We haven't been bad in basketball, at least not as bad as we are in football right now. Anderson had us consistently average to above average but we did struggle to do much of anything in the tournament. Still, his last 5 years I think we were 3rd in the SEC in W-L record.

Exactly. That is the problem with some fan bases. They EXPECT way too much. Arkansas has not been horrible, just below their normal standards. And that is ok, every team goes thru up and down times. I just wish some of our fans understood that. Championship or bust for some of this fan base.

I like UK's chances. Unlike SC, Arkansas will not try to slow down and make it a wrestling match. We play a lot better when we get a chance to use freedom of movement and actually have some pace to the game. Well until we get a 12-14 point lead, then I make expect Arkansas to make it a nailbitter.
I certainly hope that you never get a 12-14 point lead. We have already overcame double digit deficits in the last 9 minutes of games at Indiana and Ole Miss, I don't want to press our luck against Kentucky.

I can remember a Hog Fan at the SEC Tournament one year. He was bragging about how we didn't have any competition until Arkansas got into the SEC. I wasn't sure about the W and L games versus the Hogs, so before we played them, which was the next day, I went and checked the past. I found out they had NEVER beat UK in the Tournament, and we had destroyed them, even when they won the NC. I went and had 500 pages printed, showing the scores of all the games BETWEEN UK and Arkansas in the SEC Tournament, which showed we had kicked their A$$ every time. I put on the bottom, "ARKANSAS BEING COMPETITIVE WITH UK IS ONLY A FIGMENTATION OF AN ARKANSAS FAN'S IMAGINATION. I went to the stadium, and put a flier in every seat in the Arkansas section. We beat the **** out of them. The guy who had done the talking, it spoiled his game. He had a scowl on his face the whole game. Tubby was our coach.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Always thought it was pretty cool when you guys renamed “The Pyramid”...... called it “The Pigamid” when the SEC Tournament was played in Memphis. Started on the old Mikrotec UK forum in 1996.

Before that, we used to own Reunion Arena in Dallas when we'd go down there for the annual Southwest Conference tournament...even the local DFW media called it "Barnhill South", after our arena just before we built Bud Walton in 1993-94. It was not unusual to see the place 80% full of Arkansas fans when we played. UK fans are familiar with this sort of thing - it was NOT well received by the rest of the SWC on the rare years that their teams were good enough that their fans thought they had a chance in the tournament and showed up, only to find that Hog fans had bought up all the tickets.

I remember in the 1991 Tournament - the last one Arkansas participated in before their departure to the SEC - a Razorback fan got a roaring response from the crowd when he walked around the court with a sign that read "Moving Sale: 12,000 Tickets to the 1992 SWC Basketball Tournament".

I attended a game in Fayetteville a few years ago and it was when Terrence Jones was a freshman here, y'all won that game at the buzzer. It was one of if not the loudest places I have ever watched a game.

I'm guessing it was the game that ended on this play by Michael Qualls:

I was at the 1995 SEC Tournament Final when Arky melted down being up 9 in OT but wouldn’t stop taking 3’s Antoine Walker brought UK back and Epps finished them off
I chanted “ wee wee all the way home
Several emotional swings in that one. Rod Rhodes says hi. Man those were the days. Ark and UK teams back then, either one destroy college basketball teams these days. D-effing-STROY!

How far back do we have to go???????? I was at the Ark/UK game in the Checkerdome in 78. It was a semifinal game in the Final Four. Very tough game. Remember Ark coming into the league in the early 90s. They were tough from day one. Richardson came into the league with a chip on his shoulder and his team played like it. Sat in Rupp in about 94ish or so when there was a blizzard outside. Roads closed around the state. No traffic,,,,,,,,,,,,well except for the 24,000 that somehow drove in from all over the state to see the game. The best game from a UK stand point was the SEC Championship game in Atlanta in 95. UK was behind 8 points with about a minute to go and came back somehow to win it. I was here on this board back in the beginning with Catman and a few others here. It was brutal then. Fun but brutal.

Great stories, thanks for sharing. Almost game time, may the best team win.

Well when you suck that long and then go to a rivals board you earn it. Your board is that way. >>>>>>>>>

And you would know that because...you "went to a rivals board"? Can't have it both ways...

Besides which, the issue is not a few Hog fans coming to this board (or, shouldn't be). I think most UK fans will agree that the visitors have been respectful and just want to reminisce about some great games in the past. The issue IS your lack of contribution to the thread, other than a 3rd grade playground taunt.

By the way, congrats to the Cats today. The better team won.
But, this comes with a prediction (I won't call it a "warning")...give Muss 2 years to recruit to his system, and I think the Hogs will battle UK (and whoever else) on equal terms for SEC supremacy. This guy is an Eddie Sutton (pre-UK) for the 20's...Arkansas has NO size at all, yet they stay in games like today's, or when LSU out-rebounded them even more than UK today and the Hogs took the Tigers to OT on their own home court.

UK is (or should be) secure in where they are within the SEC. But the Hogs are coming back...you'll have a legit sparing partner while Muss is in Fayetteville.

Have not gone there. Said rivals as basketball rival. Not board genius. Your fans are the worst in the conference and teams have played dirty against UK for years. Starts from the head coaches you hire. Guess we will see how the new coach does. At least he’s continues the streak of losing to us.

Lost my voice only one time...’95 SEC Tourney in Atlanta. Thank God for Anthony Epps.

The game was intense and every Richardson/Pitino battle was incredible. It gave us the greatest crowd ever at Rupp when we came out in the

ou couldn’t hear yourself the entire game.

This rivalry between 2 SEC programs will never be duplicated.

Never liked Anderson, but he never could do what his predecessor did.

Look...I came here in peace and posted like almost everyone else in the thread...Wildcat or Hog...to pay tribute to the classic games of the past (which I am fortunate enough to have dvd copies of, and still watch from time to time) and hope that some semblance of that rivalry will re-emerge with our new coach. YOU are the outlier in this thread. Everyone else seems to be having civil conversation.

Having said that, I re-read your prior post (copied below)...please explain again how that does not talk about going to the board of a rival? And, how else would you know that "our board is that way" if you had not?

Thanks owl...I'm sure we will see you and the rest of UK nation in future games that will be of significance...can't wait. Not because they will be "easy" but because it will mean the Razorbacks have regained their place in the spotlight of college basketball again. UK never left...we're just trying to get back there.

You are always welcome in my mind whether the Cats win or lose. I enjoy comments and opinions from our rivals as this is a discussion board. I go back to the 1978 Final Four game with Arkansas and I can tell you the Hogs have been a very good opponent and have provided some of the most exciting games in UK history.
