I understand his defense, but even that has not been that great.

Mag is better at this point. Especially shooting.

I dunno. Let’s give Mag and Hyatt more minutes.

Caleb not stepping up at all..
Lol never. Don't even consider it an option.

His DRtg last year was 95.4 when he was the B1G DPOY. His career low was 93.4 (lower is better).

He’s at 83.7 this year, which is a massive change, and his per 40 minute/100 possession defensive stats are roughly in line with last year. But tell us more about how his defense hasn’t been that good

Caleb has been a key cog in one of the great era's or Rutgers Basketball. That will continue until he move on from program.

It's on pike. Clearly didn't define his role on offense. At some point, pike needs to take care of this.

We need his defense. He's been trying to do too much on offense all year. Leads the team in turnovers.

McConnell looks two steps slower this season, maybe all the injuries have taken a toll?
McConnell and Mag starting limits the offense against talented teams.

Iowa won by scoring 90+ points. The defense was the problem. Benching your best defender will not make your defense better.

Is he really the best defender this year ? Awards and reputation don’t mean sh*t.

I don't think he should sit, but needs to limit his shots from outside if he's having a bad game. I love his drives to the basket. He's up again for DPOY. Plays his *** off and hats off to him.

Okay, then go by the other stats I put in there. Compare his DRtg to the rest of the team’s, which will give you an indication of his impact while on the floor (FYI, it’s the best of our regular players outside of our 5s). Go by the Temple game.

It’s wrong to say his defense hasn’t been that great

You said d rating again!

Don’t make me do it.

I am not going to opine about Caleb’s defense for 24 hours

Caleb’s biggest problem on offense is that he continually overestimates his abilities. He is not an efficient three point shooter, his passing is not an asset, he is continually stripped of the ball when he tries to post up. He is like the singles hitter in baseball who forgets that singles and doubles are his forte and tries to swing for the fences for his 12 home runs a year, and a .220 batting average.

I think he’s figuring this out. He’s only taken one three pointer over our last two games.

You are aware baseball and basketball are different sports right?

This is such a stupid thread. For the most part, we have 6 playable players and you guys are debating which of them should sit? Come one.

Everyone else plays when Pike has no choice. If Pike felt we could play Hyatt and Mag more together than he already does he most certainly would. It wouldn’t be at the expense of Caleb. It would be to rest Caleb, Cam, Paul and in certain situations even Cliff.

Caleb and Hyatt both had 4 fouls today. They both played as much as they could.
