Well, the guys who declared have until May 30, which isn't even the beginning of Summer. As for any other potential recruits (especially the guys considering reclassifying), yes they have all summer maybe even til January ... as they do every year, same for every other program in America. This is nothing new.

LOL that is almost against all odds. I mean did you even think before you typed? The chances all 3 of those guys actually stay in the draft is almost zero. Hell I think the chances 2 stay in the draft is less then 40 % . I believe Gabriel will most likely. Also the Green transfer thing is less and less likely each day. Hell if it isn't announced by Monday or tuesday there is almost no chance it happens as well.

NO the most likely scenario is a roster something like this - Green/Hagans/Quick/Herro/baker/Richards./JV/ EJ/KJ/PJ/ grad transfer big man .

If Cal was actually worried about all these guys staying in draft you know how bad he would be scrambling right now? LOL it would be crazy.

For the last time you have nothing to lose by entering the draft. I think Richards should have done so as well. When you will be in the NBA one day it is smart to do so. A large portion of the guys who have entered but not signed with an agent will be back. for example most of the SEC guys who have done this will be back IMO . The guard from UF , the guard from AU, Admiral for UT , Vanderbilt and so on.

It's one of the most ridiculous things Ive ever seen.
If it comes to fruition it is . But it won't . This is big time basketball now. We can argue whether it is good or not but we can't argue this is what it is . If you are talented and ever likely to play in the NBA you test the waters. IMO next season UK will have 9-10 players declare for the draft but only maybe 6-7 stay in it .

These guys don't want to hear logic. They only want their narrative filled. "the system is broken", "player X is using UK ". "Cal's lost his recruiting touch".. "Whys Cal recruiting over player X". It's funny.

I thought that the deadline for underclassmen to declare but still keep their college eligibility passed a couple weeks ago? Pretty sure @brianpoe posted that very rule.

It is pathetic and the program has turned into a train wreck

I hope y’all realize that declaring for the draft without hiring an agent means nothing. Until they say they won’t be back, assume they will be back.

Gabriel, Green, Richards, Washington, Vanderbilt, Baker, plus 4 new recruits. That’s 10 guys. The sky is not falling.

The real kicker is that thos team lost 11games and was not a title contender and still we lose several players.

Most kids that declare for the draft, stay in the draft. 95% of these guys are looking for 1 good reason to justify going pro. I mean how in the hell can a player, who can't stay healthy & averaged less than 6 points a game, even consider going pro. It's preposterous.

Less than half that declared last year stayed in the draft.

Green is clearly still on the team, but I think it is also clear he is still mulling his options.

We will know about PJ, Vanderbilt, & Gabriel by some time in late May.
Presumably Green would probably decide soon after finals week, if he returns there will likely not be any kind of announcement.
If we were to add a Grad-transfer, I would expect those to also happen by the end of May.
Any re-classifications can go into the summer (e.g. Bagley last year). So these are the only ones that may drag out into the summer.

Yes, we should trust Cal, but he is in a dangerous situation that he has created a system that players at UK go pro no matter what now. No other team has players that either barely played or averaged “average” numbers going pro. These kids are coming to UK thinking it is a guaranteed thing that you should be a pro ASAP and to me, the big issue is that Calipari is not managing expectations of these players. As they ARRIVE on campus already thinking they will be a pro in a year. It is like they have pre determined they are leaving and already a foot out the door. No team is dealing with players with such a weak resume even declaring without an agent. Sure, it is very smart to try to go to the combine, but wiht Vanderbilt, I am 100% convinced he didn’t want to play late in the season becasue another more serious injury would keep him from competiting in the combine or working out.

The best part of Calipari’s system is that it is the most honest in a very corrupt and abusive system that tries to take advantage of these kids. But his system has worked generally becasue it also benefits UK as much as the players. However, now, this is the first year, that so many players have really treated UK as a pure stopping point to the pros no matter what leaving the program exposed.

I don’t knwo what happened, but weaker players are leaving earlier in Cals system, when we have had several players that are even better come back after similar first year performances, Harrison Twins, Jones, Ulis, WCS, Dakari, etc. So far, UK fans have been 100% right on any player that has left early...it has been a struggle or an outright failure

The backcourt seems to be ok regardless... the front court has more questions that will determine just how good and how far this team might go.

Backcourt:

Ashton Hagans - widely expected to reclass
Tyler Herro
Immanuel Quickley
Jemarl Baker
Keldon Johnson

Questions: Will Quade stay/transfer and will Maxey join this class?

Frontcourt:

EJ Montgomery
Nick Richards

Questions: Will PJ, JV, and/or Wenyen remain in the draft. Does UK land a grad transfer big?

Would be interesting to see if Quade returns and Cal gets Maxey to reclass if he runs some 4 guard lineups out there next year utilizing Keldon at the 4. Could be similar to what KU did with primarily using one big guy this year.

The fact that we potentially have that many go or transfer is ridiculous in and of itself. If this way of practice goes another inch, and it will, it will lead to a place where that second title isn't coming.

To this extent, it is a Cal problem. I would clean it up, but I know he's not going to do anything. Just have to hope things remain stable and he somehow squeaks by and gets that second ring.

Yes JV, Pj, maybe even green will return. That's not the point.

The slope is slippery. Do some of you really want to go through this every single year? Not knowing who returns at all? Constant transfers and undraftable freshmen contemplating the NBA?

Why on earth would anyone defend that?
