So is he injured? While it would certainly be very humbling for him after starting last season, it was odd how he still didn't even see the court in garbage time.

Yeah, I’d just leave it at this point. He doesn’t seem disruptive so I’m for letting him finish out the year in peace. Frankly, I’d rather see him get a few minutes of Young’s time the way he keeps hogging the ball.

Good catch on the photo. He seems into it during pregame warmups, but that's sadly telling.
He’s into it during the games, too. Not sure what’s going on with his time here, and if he’s possibly redshirting, but nothing about his attitude suggests he’s not supportive of the team and players. Just an observation.

Just a normal part of college hoops. Hopefully he keeps going his best in practice to help this team continue to get better!

IMO, I think he can be a useful part of the rotation, he’s one of the few who can actually shoot the long ball.

This is the second or third game where he didn’t even play in garbage time. It’s very odd.

Could Pike be redshirting him?

My daughter notice he left the RAC really quick. I even said, nah that couldn’t have been him since it’s way to early. She said it was 100% him.
I sit in 202 right above where RU goes into and out of the locker rooms and as soon as the game ended while everyone else was celebrating on the court he walked off alone, slowly, head down, and looked really down. Felt really bad for him when I saw that. He was not on the court for any of the celebration or award presentation

Kiss already used his redshirt in his transfer sit out year. Only way he can do it again is if it's medical and based on the dunks he threw down in pregame it's not that.

WOW. I think his absence needs to be addressed

He IS a part of this team and he played well getting the team to this point.

His dejectedness says alot.....but we need an explanation

Why do WE need an explanation. It was fairly apparent that he was not a great player last year especially on the defensive end. Right now he is probably the 11th guy (Duke is 10) very tough to get 11 guys on the court

I attended practice on Thursday and he was really into it. He seemed happy. He is in his 4th year of college and just might graduate this year. How is red shirting going to help him when he sat out one year when he transferred to RU? I hope Peter is happy or can become happy. Maybe he might just transfer somewhere if he graduates this year and can get to play somewhere as a grad transfer immediately. I feel sorry for him. I assume Peter and Doucoure didn't want to into the game at garbage time. They might have wanted the walkons to get the time. Hopefully we will hear something eventually.

Wow that’s tough man. Concerning / heart breaking on a few levels.

Obviously not everyone can play but it’s important to have every member of the team fully engaged. From what I’ve seen he’s been a great teammate and has brought tons of energy. But if there are viable signs of dis-engagement and mopping ... it’s going to effect the overall team chemistry on a basketball team of 13 guys.

on the flip side ... feel bad for these kids. They bust their tails off and put in the work. I’m sure Kiss had much higher expectations for himself coming into RU. And then played a good amount last year and this year abruptly has been tough for him I’m sure. It’s not easy at all to cope with lack of playing , especially when expectations for yourself were different. It can really drag down even the most confident of people and seemingly affect all phases of their life. Tough but sad reality of athletics- doesn’t make it easier to see it or experience it though

I would not be surprised that Kiss transfers either at the end of this semester or the end of the season in March.Playing time always is a issue with bench players.

Absolutely

Kind of pathetic that they didn’t, and both seemed to have no awareness of the importance of rewarding your bench guys.
That drives me nuts too. Jake Young should be the last guy in the world left on the court with Joe, Luke and Nick. It should have been about getting the walkons a shot or at least a touch in the last minute. Instead we have to see Jake acting like he’s on the playground.

Here's a simple explanation that could be true: he busts his butt in practice, we blow out our in state rival at home, and he can't even get a second on the court as a reward for hard work. Can't blame him if he's thinking, if I don't even appear in this game, am I never going to be in a game again? That would be hard to take.

Agreed on Young dominating the ball in the last minute, too.

Not a fan of Young’s game but not going to kill him on that last possession. He ended up with the ball in his hands without about 4 seconds to go and had to beat the shot clock.

What Kiss is dealing with happens on just about every team at every level. Unfortunately at this level you’re kind of in a fish bowl and it’s a bit embarrassing and a hit to your self esteem to be relegated to the end of the bench. You’d hope that he would be able to celebrate with his teammates but not everyone is going to be able to do that.

Let’s wait to see what happens until the end of the year. If a dearth if playing time continues he may go somewhere as a grad transfer. But it’s a long season - if McConnell or Harper or Yeboah get injured (knock on wood) he’s the next guy up. But right now we have nine solid contributors.

We were up by 20 in the last 10 minutes of the game. Not sure why Kiss and Duc were not put in with four minutes left or so to get them some work and before the walkons came one. If Kiss if doing everything in practice and cheering during the game then he is a great teammate. After the game is his time and he is not obligated to dance on the court or hoot and holler in the locker room, D1 athletes give enough of their time as it is. Something off about this situation. I hope a grad transfer next year works out for him.

I remember there was a bit of hype when he came here, and I think, without looking it up because it is more fun that way, he played very well the very first game for us, something like 20 pts and several threes mixed in..

at that time we thought we had a really good addition

He better than Young.
----
we would think a lot more of Young if, when he drives to the hoop, the ball actually goes down.....time after time he makes a pretty decent move to get all the way there, and the ball rolls out..

because the ball does not go down, he is considered selfish and out of control..... if he actually made the basket, a nice offensive move, and no complaints

Tough part of sports at this level. Even if he is better than Young in distributing the ball it might not be enough to warrant playing time so he wants to stay

Pike might simply be pushing him off the team to open another slot
