While the 5a field is weak that side of the bracket is much tougher. Pc, kankakee, Morgan park, and crete monee all on the same side.

Franny is definitely getting to the final. Won’t be close with any team until the final and even then I give them a great shot of winning the whole thing.

Think them and naz in 6a got the best draws you could ask for and will both be Thanksgiving weekend after having a losing record in the regular season.

Morgan Park is legit. There one loss was a 1 score to defeat to DGN. They got speed PC hasn't seen. I not only think they will come within 2 scores I think they can beat them. Crete will give them a game if it comes to it......Triad has some athletes.

The Kaneland game would be interesting but yes would not be surprising if they meet PC in title game again and that’s a pick’em IMO. Then 5A gets relief from those two for two years but do they get Naz and JCA back?

Providence should be favored in every game they play. However, staying within 14 points of them? I can count seven teams that should be able to do that: Kankakee, Morgan Park, Mahomet-Seymour, Morton, St. Francis, Kaneland and Cary-Grove. Providence may be the favorite in 5A but they are not a prohibitive favorite. 5A should be more competitive and entertaining than people think.

The 5A bracket is real 5A schools. Its not weak or light its just 5A. If there is an average team thats favored to win it then they are in the wrong class. They should put their big boy pants on and play teams in their weight class even if it means they get stomped out this year.

I remember after Mahomet played Morris last year their head coach said they scheduled teams like Morris,Sycamore and Morton to prepare them to play against the better teams in the 5A playoffs. Seems like they've had a strong season so far this year.

You'd think the IHSA would use technology to set the brackets and reward teams that play tough games instead of penalizing those that do. This is why you still have teams looking for games a month before the season.

Kankakee will be a good game. Morgan park could be a good game. I have no faith in Morton or mahomet or Kaneland keeping it within 3 scores against PC. SF and Cary both have had “down” years but if they are peaking they could make for a fun game in the finals. PC will likely be tested in rounds 1 and 2. They would coast in the quarters and semis. Then the final is a wild card given the up and down nature of their likely opponents there .

Think everyone is really underestimating kankakee their only loss was by 1 score to lwe. A game that they led most of.
