Anyone see the end of the NW game. Glad NW won. Worst I’ve ever seen. Refs tried their best for MSU. I don’t care about either team but this got my blood boiling
Thanks for confirming. I agree with you. Refereeing is hard that that game ending was a disgraceFor the most part I don't have an issue with reffing. I think fans generally make more of it than we should.. but the end of the NW/MSU was a disgrace. 3 very borderline/shaky calls in a row. Hopefully there's a review on Tuesday.
eh, they are lucky they didn't get a 4th with :00.4For the most part I don't have an issue with reffing. I think fans generally make more of it than we should.. but the end of the NW/MSU was a disgrace. 3 very borderline/shaky calls in a row. Hopefully there's a review on Tuesday.
I agree on NW was getting hosed at the end.Anyone see the end of the NW game. Glad NW won. Worst I’ve ever seen. Refs tried their best for MSU. I don’t care about either team but this got my blood boiling
yes, i did notice that...My big issue with under a minute left, Terps in bound and bring the ball over half court. Only then did the clock start. Should have had at least 2 or 3 seconds off the clock. Who knows if the game was closer those seconds could have cost the game
I work HS basketball scoreboard games and let me tell you………the parents notice and would be very loud about ityes, i did notice that...
That’s been going on forever, often against RU, cause we were (are) often the underdog. But this game seemed awfully egregiousThere is a tendency for referees to give favorable calls to the home team and those highly rated.
I thought NW got away with a lot the whole second half. Maybe the refs had NW to beat the spread but MSU to win.Anyone see the end of the NW game. Glad NW won. Worst I’ve ever seen. Refs tried their best for MSU. I don’t care about either team but this got my blood boiling
I was shocked that he finally got vocal on a call in the second half.. he needs to do that.. especially when he is correct.Whether or not you agree with the premise, I’d like to see Pike more vocal and animated on the sidelines.
I don’t think Russell touched the ball yetMy big issue with under a minute left, Terps in bound and bring the ball over half court. Only then did the clock start. Should have had at least 2 or 3 seconds off the clock. Who knows if the game was closer those seconds could have cost the game
I actually didn’t think the calls were that bad with the exception of the charge on Mulcahy. When you don’t go inside with ball, you don’t get calls.Yes the turnovers were bad but the 13-0 ridiculous advantage in foul shot scoring was embarrassing by the refs. Just as big a factor as the turnovers. Anybody who thinks otherwise is merely sticking head in the sand. 2nd half refs were actually fair and a 22 point swing.
it was paul not caleb. offensive foul was awful.I was shocked that he finally got vocal on a call in the second half.. he needs to do that.. especially when he is correct.
- the elbow that missed hitting Miller's head.. he should have been in their faces about that. Did he see that? I don't know.. did anyone alert him to that.. I don't know.
- the call that got him animated.. offensive foul on Caleb.. a turnover.. CLEARLY the same MD defender.. Russell I think.. tried the same move over and over.. grab R guy's arm.. bring it toward his head and throw his head back... sure we got a review on that one.. to see if Caleb should be called for throwing an elbow at his head.. instead of seeing that the guy flopped.. doing a different kind of hook and hold.
He got mad on charge on Paul tooI was shocked that he finally got vocal on a call in the second half.. he needs to do that.. especially when he is correct.

no it was caleb.. but I know the charge you are talking about. the foul I am talking about was Caleb calling for the ball and the little guy running up to him and sticking his head on his arm then flopping as the ball came to Caleb.it was paul not caleb. offensive foul was awful.
The elbow to the face?? Geo fouled on goal tending call? Mulcahy walk call? Mulcahy was getting bodied pretty good? I thought calls were pretty bad.I actually didn’t think the calls were that bad with the exception of the charge on Mulcahy. When you don’t go inside with ball, you don’t get calls.
I think what he meant was that if you looked at the vast bulk of calls against Rutgers.. they were technically correct. The second half had the most questionable calls in that regard. The elbow to the face?? Geo fouled on goal tending call? Mulcahy walk call? Mulcahy was getting bodied pretty good? I thought calls were pretty bad.

EDIT: Oh wait... as you and mugrat said.. maybe THAT was when Pike finally got vocal. Got it.
The ref in question on the Caleb player-control foul was the tall bald ref. He was not watching the play but was following the ball.. he only saw the flop at the end, not how it happened. It probably did look to him like Caleb used his arm to brush the little guy off.... but it was still a bad call and another ref should have corrected it.. especially after looking at the replay (as I said they looked at it to see if it should have been a flagrant by Caleb.. they ruled NOT.. but shold have just revedrsed it to a flop by Russel).
Late in the game you can watch Russel follow Geo with the ball and pull his arm and throw his head back as if Geo elbowed him. He was also the guy who used two hands to grab Caleb's arm on a break-away-ish turnover and pull him down and was only called for a common foul.
. You NEVER admit when the refs affect the game. I find odd your utter refusal to admit that, sometimes, the officiating gives one team the advantage over the other.I didnt have a problem with the refs today...there was one really bad call in the 2nd half where they called Mulcahy for a charge
RU didnt draw any first half fouls because we were shooting almost everything from the perimeter,
didnt see an issue in the first half because RU was fouling trying to play catch up on D. They were flustered after missing on offense and MD was simply attacking and driving and getting the calls. Good strategy by them. We settled down in the 2nd half and I thought the way they officiated in that half was to our benefit since we were the ones playing tougher D getting into the lanes.
I believe Maryland rolled it and they never touched the ball until half court since we did not pressure. My big issue with under a minute left, Terps in bound and bring the ball over half court. The Terp dribbled the ball many times before crossing the line.I believe Maryland rolled it and they never touched the ball until half court since we did not pressure.

with that said. I agree with you on this matter about today (and I said it at half time when we were down big). Sure there were a few bad calls (the ridiculous charge on paul and the attempted purposeful elbow to miller’s face) but I didn’t see a plethora of bad calls against RU and I am sure Maryland fans could point to a few from their perspective.
the difference in the game was Rutgers. First half literally EVERY player (except Harper on offense) was playing HORRIBLY. Geo was absent. Paul a TO machine. Cliff dropped how many passes/ rebounds?
they completely turned it around in the second half
frankly if you attribute the difference in the halves to officiating then you’re simply not giving the team proper credit for their effort and execution in the 2nd half (and conversely not acknowledging how poorly we played in the first)
That's true but this was ridiculous. It was RU-St. Johns in the Big East Tournament bad. That's how bad it was. There is a tendency for referees to give favorable calls to the home team and those highly rated.
See there I disagree. Yea Myles had a tendency to foul early in his time here. But later in his time here there were a # of games where he was getting completely HOSED by the refs. The refs literally took him out of a few games.on refs, I just dont think by and large you can say we get screwed by refs, people fell back on that last year with Myles but he was almost always guility of stupid fouls so when there was a bad call which there always will be, it really mattered.
people like to point out the foul calls made on RU but not the ones that they didnt call that RU may have committed.
RU commits their most fouls when their shots are not falling...shu and first half of today.
That's a lieCaleb sent an elbow above his shoulders, that is going to be called.
