I disagree, Diallo didn't matter near as much as Bamba. Needed a rim protector. Gonna have to hope Richards is better than expected...

Diallo's importance now is bc we don't have that rim protector and need someone in the backcourt that can stay with their man defensively. Diallo's defensive impact is what is required.

I am happy for him. After reading his article, it helped me really understand why he'd want to go to UT, and I really think he made the right choice for him. We have Nick Richards and a now-confident SKJ at center, we will be fine!

I just don't see why he'd do this.

We are on track for the Final Four next year. Texas won't make it out of the first round of the tournament.

Because many elite recruits today don't give two sh**s about college basketball? It's a place for him to hide out for a year and then be a top 5 pick

Said I would be shocked if he chose UK and I was. I certainly didn't belittle or insult people who thought otherwise like the "Bamba is coming to UK" people.

I don't think anyone actually believed those people knew what they were talking about. Throw them on ignore.

Regardless, gloating in a thread where we *lost* a recruit is a bad look.

Texas arguably has less talent this year than last, and Bamba won't produce as much as Allen.... I guarantee it. What a dumb decison, but I'm glad he didn't come here as he clearly doesn't want to work hard.

I'm not gloating at all. I'm disappointed as hell about Bamba.

Diasgree. They have the #3 recruiting class now as well as Andrew Jones likely to return. Mack leaving hurts but they will be much better than last year.

I wish him nothing but the best. At least he made his decision, now we don't have to wait. Still feeling good about next year team, the 5 spot might go to Nick. I think Cal starts PJ at 5 with Gabriel playing 4. Vanderbilt at 3.

This board is going to melt down when Diallo stays in the draft
Looks to me like this is a pretty muted reaction, so far at least (3 pages in). Since by now most people think Diallo is staying in the draft, I think the reaction will likewise not be outrageous. In the main, I mean - sure, there will be a handful of people who are determined to overreact and moan, so they will.

I really didn't think he was coming to UK - just like in an individual game, the longer the underdog stays in the game, the more change it has to win. So here. When he didn't commit to UK at some point Texas naturally became a favorite.....

How many schools can say they missed out on a number 2 player in the nation, but yet have 4 five-star front court players coming in on top of Wenyen and Sacha returning?

Losing Bamba doesn't leave us vulnerable down low, it just prevents us from being a scary good shot blocking team.

Now, either Diallo comes back or Cam Johnson comes in and we have all the pieces for a great team next year. Bamba would've made them #1, but we're still top 10 level to start he year.

lol, I'm not happy for him...He is the difference in a #1 ranked team to now without Diallo or Cam maybe top 7-8..Hope this lights a fire under SKJ and Richards

Cautiously optimistic about what we can get from soph SKJ. He has the potential to be as good as anybody in the country - just gotta see if he can shake whatever issues kept him on the bench last year.

But my question is.. how can such a smart kid make such a dumb decision?

What if he is the next Skal and is too soft. We all are sad now but this could be a blessing in disguise. Or he could be the next AD and we regret not having him. My thought is this, he played with and against Richards and maybe he thought Richards is too good and he didn't want to compete for the minutes. Kind of gives us insight on how good our bigs actually are if he didn't want to come here. He, himself, believed he wouldn't be good enough.

SKJ and/or Richards better exceed expectations know.

SKJ said don't sleep on him - well, here's your chance. Better back it up!

Of the 2 Knox was the much bigger get for our situation than Bamba. Doesn't mean I wouldn't have liked to have had him but we will be ok. Would like to add Johnson though as Diallo imo is also gonzo
