Cal never throws these kids to the wolves. Cal also knows he has to do this for the good of the team. Whatever the punishment was, it will never come from Cal because he truly cares about these kids and their families.
This was also a message to the team. No one player is above the team, no matter how important they are to the team. This had to be done, and hopefully it helps bring this team closer and more determined.

I personally think this is the best thing Ashton Hagans could do right now. He needs a break to regroup and get ready for the tournament. This will be a blessing in the long run. The mental part can be worse than the physical. When Ashton is 100% well, there is no one better at the point guard position.

Ashton Hagans is essential for this team in winning in the NCAAs. At the least, many will get to realize their wish that Hagans be relegated to the bench. I hope Maxey plays out of his mind. If he doesnt , I hope the Ashton haters will not turn on him too.

I would guess he was suspended as well. One game, then back. Seems pretty obvious. I would also say there has been some **** going on with him off the court, but it festered it’s way into game action (bench argument), and that’s where the foot has to come down. Cal won’t say it publicly, this is best way to handle it. This is my best guess. Seems pretty logical. I still support AH.

Hopefully he puts up 500-1000 shots per day and doesn’t leave the gym til he makes around 60% of them.

Falling back to training means what he should've been doing in offseason through now--not what he can do in a week to try and make up for not putting in work.

But he and family have gotten what they wanted-spotlight is all about Ashton Hagans regarding UK basketball. Pathetic.

I can't believe anyone would dumb enough to say this in this situation . He doesn't need to put up shots ( I mean every player does sure ) but not when you are banged up . also shooting is not what we need or want from Hagans . I mean he is deadly at the foul line so that shows he can become a good shooter but it won't be this season. It will be a year or 2 down the road after he has spent 2-3 hours a day for 300 days a year for a year or 2 . Like many players in the league become good shooters. But we need him to run the sets , play his insane D , pass like he has ( as he leads the SEC in assists per game) BUT not turn it over as much. Shooting really doesn't come into it .

Losing today means nothing to the SEC tournament for us obviously but losing 2 straight to end the season is going to drop us to a 4 seed for sure now. We will have to get to the SEC finals just to have shot to get back to a 3 seed. Lose in the SEC quarters and we might be a 5 seed. Win SEC quarters then lose in the semis likely a 4 seed. Win the SEC tournament and well we know we won't get credit for that crap I hate this being on Sunday.

It's not a suspension. He wouldn't have retweeted Cal if it was a suspension. Good to see that he may come back after some time off.

I hope it is a suspension and just Cal giving him cover.

We will probably never know.

They ( the hagans haters ) are a in win - win situation . If we win today they say " see we are better without him" and we lose today they say " see what that punk did to us " It is sad. Every year though UK LOD have to have a whipping boy. Poythress , Briscoe , Goodwin , and others have been it in the past. Wonder who will be it next season? LOD needs one like a plant needs sunlight and water.

Well now we will get a chance to see our backup point guard and some of the other bench players play. Oh wait, I forgot he is holding those schollies for some other 5 stars for the 23-24 season. Darn. We only have 7 guys now. Heck.

Do you know him personally? An old friend? I could accept the first five words, but when you said “great player”, you lost me.
Funny...I missed you asking if people who claim “he was suspended” “know him.”

No question or commentary about those comments...interesting

Eh, I don't think that's fair. Ashton has not played very the last month or so, but I don't think this was done to draw maor attention to him. I believe Cal suspended him one game, but Cal always protects these kids so it was worded so it didn't seem that way.

This little “break” is too little too late. It should have happened Tuesday when he wouldn’t go back in. Letting it go cost us that game. We’ll see if it costs us another today. I’m expecting it will. This will probably be our biggest loss of the season if I were guessing.

Why not? I would if I knew that I was in the wrong and to kind of smooth things over fanwise.

Yes, it's his fault Whitney left and Dontaie Allen had a car wreck and a knee injury before he ever got to school. Good grief.
