I tip according to service
It can be good or bad
Tips are to be earned, not expected
Kinda like respect

I thought it was just me.It’s 2023 brah. It’s like when you go to a coffee shop is a minimum of 20% while some hipster barista stares at your fingers
I work an upper management job and am very good at what I do. No one wants to tip me because a make a boat load of money. I enjoy tipping good service and not everyone has the skill or where with all to acquire a degree or skill. I am Attila the Hun conservative but appreciate someone’s attempt to make a living wage.I work an upper management type job and am good at what I do. I havent had anyone want to tip me yet. I understand waitresses only make like $3 per hour and rely on tips (which i think is totally wrong) but those who make above minimum wage should not expect a tip. It’s just doing their job that they get paid to do. Dont like your hourly wage? Get a degree or skill and go somewhere else and make more.
Beg to differ. 90% want the USA to look like Europe. 10% are opportunists.Well there’s the answer. All liberals want to turn our country into Europe anyway.

This is a bit of a hot topic for me as well.
My favorite part is this little game they play at the pizza place, Subway, etc. After your run your card, they all usually say something to the effect of "Ok, the screen will ask you a question".......
.....when the only "question" is how much will you tip, and there's NO option for no tip.
I asked a friend who owns an establishment that does this, and he tried to blame it on the cash register company and how they set it up. I called BS, and he eventually admitted that this is just another way to supplement the salary of cashiers.
You missed point completely. A delivery driver is spending more time on serving just you than any waiter/waitress at even the nicest restaurant. So don’t not tip or only tip $1-2.But this is the company that employees you’s fault and not the end consumer. Tipping puts the worker and consumer in bad positions while absolving the employer/service provider from blame.
I've paid my dues. I started life poor as dirt. I've worked low wage jobs including fast food and other service jobs. I worked hard without having the expectations of receiving a tip. Growing up on a farm, I worked my tail off for my family to survive. I knew what hard work was all about without any pay for it. All this enticed me to further my education at whatever sacrifice. So don't even play the card that I don't understand. Last month I saved our company over $100k. I didn't get a bonus or even a thank you, but I get to keep my job which pays my bills and that is good enough. It's what I am paid to do.The vast majority of server type positions are done while pursuing a career, not as a career. For an upper level manager your awareness is not extremely sharp.
While I always tip at least 15-20% when ordering a delivery pizza, that is the one tipping situation I think is bs because they already charge a delivery fee. I know they say that the driver doesn't get the delivery fee, but that is a cop out. They are using that delivery fee to help pay the driver whatever the driver's hourly rate is, which is at least minimum wage. If a tip is for the service being provide by the one getting tipped, you shouldn't have to pay both a fee for the service, and a tip.You missed point completely. A delivery driver is spending more time on serving just you than any waiter/waitress at even the nicest restaurant. So don’t not tip or only tip $1-2.
Being a shift mgr at White Castle is NOT upper management.I work an upper management type job and am good at what I do. I havent had anyone want to tip me yet. Try again. Engineering manager over a construction design build firm.Being a shift mgr at White Castle is NOT upper management.
Yes...not WM. I think it's one of the toughest jobs related to pay/working conditions.Who collects for you?
Are they an independent Co.
I wouldn't tip a Waste Management collector.
They receive the same pay and benefits that most factory workers do.
No one tips them.
You probably bullied your way there.Try again. Engineering manager over a construction design build firm.
Yes and all right wingers want to turn this country into an authoritarian fascist state with NO separation of “church and state, alas the “christofascist movement within the “sedition “ party…..sad and they evidently haven’t studied history on how that always works out!
Subtle, I'm-smarter-and-better-than-those-people-who-work-in-the-service-industry-and-I-make-six-figures brag. Of course, anyone can claim anything behind a keyboard.Try again. Engineering manager over a construction design build firm.
No. I agree with you.I used to think of myself as a very generous person . Tip 20 % routinely in restaurants , always a ten for the bell hop. Usually 40 % or more for cabbies just to make their day .those people always spent time with me .
But at Rupp Arena buying Ice Cream for $6.50 ,or a coke for six bucks or water for 5 bucks I found there was no place on the credit card machine to leave no tip . The least was 10 % . really ? For ten seconds of filing an ice cream cone, or pouring a coke or simply handing me a bottle of water .
I finally figured out how to get through the process without tipping but it takes longer and I am wondering if I’m missing something here.
are We really expected to pay people tips for ten seconds of work? Am I a tight *** for not playing their game ?
My daughter worked as a server while going through college. She told me several stories with the theme "never piss off people who handle your food behind closed doors".I tip $0.00.. And I've had bills close to $1000..
Never farther from the truth. Notice I didn't include my job in the original post cause it didn't really matter. I am no better than the ones flipping burgers. In fact I can make pizzas with the best of them. I'm not above doing it again if that is what it takes for my family to make ends meat. Gotta do whatcha gotta do to feed and take care of your family.Subtle, I'm-smarter-and-better-than-those-people-who-work-in-the-service-industry-and-I-make-six-figures brag. If I didn't know better, I would think that the average salary is $150K, and that 90% of people make six figures.
Lol they have zero clue on tip until you're leaving..My daughter worked as a server while going through college. She told me several stories with the theme "never piss off people who handle your food behind closed doors".
Hell yeah you smart for not playing their game. I'm a generous tipper always but that's ridiculous.I used to think of myself as a very generous person . Tip 20 % routinely in restaurants , always a ten for the bell hop. Usually 40 % or more for cabbies just to make their day .those people always spent time with me .

What do you think "Upper Management, and I am really good at what I do" means? "I can make pizzas with the best of them", what exactly does that convey? While I agree with your "if you do not like your hourly job......." statement, the rest of your posts sound like a "humblebrag". Like I said before, everyone makes 200K around here, drives an 80K car, has the mortgage paid off, and can retire at age 45, but choose not to. You might be telling the truth, and you might not have intentions on bragging, but you never know behind the keyboard. For every person who tells the truth, there's probably 3-4 who are exaggerating, or flat out lying. *cough* Superfuzz *Cough*Never farther from the truth. Makes my blood boil. Those fees are up to 5-6$ now. While I always tip at least 15-20% when ordering a delivery pizza, that is the one tipping situation I think is bs because they already charge a delivery fee. You never make a return trip to a restaurant? Jilted servers have long memories.Lol they have zero clue on tip until you're leaving..
