Are you certain? I thought that was the logo for American Automotive Underwriters United?

So it’s now shorter, fatter, and the font sounds like the Bama coach name. They’re embracing the little brother persona.

the white part of the ua is now an upward pointing arrow. it also eliminated the white triangles between the a and u which im sure helped with printing and embroidery (read licensing) capabilities

The changes make sense, but seems like an awful lot of money spent on a minor change. I couldn't see a difference until someone told me what to look for. Imagine how many logos across campus have to be changed now...

It is so minor of a change....and the AU is so recognizable that most people will not even notice. They can fizzle out the old inventory and it will be a smooth transition.

Easier to print now without the tiny triangles and white area under the A serifs.

Wasn't one of the reasons we changed from the frilly ribbon M-State to the current logo that there were consistency issues when getting it printed or embroidered?

I think yall all missed the part where they also changed their font to "Sabon"

Also, they've updated their standard script font from Copperplate to, I **** you not, "Sabon".

I think it's an improvement. What percentage of people do you think would even notice that it's different if their attention wasn't called to it?

That big U always bothered me. It was disproportionate to the A.

LMAO are you from AL? I'm not sure how anyone that's not an Auburn fan would ever notice that?

I've always thought Auburn had crappy uniforms. I like their all white look though.

I noticed fans a butchering the new look but it is a better rendition of the old. Perfect circles (or curves) are aesthetically pleasing to the eye...the bottom of the "U" accomplishes this. That alone makes it a better looking version.

Exactly, my guess is getting rid of those white triangles was what started this whole thing. While it doesn't seem major it is a good change from a design perspective. Pre-computer graphics there were a lot of things that didn't matter that do now. Your logo has to be displayable in any size and the consistent curves and lack of odd white space areas makes it a better overall logo.

"Tradition, something you as a State fan wouldn't understand", is his go to answer for just about anything. The guy is a homer about things Auburn related.

I like it... it's fatter, but sleeker, stream lined, more aerodynamic, less cluttered, easier to print, proportionally correct, satisfies my OCD. Hell, I may now become an Auburn fan.

Now that you mention it, I do distinctly remember thinking for the longest time growing up that it was “University of Auburn” and not “Auburn University” (the correct name). I think the logo probably had something to do with it, as the dominant “U” made it seem like it came first in the name.

We should find an OSU Alum and ask what they think.

To me, the A looks pretty much identical to what they had, other than being a little more squashed. In the article on al.com, the A's in the sample Copperplate and Sabon fonts look totally different. The old logo must have been Copperplate San Serif Bold instead of what's shown, which must be Copperplate Gothic Bold.
