It's taking hold as we speak. Folks are not watching. Expecting losses. Attendance will be next. Fanbase loses interest, program dies.

Never thought I would see it. Can't hardly believe how Cal is destroying the bluest of Blue Blood programs.

This fanbase deserves bettrr than what Cal is delivering. They have traveled all over the world. They have spent millions in support. Bought merchandise. Stood in line. Drove around in rain storms trying to find reception on the radio for a game ( I did that one myself).

He's killing it and doing it with an attitude and a smirk.

I'm definitely at the point where I'm really not all that bothered if they lose. I watched the game tonight rather than listening to the radio call. I'll probably go back to listening to the radio call again...that way I don't have to tie up time watching them.

The person with the greatest apathy towards the UK basketball program is being paid almost $9M a year for his apathy towards the success of this program.

Players first. Never forget.

What's amazing is preseason in the Bahamas to now. It isn't difficult to go back on this site with all the excitement of this season and the belief we were a final four team that would sustain maybe a loss or two. Cal didn't really coach in the Bahamas and somehow the team had an offensive flow, could hit shots, hit free throws, and defend. Yes, the competition was suspect but tell me how that team looked as compared to now? There may be multiple reasons for all that has occurred and certainly apathy is an aspect. It is hard to be excited about our team and coach after the past few seasons where a repeat of similar behavior has run its course.

The attendance issue is the one to watch. What do we do at home against elite competition? Does that help build confidence? Or do we drop a couple we shouldn’t and fans give up? Things are teetering on the ugly side right now. If cal can’t win with this team he’s not winning with a team of freshman. Not in this era

Honestly, I always thought I was the only one who was once so emotionally invested in UK MBB that an unexpected loss left me feeling disgusted and agitated. I'd go back and look at the box score several times just to see which players did what as far as statistics. These days, I kind of just glance at the score, review the box score, and then move on to other games. I don't even really give it a second thought too often because the anticipation has largely died.

Yep - that's the big worry for the program. The longer this goes on - and the apathy has been growing for at least 4-5 years now, the less people that will come back when the UK program changes course and starts to look something like what it used to. People's habits and interests change over time. This should have been dealt with in about 2018, but it wasn't and I'm pretty sure that UK will never again reach the prestige it once had. And the fanbase has shrunk by a lot.

Yeah I didnt go to bed mad , or wake up upset ... its kinda like " I'm not surprised by the result " We have a midget PG that was a Ga reject ... a transfer from So Ill. , a injury prone role player from Iowa , a guy who lives off his brother's performance , its a hot mess ... having said that those guys along with a future NBA star --Wallace , and the returning NPOY could piecemeal together a good solid year .. IF ... IF they were coached UP , not coached DOWN .. Cal has to be let go if Ky hoops is to regroup and become important again .. The nation lost interest / respect for Ky about 5 years ago .. now the state .. I mean BBN .. doesnt care . Its that bad

excellent post . The days of 2015 type excitement , support and unity will never be seen again .. even 2018 with Monk and Fox .. gone . I'm glad I was part of it , but likely it will never be that way again .. hope I'm wrong , maybe we find a way to ditch Cal , and hang on to the recruits ? Wake me I'm dreaming .

I decided to disassociate myself this year. I have hated this program led by Cal. Even the good years. He does not care about records or playing for the state or any of that. He never will. His goal was to come here and try to change us backward thinking Kentucky fans. We think this world is about KY basketball. Heck he told us to our faces it is not about Kentucky basketball but about those individual kids. It is about money for those families. Not about anything else. Just GO AWAY CAL!!!

I’ve been a Bengals fan since the late 80’s. It’s as if my Bengals fanhood and UK fanhood swapped places overnight. The feeling I experienced last night was similar to a random Sunday afternoon in 2010…Carson Palmer just threw his fourth pick into double coverage and you shrugged…because you had seen the movie 100 times before and knew exactly how it was going to end.

Thanks, Cal!

For some reason this morning an old saying just came to me .
“ there is no fool like an old fool “
I had a professor at UK once who taught the same course for forty years . His notes were yellow and torn . Some people just don’t change with the times .

I admit I watched very little of last nights game, would come back and check the score periodically but could not sit there and watch that hot mess. Bad offense, bad defense, poor combinations on the floor at times.

My little dude, my 8 year old who lives and dies with every game has pretty much punted on watching Kentucky basketball games at this point. He watched maybe 5 minutes of it with me last night. He said "we're just going to lose like we always do" and went upstairs to play Madden.

It’s hard to care anymore. It’s more than just losing imo. College basketball just doesn’t matter like it used to. The NIL, one and done fatigue, Cals constant shots to the fanbase. I just really don’t care anymore

I’m moving in less than 3 weeks. Got a lot to do and with UK sucking, I’m taking a break from this board for a while. Find myself logging on and spending too much screen time anyway. Just wanted to say that I’ll miss you guys. I’ve been a board member for nearly 15 years. Shared a lot of laughs. Just need a break.

All other schools when a coach starts failing like Cal gets rid of them but the AD at Ky keeps this coach, so sad that the use to be premier college BB school had gone down so much that we went from the pen house to the out house today.

You're damn right. I literally just found out we got manhandled last night. No clue we had a game and I have a damn calendar on my refrigerator.

I was talking to my brother yesterday, and he asked "what time is the game tonight?"

My reply was "we're scheduled to take an *** beating to at 7:00pm"

That pretty much sums it up for me...

I had completely forgot the game was even last night until I got a calendar alert on my phone about it. I tuned in for the first few real-time minutes and then it was just background noise until I switched over to wrestling at 8.

There was a time when I put a friendship since age 4 at risk by missing his sister's wedding because there was a Kentucky Basketball game and I had (not very good) tickets.

I didn't watch a second of last night's game. Checked Twitter around 8 for a halftime score and wasn't even surprised.

We're a low-middling SEC team with an NBA roster and reigning POY...what's happening??!!!
