbee's guy.

If I'm UK my focus is on doing whatever it takes to try and land Sallis/Hardy, and add them to Bryce Hopkins who should be committing soon. From there, you can assess what happens in regards to frontcourt, be it new recruiting targets, reclass guys from '22, or immediate transfers. I expect Jackson/Ware to be back in '22 as well, but Jackson is type who can accelerate his development to point that may be something that changes.

I'm all in on making Hardy/Sallis 1A/1B for this class and I know about Skyy Clark but as I've repeated, I like Sallis more then him or Kennedy Chandler or just about any guard prospect not named Jaden Hardy as '21 option.

I never really expected to land Banchero, as I have stated before. I thought he would stay in Washington, though. So I am no prophet, for sure.

Hopkins is our main frontcourt target now.

If we get Lucas on staff, we probably go after Collins (5-star 6’9 Big). I think Lucas is connected to him.

I am hoping we get Jackson and/or Ware back along with Toppin and Fletcher. Add Hopkins and/or Collins to the mix and we should have a strong frontcourt in 21-22.

Also a chance Huntley-Hatfield reclasses and comes on board.

The backcourt is what really has to be replenished with Clarke and Boston being OAD, Mintz running out of eligibility, and Askew potentially being OAD.

Hardy is the most important recruit, IMHO, with Sallis a close second.

It’s fairly well documented that once K watched steward in person, he layed off of Boston in favor of steward.

I call BS. Good possibility that Duke backed off after It became apparent that he was coming to UK. K and his staff aren’t dumb enough to want Steward over Boston. Spin it however you like, but Cal beat K for Boston.

I know there will be a lot of denying going on here. However, the timing of this announcement suggests to me that it was a big loss to have Payne leave.
Within a week of Payne leaving we have Chandler and Banchero commit elsewhere.

there it is! yes sir cut off 2010-2015 to fill your agenda!
I’m so sick of this excuse. What he did his first five years means jack if his last 6 have all been worse. Tubbys title in year one didn’t mean **** when he was sucking in year 8-9.

So we beat them for Boston, Knox and Clarke (and some guys outside the top 10).

They beat us for Carey, Banchero, Barrett, Zion, Bolden, Reddish, Johnson, Tatum, Giles, Carter, Ingram, Bagley, etc.

No way to spin it; K has recently owned Cal.

Let's call a spade a spade. Big land for Duke if the kid plays cbb. Pablo imo is the best recruit in his class. Add him with Griffin, a potential of Bradley you have a trio of dominant players plus the likely hood of alot of players from this year's team returning.

Duke is in a good position right now.

But there are alot of wings and forwards out there. Cal will make something happen. And with the timing of this commitment it allows UK to move to it's next option quickly.

Boston.

Don’t believe the “K didn’t really want him” BS that Duke fans will feed you.
As a Duke fan we backed off of him because he probably told us that he was leaning to y’all.K does not own Calipari nor does Calipari own K.Both are at the top of the food chain as far as recruiting goes.If they get information that one of their targets is leaning toward the other they simply shift their efforts to the next guy at that position

I like how you deflectors always swear by the character of these kids right up until the moment they commit to Duke. Then the same players you were vouching for are now accused of lacking integrity in their circles.

It's unfair to the kids and their families. Some of you are clowns.
