When the field was set, I checked the class enrollment breakdown. Based on their current enrollment of 532, JCA's multiplied enrollment would be 868, which would put them in the 4A field. So, next year, the Hilltoppers may drop two classes from 6A to 4A, when the success factor no longer applies.

Interesting. And here’s the really bad gamesmanship possibility. Let’s say Naz gets to the title game and stays 6a. Say PC and SF both meet in the 5a title again and both get bumped to 6a. If 4a still has montini, Rochester, SHG , and morris then 5a would be the sweet spot between two loaded classes. Conceivably JCA could petition up under the convenient guise Batavia used in electing to play up to their “usual” class but in reality being a back door way to a perceived more winnable class.

not saying they would and that obviously worked out quite poorly for Batavia now with esl opting up and br being real good in 7a but that’s part of the problem with allowing petitioning up or self selection of classes.
