Eh, I don't think that's fair. Ashton has not played very the last month or so, but I don't think this was done to draw maor attention to him. I believe Cal suspended him one game, but Cal always protects these kids so it was worded so it didn't seem that way.

My comment isn't coming from speculation, it comes from my friend who knows what is going on. He could care less if Hagans ever wears the uniform again based on the things he knows to be true.

It's not a suspension. He wouldn't have retweeted Cal if it was a suspension. Good to see that he may come back after some time off.
He was suspended but Cal will never say that publicly. First because he cares too much for these kids and their families to do that, and second, he doesn't want to portray Hagans as a poblem player for future reasons

This is UK. Not some D3 program. You don't like the fire get out of the kitchen, fans included
Not problem with “Fire”. My problem is with people with no basketball experience taking personal shots and players who chose to play at our university, we recruited to play here, and then we think we can act dumb with impunity.

I will bet $100. Take a commenter praising Quickley. Go back and look what they’re were saying in November and they wanted him out of town.

Same as commenters who now hate Hagans, were praising him in December and January when he averaged 6 assists and 1.5 turns per game.

fans are cool. People who try to compensate their own deficiencies by constantly picking one player to take shots at (Richards, Quickley, Sestina, Hagans have all been targets..) are not fans.

Again, I’m not talking about critiquing the game...that’s all fair...I’m talking about attacking the person...that is just ugly.

but it is a fan site. I get it. Just offering a voice to the alternative to the “burn em at the stake” group.

Well now we will get a chance to see our backup point guard and some of the other bench players play. Oh wait, I forgot he is holding those schollies for some other 5 stars for the 23-24 season. Darn. We only have 7 guys now. Heck.
You have a strange take on this event. Really it just doesnt make sense unless you are one of the constant Cal and one and done bashers. If so, I hope you will agree to self suspend for a while to take care of personal issues.

Like what? You can't just throw that out there with no details.

I have heard the same about his attitude AND his family being OVERLY involved in this whole situation.

It's sad that it took this ENTIRE season to come to a head. Hope he comes back focused and humble, if not, I don't see much changing. I HATE THIS!!!

As someone else pointed out: If he were taking time away from basketball--he wouldn't be tweeting and posting on instragram about basketball. Cal's giving him the cop out, but this wasn't Hagans decision.

Cawood regardless of what Hagans is going through we should 13 players on scholarship to avoid these kinds of problems. Then u can absorb Whitney quitting and Hagans being a baby.

This times 1000.

There’s no pride in being part of the BBN if you only appreciate kids when they‘re doing well and making you feel good. Otherwise when they are not they are trash, losers etc.
That applies to even great kids.

We have got to get back to a two way relationship with these kids. When they’re part of the BBN they are family simple as that and we support them no matter what.
We are supposed to show up and play our part and make a difference at Rupp as fans, we’ll that same principal applies here.

They do see and hear what is said here and it does make a difference in his they feel about themselves and the BBN. It’s time for us to get behind Ashton right now and show him we appreciate him and and support him and do our part as FANS.

We do that and we may sit back and watch one of the biggest feel good comebacks we’ve seen in a long time. He is a great kids but is struggling in a lot of ways. Let’s help him.

Why even post something like this when your not going to give any details? It just adds fuel to a fire.

When you know that 90% come here only for the KENTUCKY EFFECT and are here only long enough for a cup of coffee it is difficult to develop a relationship. Just a product of the times.

I can't believe anyone would dumb enough to say this in this situation . He doesn't need to put up shots ( I mean every player does sure ) but not when you are banged up . also shooting is not what we need or want from Hagans . I mean he is deadly at the foul line so that shows he can become a good shooter but it won't be this season. It will be a year or 2 down the road after he has spent 2-3 hours a day for 300 days a year for a year or 2 . Like many players in the league become good shooters. But we need him to run the sets , play his insane D , pass like he has ( as he leads the SEC in assists per game) BUT not turn it over as much. Shooting really doesn't come into it .
You’re looking to far into my response. Of course I know we need him for depth on familiarity reasons. It was said tongue in cheek with the frustrations of his inability to hit a jump shot.

Hope all goes well for Hagans. Hate to see things go south for a kid no matter what the reason.

But that's the thing; Cal isn't protecting him in this situation. If he's actually suspended, I would understand that. He probably deserves it. But as it stands now, it just looks like he's a quitter, and there are few things worse than that.

if Hagans is banged up and needs a break before the tourney, OK, fine

if he is getting a "break" because of attitude, well, he is hurting the team and he doesn't get a pass on this

Agree. If it is he needed his attitude adjusted and got suspended that seems a lot more understandable. If it is otherwise, simply a situation that really needs to be evaluated. It would have to be something devastating on a personal level.

Really takes away whatever momentum weve had. No chance Kentucky can do much with now TWO players leaving.

that what I was saying given the universal condemnation on Whitney

Whitney would be pretty happy if he was playing the lion share of minutes and allowed to have a bad assist to turnover ratio (or whatever stats that are ignored and just keeps getting playing time because the narrative is he was vital to the teams success)

I think it goes beyond Tuesday night. After the Tennessee game, I thought Ashton needed to sit to regroup physically and mentally. I wonder if Cal used reasoning like this to persuade Ashton to sit. Maybe a “soft suspension”?

The details of why DON'T MATTER, so ignore the "insiders" and the rumors they live off of. Don't feed em and they stop hanging around.

In the end it will go how it goes and there's nothong anyone can do about it but wait and see, EXCEPT you could support the team and not be all drama queen about the situation. This isn't a pro team. It's a college team with kids that are forced to go to college for a year at least in order to keep playing ball here in the US.

They're not getting paid, so they don't deserve the crap they take from fans. Me included. If they're on your team, support them. It's a mature thing to do.

What’s truly funny is, his teammates are behind him. And that’s all that matters. Richards had some nice comments after the game. So, if his brothers are behind him and some of you aren’t? Says more about you than him.

I like Hagans. And it’s obvious he’s hit a rough patch. He and Cal talked it out and they did what’s best for the team. So. Enough of the hate. It’s looking bad as a fan base. His team mates still love and support him. That says way more than a few grumpy fans.
