Just remember Matt Masker broke Scott Frost's high school records. We'll be in good hands, the Christianity in me believes this!

BTW Joe Ganz was a fine QB. The coaching staff just played favorites with Keller. Joe had a good arm and fast legs. Didn't he put the hurt on KU at home and was told to shut it down?
Ganz put the hurt on Kansas State, and no.. he was not told to shut it down. Seemed like we were running five guys straight down the field on pretty much every play.

In more detail, AD Osbourne told Callahan to shut it down...
Sure Osborne fired Callahan, eventually... but I highly doubt that AD Osborne would have had ANY input into what plays are being called during the game. Was that reported somewhere? And even if Osborne was doing that, Callahan didn't get the message because we sure as hell ran up the score that game. We scored 21 points in the 4th quarter after being up 52-17 at the end of the third. It was the pent up frustration of a lost season getting taken out against a Kstate team that was a step slow that day..

73 points and I think some of the passing records still stand from that game

The aftermath of that game was the last time in my life I have been near blackout drunk.

Now wait a minute. You said that's why Neal transferred here and I quote (tuco)"When he found out he was going to be a backup, hE quickly put together his plan to graduate in the summer so he could leave UCF". Are you backing away from your statement?

Edit: just saw the link that xxUNRIVAlEDxx put up. Explains where you must have gotten that. I see your ammo.

I am neutral on the argument being discussed about TG, but just for the sake of accuracy, I will point out that Neal's situation has a couple of twists that Gebbia's doesn't.

First, I don't see how anyone puts a quick plan together to graduate when it takes so many years and credit hours to get to graduation, and second, Neal wants to be a dentist, and UCF doesn't have a college of dentistry and NU does, along with some sort of graduate program that gets him the residual coursework that helps him finish his premed/predental prerequisites.

It kind of all fell in place for him to benefit from the transfer and not stay at ucf independent of football, but benefiting from the scholarship.

So are you saying that if Neal was going to remain the starter that he was still going to transfer? I doubt it. He would have figured out a way to take some graduate classes at UCF then left UCF in December to begin his pursuit of dentistry.

Bunch has the most game experience of any QB we had.

I'm not saying he is better than anyone else.

Other than his ball placement was nice in the Spring game and in the practice videos.

No, I'm not implying he would stay or not stay in that case if he was starting. I think if he was starting that he might have had different aspirations for the nfl, though. But, likewise, if ucf had similar academic programs as NU has, that he might have had similar considerations and stayed at ucf as a backup.

I am just pointing out that I don't think the situation comparisons to Gebbia is apples to apples. Also, Neal has only one year of eligibility left, if I am not mistaken, and Gebbia has, potentially, 4 if he could get some sort of allowance for transferring from a change of coach/offensive scheme ncaa waiver.

Again,I just think it seems its an apples to oranges comparison with entirely different factual considerations.

BTW, it's often more conducive to get into dental school if one has a record in the same university in whose dental school to which you are applying than for someone who has no such record and from a different predental program, if for no other reason as it's easier for admissions committees to compare applicants as they have more of a familiarity of their university's degree of difficulty of the predental coursework vs a different undergraduate school that the committee has much less familiarity and for whom they may have only one applicant.

clearly not all situations are exactly the same. But the point is guys left their brothers to go elsewhere. Even guys that Frost coached at a different school.

Just to be clear, I don't have a single problem with guys doing what is best for their individual situations. For 98% of these guys they need to worry about putting themselves in better positions for the next 60 years. NFL is a select group, that very few need to worry about. And if a guy wants to actually play and not be a career backup, I have no problem with those dudes actually leaving to go to a school that will allow that to happen.

The pull of "brothers" and "family" might be great, but pretty much everyone has to leave them, eventually, and obviously, strike out on their own despite the pull that perceived loyalty might give.

Their "brothers", obviously, aren't going to get Neal into dental school or pay his bills the rest of his life. For every year he doesn't get into dental school that's another year out of his 40 some odd years of work life that he has lost income, regardless of the continued expenses he accumulates going to school while trying to GET in when his playing days and scholarship ends. I know from sad experience while my son-in-law was trying to get into dental school his family still needed money and he had several years of lost income, but FINALLY got in.

That is awesome info, and with all that said and all the potential obstacles, my opinion is that if he was still going to be the starter at UCF, he would have stayed at UCF.

So your going to low blow me because Gebbia choose to move on?? All I ever did was be a fan of Husker QB. He gave it his all, didn’t work out and now he’s moving on. This is all I will say on the Gebbia subject. I won’t knock the kid and I won’t say another word for him.

