Anybody got a bead on a good family lunch spot in the City Market area? By "family", I mean fairly informal, some good base menu options, but alcohol still available. Dinner suggestions welcome too, if different.
Some other great spots are popping up on Upper King St. as well. There are some tried and true places downtown that you can get your typical Lowcountry fare, but there a ton of new places opening that are really quality.
Everybody has some great suggestions, and here's a few other examples:
Oysters: Hank's, Pearlz or The Darling.
Beer: Craftsman
Upper scale: Hall's Chophouse (one of the owners went to State (Billy Hall)) - awesome bar (food) menu.
Shem Creek: Red's, Tavern & Table, or Shelter (stay away from RB's) - Best happy hour on shem creek is Water's Edge at the dockside bar only.
People are right, it's hard to go wrong. There's so much competition that they're either good or they go away. (Or they are a chain for tourists)
To answer your direct question: Walk to Husk.
Enjoy the city!
