I don't get where people think Auburn has a bunch of super rich boosters. I am betting Nebraska has deeper pockets. Other than Northern Alabama and its Huntville area (space industry) Alabama is pretty poor. I just read where it is the fifth poorest state in the US. The company I worked for most of my life had an operation in Mobile and none of us from the western half of the country were clamoring to be transferred there. One of my co-workers did take a position in Mobile for a promotion and he came back raving how nice it was. I always thought if it was so nice why did he request a transfer back to the Northwest. There are some people here on this Board who live there. Maybe they can better inform me of the situation in Alabama.

I don't think it's about deep pockets, I think the perception is that Auburn has over-involved boosters and is very dysfunctional.

Jimbo's buyout is almost $90M.
If Jimbo's team ever gets caught swinging their helmets in a tunnel, Jimbo will be out of a job before the sun goes down. A&M would love to have a "Just Cause" moment to get out of that contract.

Auburn or Nebraska who has the crazier boosters. Honestly though would be an interesting spot for a few people I think Auburn fans have been spoiled by being in the championship game 2x in the bast 10 years and almost making it in 2017.

They don't have to be super rich boosters to be involved with and forcing decisions. Every school has boosters that donate to the program. If your school is reliant upon those cash infusions to keep the program relevant then regardless of how rich they are, they are needed and influential. Those people outside the university, be it the Board of Trustees, the boosters or a combination of both have been directly responsible for Bowden, Tuberville, Chizik and Malzahn leaving Auburn. Those people are why Nappier, Shane Beamer, and Venebles all turned the job down and went elsewhere, forcing them to go with Harsin.
