Well if he could pull a rabbit out of his *** this year, I would really appreciate that.Do people want him telling jokes? Maybe it’s magic tricks they want? Stop with charisma crap.
Do you really think someone who #1 has never met Ash and #2 has never been in the same room with him at a recruits home has any knowledge of his Charisma. By the way I am far from Star struck as you imply. During my professional career I have worked with pro athletes from the NY Giants, Pro coaches from the Ny Giants. I did a financial seminar for the NY Rangers. I have worked with TV and radio personalities so I think I may be a better judge on CA’s character and charisma then those who have never been in his company. Not telling you my background to impress you or any one else. Telling you because I feel I am a better judge than some who keep blaming his personality, charisma or whatever else you want to call it
post of the threadCool story bro. Are you looking for a job ? I didn’t know this was indeed.com.
I think the best judge of whether ash can recruit or can’t recruit are the results, right?
Last time someone posted a thread like this all the haters came out then Ash landed 2 of the top 5 recruits in this class and a good OL (Hanson) and oddly enough everyone suddenly shut up.
It's funny how he was considered a good recruiter at Wisconsin & Arkansas but RU fans create a narrative about his charisma because he's not meeting their delusional expectations of 4* & 5* in state kids committing in droves.
We've not been a good program the last few years. Things improved a little bit last year. Other than being "The Birthplace" what other history or cache does RU have that automatically makes recruits want to go there?
The job is not as easy as you think it is. If you don't know how fickle NJ recruits are now-a-days you've been in hiding. They want to say they played for a winner not help build one like Teel, Rice, the McCourtys and others did.
Ash's recruits are only now starting to hit the two-deep. The play of Clark, Fogg, Melton, Sitkowski and others will dictate our ability to recruit. They make positive progress this season & it possibly results in a surprise or two this cycle and better interest from the 2020 cycle.
There are still plenty of good recruits out there heavily considering RU. Ash will get some of them but the sky is not falling.

Go to the commitment list and see how he done from 2002 till he left.Schiano could sell Oil to the Texans....this guy is low energy.
imo
Can any of our "Superfans" identify the guys on the left and right of the photo?
Nail meet head.Schiano could sell Oil to the Texans....this guy is low energy.

Right on. Met them at the Queen's Island tailgate. Abro, Fire, and RU Princess round out the photo.Looks like Chas Dodd and JT Tartacoff

Although I have never met the man personally, the opinion I stated comes from someone who has met and had many interactions with him on a professional basis.Do you really think someone who #1 has never met Ash and #2 has never been in the same room with him at a recruits home has any knowledge of his Charisma. My bad. It's myself, Fire, and Princess.I'm not in the picture, I TOOK the picture, lol.
Don’t hold your breath on wise ever stepping foot on campus.Sitkowski, Lewis, Wise. Ash cannot be considered a poor recruiter with those gets at QB in back to back to back years.

And Lewis really showed nothing last year.

You are correct in saying the best way to judge Ash is by taking into consideration the results regarding recruiting ALONG with the results of on field performance. Hypothetical question. If last year we were 8 n 4 and we had a couple of 4 stars and 3 or 4 of the top 10 in state kids committed would we be having this conversation. Probably not. My point is many on here imply the only reason Ash can’t recruit is due to his personality. There is a ton of other factors that go into recruiting that some seem to disregard in their assessment
We all want RU to succeed but realistically, what can we offer? We've got a coach that is subpar on game day, struggles recruiting, doesn't sell the program well and is slow to make adjustments and always playing catch up to other coaches on gameday. While the facilities are great, we've got a solid core of rabid fans and the atmosphere can be electric, we simply lack the right man for the job.
So I ask again, what can we offer right now?
wise changed when Art was signed . It was in very subtle ways but I remember noticing it back then and wondered if it would impact his commitment. Why?
Schiano was a good recruiter at RU not the great recruiter some imagine him to be.Nail meet head.
I’d say best fullback/halfback combo in the country.Schiano was a good recruiter at RU not the great recruiter some imagine him to be.
Wise was reported to be attending the BBQ on campus today. It seems to me the change regarding Wise is probably related to the OC change from KIll to McNulty. He signed on when Kill was still onboard, it's unclear how his relationship with McNulty stands.wise changed when Art was signed . First off I said his recruiting was good not great...no where did I mention decent. Your looking at results in a lesser conference. I'm talking about the ranking of the players/classes coming out of high school. Many of his recruits out performed their ranking which speaks to his ability to identify talent and potential, The same is certainly possible with Ash recruits also.I’d say best fullback/halfback combo in the country.
Top 10 OL unit in the country.
Top 10 DL combo in the county Meekens, Foster, Westerman.
Top 5 safety in the country.
Best OT in the country....is decent recruiting
At least he was there today which is good news for all.Wise was reported to be attending the BBQ on campus today. I agree but I also believe it's premature to criticize Ash as a recruiter. First he may also have a knack for recruiting players that were underrated and most of his recruits wont begin to be counted on for major impacts until this coming season so we will begin to see and 2nd, until on field results are at least decent it is difficult for any coach to bring in the type of recruits we all want. I'm looking forward to at minimum decent (5-6 wins) results this seasonYou did say good.
And you are also correct about guys over performing.
As always, just making the point we won’t win many games until we have those kinds of players.
Before he got hurt, Grant was as good as you can be at returning kicks.

Check your hearing aids. And check your fandom too.I'm hearing he has about as much charisma as a piece of lint. If true, that could explain much of the problem. Can't leave it all up to the assistants.
But what will "fans" whine and complain about? We have all these threads about Ash and recruiting. I know it's the off-season and that any football talk is better than long threads about candy, for instance But it does seem to me, not being a football "expert," that it will be impossible to judge Ash's recruiting for another 2-3 years until we see how his recruits do and how well he can develop them. It is unrealistic to judge him on getting the very top NJ players because the greatest recruiter would not be able to attract the best to a program that has won 6 games in two years, thanks in large part to the damage done to the program by the prior coach. And such a standard is silly anyway, because even the best recruiter's team won't win unless the recruiter is also a prime developer of talent.
