Good lord. This is embarrassing. How old are some of you?

EJ has been a bad basketball player. We’re in February of his sophomore season. Do you know the old saying for March sophomores? They’re called Juniors.

He had one “decent” game against an average team at home. We all want him to be dominant, but settle down and see what happens.

There’s no crow when it comes to EJ, he needs to actually become a good basketball player for more than a day for that to happen.

EJ was extremely opportunistic tonight, which is EXACTLY what we need out of him!! Nick was the focus of the MSU defense in the first half and EJ made some hustle plays for rebounds and put backs. He REALLY has to play aggressively to be successful.

I liked how Cal ran some sets for him as a face up driver from the Wing. He is MUCH better facing the basket and can handle the ball adequately enough to score on short drives. He also went hard after rebounds on both ends.

If he can give us 12 and 8 every game, we'll go far in March!!

I mean, 12 points on 11 shots isn't even that good. If we are excited about that, we've set a rather low bar for EJ. It was good to see him not completely invisible on the glass though.

I was going to say just that. But this thread isn’t about what’s really happening, it’s the same group of loud mouths trying to squash this board from having any decency or genuine conversation.

Cal said they had something different with Ej they have been working on. It looks like they are having EJ and Nate attack the rim more. Nate made 3 close-in shots. I don't remember the last game he scored inside the paint, but it's good to see from both of them. They are too big to float around the perimeter. Miss ST had been destroying people on the glass. Like LSU I think they outrebounded them by 25+ and most games it looks like they have a huge advantage. We held our own at -3.

I mean if Ej can give us something close to this night in and night out, 12-8 then it will be huge. I just hope we have seen the last of 4-3 games. It will be a huge lift and he looks like he is getting confidence and conditioning. I started to see it against Vandy when we needed it and he had to offensive rebounds and putbacks and a plus one.

sure thing Scooter. I know your kind. You probably live in your mom’s basement and your only fun is arguing with other posters on message boards. Prove what I said wrong. You almost never actually discuss basketball. All you do is try to post negatively towards other fans and talk like a 12 year old. It must suck to be you.
Gonna threaten to beat me up again big boi.

How does that crow taste? Hopefully you're all eating it and happy for him and the team.. His past few games he's been showing more and more consistency and energy and it's finally all coming out this game. Now to see if it can continue... He actually looks happy out there too! So happy for him
I don't know of many who hate Montgomery. I surely hope not. But there is no denying he has underperformed this season compared to expectations. I am thrilled for him, though. I would think every UK fan is very excited for EJ and are all hoping he continues his improved play. I have noticed the improvement in his play in the last few games, but tonight was undeniable. I loved seeing that big smile on his face at the end of the game. Here's to many more great games for EJ!

He played a terrific game, and did it after missing his first two shots. Basketball is not golf--we want a basketball player not a golfer. The game of basketball involves much faster movement. He has to move with some explosiveness on the court, and we saw some of that tonight. We beat a pretty good team tonight. Very good win!

It's hilarious that things always go this way.

No one hates or roots against EJ. We're frustrated because we all thought he could be so much better.

He's had several meh games this season. Finally has a really good game. One really good game. And you rush to post "TOLD YA SO!!!!11ONE!"

Get a life.

He looked like he got busted in the chops, and then became aggressive on both ends of the floor. If that’s what it takes, then somebody needs to pop him right in the teeth before every game, because that EJ is a difference maker for us.

if you can’t leave the door open for improvement and encouragement and you just say a player “sucks” you’re hating imo. a lot of losers said things like this. posters who have been around and are known fans comment on how he has given nothing, inferring that he has the opportunity to give something in every game. people who say he sucks are inferring he will never be good. there’s a huge difference here.

Cracks me up when ppl do this.

1st thing, let’s just all agree, we ALL want EJ to be awesome. None of us hate him. The better he is, the better the team is.

2nd thing, dude has been pretty bad most of his games here at UK. The few times he’s actually showed up and played well you wanna try to call out the naysayers. Ummm. They’re right. You’re wrong. Until he does it consistently ....you shouldn’t really be talking.

I am happy for EJ but you may want to pump the brakes on the "eat crow and die" talk until he does it more than 1 game. I hope he does because he can be the difference make when he plays like that. If we would get EJ, Whitney, Hagans and somone off the bench playing with any consistency this team would be the favorite to win it all. The issue is too much inconsistency from too many guys. One or 2 per game is one thing but when 4-5 guys are off we are in trouble and that happens a lot.

I was very happy for EJ last night. I hope he continues to improve and becomes the first pick in an NBA draft, just like I'm sure everyone on here would like to see. Pointing out one's deficiencies does not mean you want to see them fail.

I have voiced my opinion about his effort (or lack thereof) a couple of times. I have always wanted him to break out and become a contributor, he just didn’t seem to want it. Really pleased with his playing last night. I hope that feeling lights a fire under him and it continues.

Hate is an interesting word. It gets thrown around as a descriptor for negativity in a very casual manner. Then when the tables are turned, it reverts to the King’s English usage as a very intense emotional dislike so that the ‘hater’ can act offended. Such is the nature of imprecise language and contemporary miss use.

There is little doubt that EJ and Nick were subject to unreasonable and harsh criticism by the ignorant among the fan base. Big men can take time to develop and not everyone is an AD or a KAT.

Both of these guys will have inconsistent games as the season unfolds. The ‘haters’ will emerge from under the rocks and say, they have been right all along. Then they will act offended when their folly is exposed.

EJ has decent good game and has morphed into an All Ameircan lol. I'll wait till he consistantly puts up double digit points and the occasional double double before I eat anything

By the way, you’ve got so many posters pissed off at your nonsense that you can’t keep them straight. I don’t bash our players. I don’t say any player sucks. I do point out their deficiencies and where they need to improve because, it’s you know, a message board. You don’t understand that simple concept. You also fail it realize you’re the laughing stock of this board.

Well said. I’ve been pretty candid that I think he’ll become a really good player but he’s not there yet. He has all the tools to be an all conference guy though, but not right now. I fully expect him to take a huge leap forward next season. I think he’ll have to if we want to have a good year.

Pretty sure most want him to succeed, he just hasn’t to this point.

Rupp’s ovation says it all!
His point is some on here had given up. They said he had no chance of being N Richards next season. Well maybe they were right, maybe he will hit it this year

It's Mississippi State.

But the effort was there. The team just hasn't been able to carry much success from one game to the next. But I'll never give up the hope that they can find some magic.
He hasn't been doing it against the Evansville of the CBB. Be happy for him. Oh yeah you aren't a UK fan, almost forgot

Wow. Where have you been? Nice to see you show up and crow about one good game. I have never said anything negative about EJ but you showing up after one good game is a little ingenious don't you think.
