Despite getting a smaller slice of the pie isn't it still more then we were getting from Big East? If that's correct then how do we have less money for coaching then we did before. Am I missing something?

I believe slightly more.
What Rutgers needs or needed to do was ask the B!G for a bit more now and reduce the big payouts a bit later..smooth it out. an extra $5mil earlier vs. a big influx in 5 years (40 instead of 45). I would think they'd want RU to be investing more now then 5 more years of this mess.

Apparently Barachi is not investing one dime in the program .....so there will be few years to wait for a bigger share.
Total shortsightedness , Football drives the funding bus for all RUAthletics . Continuing getting by on the cheap with inept , awful Football Coaches and watch the Season ticket holder base ( and Priority Point$ Donor$) erode and support will dry up.

Even if we have money, that doesn't mean the administration is willing to spend it on the program.

I've posted the numbers before and I believe they're also in the Lesniak report now according to one poster here.

It was like 10-11.5M the first few years then to 15, 20, 25, 45 as the projected full share. So the first few years isn't that much more than our last year in the BE/AAC.

Last year (ending June 2014) the administration gave Athletics $26 million (not counting student fees) out of a total budget of $76 million.

yep, that look right...my point being see if you could make them 15 next few years and take 40 for a few. But as Spartan said..not even likely it would go to the Program. THAT's the issue.

Because our moronic administration fails to understand the old saying you have to spend money to make money.

I think we will spend all that money as it comes in and for the whole department not just football/basketball but of course those 2 will get the lion's share. You know even when we do get it, I've been saying that it's not some bottomless pot of gold which some here seem to think. It's not a panacea.

It's going to help a lot but it's not end all be all. We still need to be smart in how we allocate our resources and we still need to attract more donors. JH has increased the number of donors to a record number for the AD I believe but we need to continue on that trajectory. I've always said expanding the pool of donors is the key from disinterested alums, local non alums/businesses, etc..

You're being paid to lose... but the thing is very few of the people on this board realize that Rutgers and MD were added to the league to allow O$U and to a lesser extent.. PSU get 2 guaranteed wins every year. You are like Vanderbilt in the SEC.. or NW.. If the B1G had wanted to add universities in the mold of the rest of the league they would have added Va Tech, Va, Syracuse, or WVU. .. even Missouri. You weren't relevant with Schiano... the Big East was a joke of a conference... and being just bowl eligible there doesn't mean anything.

You are like PSU was in 1960.. but PSU found a legendary coach (who btw even at the end of his career made about 1.5 M a year.) Thing is ... who do you find as a Coach that takes you to the next level... without the university actually ponying up and spending money? It's not going to happen...
