"One thing I've learned is we [Mississippi State] are very underrated, no matter what we do. No matter the progress we've made, we just don't get the credit we deserve. That's how I see it. Since I've been here, we always have had to prove people wrong. It's nothing new to us. We love that we just get to prove people wrong. We get to show people how much we have worked. We have shed blood and tears for this. They can put us as the 12 [place team in the SEC preseason poll]. It doesn't matter, it's how we respond. We take it personally. We are going to come out here and take care of business every day."

Offensive inconsistencies aside, this is what senior leadership looks and sounds like. If we play with this chip on our shoulder the rest of the year we'll wind up in the dance, assuming it doesn't get canceled.

Ado has never been an offensive player. He job is to rebound, block shots, and play defense. He does those very well. Not implying he is as good as Dampier, but Eric wasn't a scorer either (if my memory serves me correctly).

Eric wasn't much of a scorer till his last year.

I literally shriek at my TV when Ado decides to make an offensive move from the top of the key.

The great thing about this team is that we can beat anyone. The frustrating thing about this team is that we could lose to just about anyone. We gotta get way more consistent before we start talking big dance. But there's a lot to like.

Like I tweeted last night - if they can keep this lineup for next season - we could contend for the conference championship. If I was Abdul Ado, no way would I leave college. I think we would be fine without him but he would help.

Basketball gets the same benefit that football did. This year doesn't count.

This year counts. The coaches are cashing their paychecks aren’t they?

I really like this team and think we would be a top 2 or 3 SEC team next year with them.....BUT......in true M-State basketball fashion my gut tells me either one or both Molinar and Stewart will try to go pro, ready or not, and we will be starting over yet again next year. Jeez I hope I am wrong.

I get what Ado is saying, and he seems like a great person.

I disagree a little bit. I guess the teams he’s been on have pooped an upset or two, but other than that, what have they proven people wrong about?

And this is the reason it is so hard to build any basketball support among a fanbase right now unless you are a blue blood. Unless you are bringing in multiple 5 star recruits every year like a KY that you can plug right in you can't really withstand losing guys just as soon as they have one pretty good year and still try to build anything. So right now as soon as a guy shows any potential (like a Woodard) he is gone without ever really being a guy you can plan to build around. I wish basketball was like baseball in that you either go straight out of HS or the NBA would leave you alone for 3 years.

Probably the claim that our own fans have that they “don’t win” when they’ve won 20+ the past three seasons and would’ve been in the Dance two years in a row.

Hasn't Ado already graduated and is in grad school? If Covid keeps up he could have a PhD before long. **

This is what’s so weird to me. It feels like we disproportionately get impacted by guys with questionable pro careers leaving early. There are only 60 draft picks each year, and the blue bloods have way more talent than we do. We shouldn’t be putting more than one person in the NBA most years. I few like we’ve run into some unusual situations with this sort of thing that most teams of our caliber don’t

Winning 20 isn't what it used to be. And no, we wouldn't have had a chance of making the NCAAT last year without a really strong run in the SECT.

I wish I could give every other player Ado's attitude and work ethic or give him Molinar's ability to score.
