Noone said running backs had huge holes. But there were times Adrian had all day to throw and if he is going to command this offense he can't miss Robinson like he did the end of the first half. And you know what? If your line sucks you still have to make something happen. He doesn't have that magic like Taylor did. He just doesn't.
The "magic" that Taylor had? You really are clueless.RollingLaugh

It wasn’t often at all that he had all day to throw.

Why aren’t you complaining about our backs? They weren’t productive either. WR’s?

This is a team sport so when you have trouble where it starts then you have trouble where it ends.

I’m sorry but no QB in the country was going to make our offense better today and neither would an athlete turned quarterback.

I know. It was dumb as **** then and is dumb as **** now.

Then when he got it rolling last year, you backtracked and said you were just joking. You're not cut out for this.
oh really.. I've kept my mouth shut about it most of the off season, but I have never back tracked on it.. The most praise I've ever given him is saying his ceiling is maybe he makes the B1G championship game..

It is dumb asses like the people on this board that heap on the heisman praise and such..

The kid has never met a challenging moment head on and cleared it in a game.

He came back against Iowa, only to tie it I think, which we lost in OT.

Make excuses for him, coddle him, blah blah blah..

Pretty sure the heisman hype isn’t relegated to this board... If you googled 2019 heisman candidates, you would see that many of the sports publications have listed him as a candidate.

What a bunch of dumbasses.

This thread is ridiculous.

Only thing Im going to say is just because people are saying stupid crap about Adrian, its not reason to rip on other former QBs like Taylor just because someone brought him up. I always liked Taylor and while he wasnt our best QB all time, like Jamal Lord, Tommie Armstrong and others that get ripped on, I think he gave his all.

seems to me if he isn't hurt, that extra weight might have slowed him down, doesnt look the same.
Yeah, something is not right. He looked so slow. Slow blinking as Coach Verduzco says. Last year Frost had to keep things very simple offense wise. He said this year he has opened up the whole playbook. Im wondering if simple was better for Martinez. Looks like he is thinking to much out there, and it is slowing him down. There were so many times he missed a guy running open, or he could have took off and gained 5-10 yards.

I’d like to also just add on and say that if you have never played a down as a QB for any college you probably have absolutely no room to throw shade at any QB who has, because the simple fact that they have played a snap for a college already makes them way better of a player then you... sooo yea they made it to this level not you so let’s leave it at that

Cam’s snapping knocked the rhythm of the running game off in the first half, then they barely played in the third quartet. Adrian had a bad game. Generally uninterested play. D made plays when needed.
The O needs to pull their head out of their collective tectums.
I will add that Wandale is a bright spot and will be a big piece to of things.

Yep....however, it just makes a guy wonder how Cam became our starting center? While I am sure he will improve he sure has a long, long ways to go. "Something" was really wrong.....

TMart was supremely awesome when healthy. What many fans can't grasp is that the Oline & defense that played with TMart weren't even a shadow of the mid 90s teams.

Very good player and will always be one of my favorites. That doesn't mean I didn't chew paint off the walls when he heaved a long ball into double/triple coverage off his back foot, which he did too often healthy or not.

God, everyone spouts off without doing any research. Frost said post game that he doesn’t have issues with the snap in practice. It was clearly in game jitters. No way to know that would happen if he’s been snapping it clean in practice.

Bruce is literally retarded

Bruce is literally retarded about college football, very similar to Callahan and Riley. Probably not someone to hitch your wagon to.
I'll hitch my wagon to who I want to. So, apparently you want to throw the mentally challenged into a dumpster?

I've been in the trenches with Bruce, he's a true Husker through & through.
I'd much rather befriend a dude that battles on a national Rivals board than one that sits here on HuskerBoard and drinks koolaid all summer.

Just so we’re clear, and there is no confusion... you do realize that message board wars are not real wars correct? You’re not out saving the world and quite honestly you’re not out saving the husker name sake, it is quite possible that you’re doing more damage, possibly making husker fans look like inbred idiots.... I mean that’s kind of the impression I get when you try to come off like a hardened warrior because you’re fighting the good fight on the rivals main board...

Just some helpful advice, let it go homie, you won’t be changing anyone’s opinions, not here and most definitely not on the main board. Internet hard asses are just that, internet hard asses. They have no identity which makes it easier for them to come across as a hard ***, when the reality of it is they would tuck tail and run if it was face to face... you’re just making yourself look bad and even more so you’re making husker nation look bad... but hey I realize I won’t change your mind so good luck on the main boards and remember when the rounds start flying just keep your head down and keep movin forward to take the objective... I’m glad we have warriors like you that will sacrifice their own keyboard, and self pride for the greater good of husker nation.

I see Bama runs a lot of drags underneath. It seems like our passing is much more focused down field. Get JD, Wandale in space having them cross underneath. Bama is dicing up Duke with this simple concept although they do it from a tight formation and we seem more spread.

I want to see some running next week too. I want some big ones to break. Go get it, Huskers. Today should be a wake up call
Alabama has a new offensive coordinator. They threw it deep all the time last year. Ohio St. has been successful for a long time just running vertical routes and letting their receivers make plays. I think we had receivers open at times. AM wasn't seeing anything today really.

The announcers did mention a lot the zone defense USA was running and Adrian seemed to have a lot of trouble with that. Are zone defenses really that uncommon in college football? Maybe that accounted for a lot of the problems AM had is he's a lot more used to seeing man defenses instead of zone.

That game didn't go OT because Iowa drove for the winning FG after NU tied it with about 3 minutes left. Darn that Martinez - why didn't he tackle better on Iowa's last drive?

Says the guy who claims South Alabama is going to be the best defense we face in the nonconference. Northern illinois and CU has significantly more talent on their teams than the team we just faced. You're the window licker.
Anybody who watched that offensive performance yesterday and isn't very concerned about our offense is delusional. That said, I'm HOPING that South Alabama is a much better team this year than projected. It IS the 2nd year under a new coaching staff and it appears that they have some pretty good talent so I'm expecting them to perform much better than last year. That said, it appeared to me that AM struggled tremendously in his reads yesterday and our receivers failed to find windows in the zone to get open. It was obvious that our O line struggled to open holes in the run game. I hate to say it, BUT having a sphomore walk on starting at guard concerned me as did having a freshman at center. They need to grow up in a hurry. Frost's offense has to be able to pose a threat in the run game to be successful.

There's no way to sugar coat it. AM had a terrible day. He locked on to guys and threw in to the teeth of the zone on multiple occasions sometimes while we had open secondary options. USA's QB looked better than AM. Our backs weren't the ones making the reads and throwing the ball. They didn't have much to run through for sure but I wasn't impressed with our new starter. He's not Devine but hopefully with more experience in the system, he'll get better. There's no way he can know the whole playbook yet. That's a problem and probably why we saw so much Mazour.

He was locking on to guys and missed open guys who were open down the read tree. Just a really bad day for AM. I hate to say it, but it looked like he's regressed from last year but then a walk on soph and freshman O line starters could make a QB uncomfortable and rushed in his decision making. As I stated in defense of Tanner Lee, when a QB gets hit a bunch it really messes with their decision making and AM was under pressure quite a bit yesterday. IF he had all day to pass and guys running open like OSU's QB does, he would have looked great. Our young starters need to grow up in a hurry. They concern me greatly.