Now I’m glad we got a great QB in Martinez. We also have a great dual threat in Luke McCaffery coming in and we also have Smothers coming on up in a few years. Our QB position is in great shape.

C'mon, I'm not the only one that was aware of your mancrush on Gebbia. If you speak in the glowing terms like you did for TG, you know you're going to take some ribbing for it.

It is what it is. This is this. The Buddhist in me believes this to be the case.

Good luck to Gebbia, frankly, I think he's making the right decision for himself. You get passed up on the depth chart at QB by a true freshman, time to go.

Is your use of "this is this" the same use of "this is this" as DeNiro's use in "this" clip? BTW, this one is in my list of Top 5 movies of all time..

Close. You name Gebbia the starter. If he screws-up, he goes to the bench. Martinez is in and Gebbia is the back-up.

The way it panned-out, Martinez is #1, and Gebbia is history.

Some RSS posters and others have talked about roster management, and so I question the move, but I have faith Frost knows who the right guy is in the long-run. And I back that guy 100%. GBR

Then Gebbia transfers after game 2 or 3.. same diff. And there goes bunches reps at number 2 so essentially we would be worse off.

If you say so Hoosker Du...I think you
Got a man crush on me. You been kind trolling a brotha for months now...and why?? Because I felt Gebbia had the same chance Martinez did in Frosts offense?? Then you flip as I had “man crush” because I wasn’t like you and a few others that just wanted to hand the starting spot to Martinez and give Up on Gebbia before he had a shot?? If this makes you sleep better and feel more like man...so be it. But if I had a Gebbia “man crush” then you sir had a Martinez “man crush”...wtf ever that’s supposed to mean. Because you was doing the same thing as me but insert Martinez instead of Gebbia. Or is it different because my opinion was different then yours?? Hmmm I wonder.

I pointed out I’d be happy with either QB plenty of times, I just got tired of the “Gebbias to skinny to play in the BIG10” BS. It’s gets old how some of our fans flip on our own Husker players so easily. And we call ourselves “the best fans in college football”...yeah ok, lol. I just wasnt hung up on one QB. But it’s your world apparently and I’m just renting a spot. ;)

Well, one thing is for sure...if I loved constant misspellings, atrocious grammar, poor punctuation, and a general abuse of our beloved native tongue...you would certainly be one of the first that came to mind as being the object of my affection..

You also struggle mightily with simple concepts, such as when someone agrees with the philosophy of our head coach...which Frost can't put it into any simpler terms...that he likes a run/pass QB in his system. And yes, if you haven't watched his pressers, he has said this.

As I've said before as well, strip away the names of any of our QBs. Call them Pro-Style and Dual-Threat, and I will tell you every time that I would rather have the latter in Frost's offense. You have tried from the moment people disagreed with your stance of wanting Gebbia as the starter, to make it personal. This has NEVER been personal. It has always been about what their skillset brings to Frost's offense. Period.

I never poked fun at Gebbia's weight, nor did I ever say anything about his character. I did say that he wasn't a very mobile QB. By all accounts the kid did nothing but worked hard to win the QB spot. I actually feel bad for him, because he was left in a difficult spot after Riley got fired, of trying to make his abilities work in Frost's offense. And I don't blame him for leaving...at all. I wish him well wherever he ends up.

Does Bunch go on scholarship? (apologize if this has been discussed earlier)
He is the 2nd team QB

we put Mazour and Weinmaster on scholarship - both are juniors - and don't appear on the 2 deep as yet
They put them on scholarship because they EARNED it!

Who cares about Gebbia...would we care if a frosh qb from oregon state wanted to transfer to NU...a pro-style no less...that is what Gebbia is...he is an OSU level Qb...vastly undersized, good mechanics but weak arm without those mechanics...says 180 but he looks 165...I would worry if he went to Washington state that we lost somebody...but he obviously wasn't going to stick it out...so good luck to him...we've seen Gebbia twice, and Bunch once...Bunch outplayed Gebbia in the only outing they shared. So we didn't lose Joe Montana.

Just the same as it would be at any other program that lost their top 2 QBs. It would be nice to be 3 deep. But remember who came off the bench when Braxton Miller got injured for Ohio State?

They're still doing repair work on Memorial Stadium for when Bauserman got the ball in his hands. We should have billed them for compromising the strength and integrity of our stadium. Ohio State, with access to one of the top depots of talent in the nation, had Joe Bauserman as their #2 guy. Yikes! Now there's a sobering thought.

Joe Bauserman had his first start against.....the Akron Zips
