Any SEC team(s) in E8?

Can Bama or TN make it? They seem to be the underdogs.

TX put a nice fight ( I think Miller was wrong to take the big guy out) and AK was overwhelmed.

IF no SEC team makes it to E8, we can say this has been a down year for our conference.

Seeing the best teams is difficult because it shows how far we are from being there. Not sure anyone from our team would have been a starter at Arizona or Michigan. Florida lost to a middle tier Big 10 school and our tournament champion was destroyed by the big 12 champ. SAD

Because the SEC was so good last year, a lot of people didn't really want to admit that the SEC was pretty weak this year. A lot of very average teams.
The SEC didn’t have many top 10 teams like it did last year, but it lacked any truly horrible teams and had a strong middle. Historically, and especially since Florida’s repeat, this was one of the strongest years top to bottom for the conference.

There were 10 teams in the top 50 of Kenpom this year. Ole Miss and LSU were around top 70. The worst two were borderline top 100. Pre Dedan injury, LSU was top 40. There were a lot of good teams in the conference but very few great teams.

Yeah, but we finished in the Top 9.

Ain't nobody can ever take that away from us!
Mark Progress trying to make more revenue for the SEC by having UK strategically play on Wednesday. Unfortunately, he forgot he needed to actually win on Friday to make the strategy viable.

Did Pope mention that under "progress"?
I would hope even Mark "The Dope" Progress is smart enough to realize 9 is a larger number than 6. So I hope not. But wouldn't put it past him.

PS -- there's a 69 joke in there for someone more clever than me to deliver.

What's that say about us? We finished 9th in conference. Big improvements needed.

I have UT beating Iowa State. Bama could beat Michigan but, Dusty May has some talent that could stop Bama as well. Toss up…

It was a strange year for the conference. Several teams showed flashes that they’d potentially have a run in them then would lose two or three games in a row.

I think Florida was the only hope of the SEC getting a team to the Final Four but they obviously flamed out.

Off topic but why does the ncaa stack these games on top of each other ? Could have easily started the first game at 245 and been able to watch all 4 consecutively

Second most teams in the Sweet 16 can never be considered a down year. We all knew the SEC wasn’t top heavy but the best all around conference. SEC teams overall have performed at or above their seed line. The Iowa upset of Florida is the only real exception and the main reason Big10 looks even better. Still the most well rounded conference and 2nd overall to the Big10 due to them having a better top 5.

It isnt the sec being weak. Its the big 10 being so strong. On the old football board, for the last two years I kept posting about how the big 10 is just going to dominate football for the foreseeable future because of insane nil advantages.

Now you're seeing it in basketball too. This is just how it will be more times than not until someone gets the equivalent of a salary cap. Big 10 just has endless money.

I say 0.

Conference was down this year. A lot of average and solid teams but nothing special. UK finished 9th but they won 2 games in the sec tourney so successful season according to Pope.

Definitely not a "down year".
For a conference or a team to base their success solely on the NCAA-T is a mistake. Why? Because it is a OAD tournament, and the better team does not always win in single games.

Outside of Florida we had a bunch of good not great teams and Floridas weakness was guard play which is huge in the tournament

Anything is possible for Alabama if they go nuts from 3, but Michigan and their abundance of strong frontcourt players is a really bad match up for them on paper.

I definitely wouldn’t have Tennessee favored, but they might have a chance. When Iowa State has lost this year, it’s usually been in a low scoring affair where they struggled on offense, which is the exact type of game Tennessee would like. I could see that one at least being close.

The big12 was prob the best conference anyway

Also...parity. in a single elimination things happen...its why theres never been four 1 seeds in the final four

Nah I'm good, brother
Not a brother, lol. You're taking this all way too seriously. The players and coaches don't care about you or any of us. It's just basketball. They'll move on, and pass on at some point.
